What a legend.

There was definitely a spark between her and Matt. So obvious whenever they were together.

Wii was on a roll and then came cammie...
She had no control over that. It's not like she pushed the cancel Project Hammer, M -Rated action RPG, and Mother 4 button herself.
You can accurately tell how crazy young ERA's median poster is, just from looking at how everyone reacted to Nintendo's 2018 E3 conference.

No one who was around for the E3 2008 conference would even fathom comparing the two shows.

2008 was bad and she's not a natural presenter but her being a woman definitely pushed a lot of the usual suspects over the edge.

There's Kidzania in Asia but not the US? That's kind of funny considering it's a Mexican company, lol.

Somewhere in this 20 minute video, I believe she specifies people didn't like her presentation because she was a woman, might be the wrong video but I couldn't find the quote, just know that I saw it. Cracked me up, couldn't be because you were a cheesy lame soccer mom representing a horrible lineup.

Some of you need to seriously get over your dislike of this person. It was just a press conference--she didn't ruin your precious Nintendo, she didn't make the Wii go more towards a casual focus, she was just the one who took your immature, juvenile crap over it--get a life already and move on.

KidZania sounds like such a weird concept. Are kids required to spend their entire day there to simulate a 9 to 5 job? How does the mock trial work? Are there kid crimes?

She was really REALLY miscast in the role she had at Nintendo.

Some people are saying 'it's not her fault Nintendo had software draughts', but there's a reason she left her role in such a relatively short space of time.

Her knowledge and understanding of the industry was practically zero.

Worst Nintendo presser, yeah, but nothing has ever or likely will ever top Sony 2006.
I think it's up there but still a giant enemy crab and RIIIIDGE RACER does not beat Nintendo execs live on stage pantomiming with their Wiimotes as if they were playing the Mario theme on Wii Music with the help of some drummer and his imaginary, um, drums.

To accurately portray life as an adult in the U.S.A they would need to arm the kids with 9mm handguns (or the bb gun equivalent I guess?) so I can see why they would want to avoid that.

Yeah, it's a good point that the lineup this year looks like God got up off his mighty throne and personally handed us the rest of 2018 compared to 2008.

The whole reason I posted this was because I couldn't believe the concept of Kidzania and I couldn't believe she had gotten involved but I'll be damned if it doesn't seem like a good fit. Hell, she's a Harvard grad.

In the vid description I believe I read that she's not just the VP of marketing but also like the head of the American branch so hopefully soon us US Era parents will get our shot at the city of the future.

Yes, continue thinking she was the boogeywoman and it wasn't because of the harassment and utter vile commentary she received from mouthbreathing neckbeards angry over a disappointing E3.

Damn, no wonder she moved on to dealing with kids, much more maturity there than message board gamers have. I

I'm sure that's true as well. People can be horrible.

It's also true that Nintendo weren't happy with her work.

I mean that part kind of relies on her presenting as female, no? So it seems by your own account it was partly about her gender.

Personality matters, just like Don Mattrick had a horrible stage presence as a man. Both genders have good and bad stage personalities. It's not because she is a woman, it's because she's lame to listen to. Unless you want smiles brought to you while listening to a story about your broken wrist anyways. More power to you if so.

It's even weirder when you look at the location list, and see that it's 90% in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. So it's a bunch of developing world children play-acting work for American megacorps.
If you consider cities like Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, Dubai, Istanbul, Busan, Doha and Abu Dhabi as located in developing nations, sure, your numbers hold up.

Cammie will always invoke Nintendo e3 2008 memories. she was the face of that show and it was really, really bad. you can say that being a woman led to some of the hate and I believe that to be true, but if it was mr. caffeine, joel mchale or any other random person, they would be remembered as the headmaster of that tragedy as well. I will remember her name in 50 years and the only thing I will be able to recall will be that Wii Music scene. that's her legacy.

I'm glad she's done well for herself, making a comeback after being seen as such a negative by the gaming community. she ended up being the posterchild of the Wii being a casual gimmick. it's more bad timing than anything.

We had something like this when I was a kid. Someone brought it up on my Facebook feed within the last few years but I can't remember what it was called, it was in Minneapolis.

Cammie is also on the Boards of Directors of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc.: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=131715&p=irol-governance
Oh man, I love me some Red Robin. Gonna have to stop and pour one out for Cammie.

I never had a beef with her personally - I agree her presentational style didn't fit Nintendo at all, but also a good 80% (probably more) of the flak directed at her has entirely to do with her being a woman. I thought she was cute in that "mom calls every video game a Nintendo" sort of way. My favorite is when she stumbled over King Hippo's name and landed on Big Eddie.

She mentions that in the TEDx vid! I wish I had one in my area because the food looks super good!

Lol I don't remember the Big Eddie thing but if they ever make another Punch Out I need him in there.

I really liked the Wii. It's one of my favorite systems. It's just so weird! Between all the amazing light gun games and crazy exclusives I really enjoyed it. Konami's eShop exclusives, Wii Sports and Resort, Wii Fit. All were cool experiences. Hell, if I felt like hooking up my Wii U my family would still be playing Resort.

My kids and I had a blast with Umbrella Chronicles!

I've got real affection for those conferences and Cammie's part in them. They were so dreadful, but over the span of years they've grown charming and quaint to me. I couldn't imagine her in today's Nintendo, but in that time and place it really did seem like she belonged there.

What is the deal with KidZania? Is it somewhere you take your kids for a day/afteroon?

I remember Brad Shoemaker talking to her one E3 and she seemed a lot more settled and different from the stage persona in her earlier years at Nintendo.

Sexism abosolutely played a part in how the press conference was received.

Agreed.

It's a good thing no one in this thread is showing a complete lack of self-awareness by mocking her for thinking sexism played a part while simultaneously being sexist.
