I expect the combat to not be the same as 2 because it's a different character but I need to see if they learned from all of their mistakes on 2's design before I consider buying this. 2 was like the worst of open world and quest design with their rule of 3 shit. The actual open world was pretty pointless too since it only really served to funnel you from dungeon to dungeon, which is fine I'm not saying remove dungeons I'm just saying there needs to be more of a point to it than running around big plains with the occasional collectible.

I think the world design is going to be a lot more Dark Souls like, i.e more like one big interconnected world where you unlock shortcuts/get Metroidvania like abilities to access new areas.

I think it's quite early to give scores by just watching trailers or one year old bits of gameplay.

Sure, but keep in mind that Darksiders 1 is sitting on an 81, and Darksiders 2 on a 72. And those games had support and you know, budgets.

Liek I said, Im 100% getting this because I love Darksiders, I just don't see it doing well. Not 6 years after 2 came out. 3 years if your first was Deathinitive Edition.

I loved DS1 and 2. Watching this new footage, I see it still looks like shit (something I thought would be fixed from early footage). And it's actually pissing me off now. If you are gonna continue a franchise, make it look just as good, if not better than the previous. Joe Mad's art style shits all over this and it pains me to think we won't get DS3 with his designs.

Trailer is bad but gameplay snippets in the trailer are good. I like charachter design and artstyle. But they really need to show longer gameplay. I guess IGN will post those soon enough.

That's the only inspiration they've mentioned so far (both in world design and in combat/encounter design).

Fury is his design. He updated it specifically for this game.

He wasn't responsible for all the environment art and such in past games either.

Wow $400 special edition, do they realize this IP isn't exactly hot stuff even when it came out, now they're dunking that much effort into making an uber expensive edition.

Lol... This fall, Lol... Q1 next year looks better than Fall of this year.

September:
Dragon Quest XI
Spider-Man
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Valkyria Chronicles 4
Spyro Trilogy
Code Vein (maybe)

October:
Forza Horizon 4
FotNS (will probably get only because Yakuza engine/devs)
Mega Man 11
AC: Odyssey
CoDBlops: 4
BFV
RDR2

November:
Hitman 2
Fallout 76

Probavbly things I'm forgetting too. Your personal tastes aside, pretending Fall 2018 isn;t fucking brutal is insane.

That sounds good on paper. It'll come down to how well they can do it. Hopefully it's not like the surge where every area looks exactly the same.

I'm more interested in seeing the open world combat because they've specifically said there are no "arenas" anymore and it all just flows together. They've only shown that old IGN demo.

Looks like more of what I expected in a Darksiders game, which is good! Excited to see how this does.

November isn't such a great release date for this game.

I'm curious. I really liked Darksiders 1, but I lost interest in Darksiders 2 and never finished it. I hop this game is more like the first.

The Internet
Man, while I'm still excited for the game itself, all the collector and special edition things look bad. Even the steelbook looks terrible. The only thing that actually looks good are the War and Vulgrim statues. Gonna probably just pick up the game and hope to get the statues cheaper separately later, maybe through a used game product site or something.

Q1 2019 is Sekiro, DMC5 Resident Evil 2 Remake, Metro Exodus, Anthem, The Divison 2 etc etc,.

Outside of like one month in summer there's always a ton of releases now.

For big games November has Hitman 2 and Fallout 76 and Fallout 76 will be a bad game anyway. :P

The fantasy setting should allow them so more freedom at least, this trailer is a lot of fire/lava zone, and think the first gameplay one had that big worldtree type area.

Ok? That doesn't make lessen the impact of Fall's lineup at all.

What I don't understand is the pricing of that big collector's edition. The statues look like £30 ones at best. Add in 3 extra and that doesn't add up to what they're charging. Plus the bit of art and a necklace? Still not enough. It's odd.

My point was that you've gotta release it sometime, and there's probably no window that's really much better until next summer or so.

Summer would be the right time, wouldn't it? Summer's usually a drought. But, yeah, I get your point. There's no real good time frame this or next year where this game doesn't get eaten alive. Which is a shame.

This is probably the most high profile franchise THQ Nordic is publishing, I hope they're giving it the proper budget to make it successful.

Not really a trailer, more like a gameplay snippet with music. I personally think it looks fine. I like that it is back to a more slower paced combat system. The graphics are great but the animations still seem a bit weak. But there is no other Zelda-like game series out there that is even close to how good Darksiders is. I'm very optimistic and I hope it sells well. We all just have to be prepared that Darksiders 3 is from a new studio with a low budget, so keep expectations in check.

It's hard not to be excited for this when I loved the first two so so much. That trailer was okay. It's kind of baffling though. Why no story clips? Why no sound effects even? Is that even a music track from the game? I'm going to assume so but who knows.

When I saw that the collector's edition was getting a Fury figure, I immediately thought, "Well that's cool, but it would be even cooler if I could have the other two horsemen." Then I saw the super duper mega edition and rejoiced. Then I saw the price. Holy shit. Maybe I'll see if I can get it at a super deep discount somewhere down the line.

I'm still super in on this game though. I do have some expectations, which will probably hurt the experience, but I'm also just really happy we are getting a 3rd game.

Please go back to being a Zelda clone. That was fun. Gritty Zelda I want more of that, not whatever 2 was.

She does not look rendered like its in his style, like at all. And his style is very distinct, you can tell it from a mile away.

Oh 15 minutes gamplay at IGN on wednesday, nice.

What in the holy hell made them think that a Darksiders game should get a $400 collector's edition?

Eh, it's just a bundle with the game and a bunch of figurines essentially. It's just fishing for superfans/people with money to burn. I do think it's kind of amusing it has Vulgrim instead of Strife because they probably don't want to nail down his design yet.

I know lots of people hate this art style but to me it is so so good.

Yeah, but those people are bad and should feel bad.

I still don't understand why they changed her face from the comics. I see they improved it a bit but I still don't like it.

I'll buy regardless, the first 2 were very good games but man...that face.

Going to agree he face looks really bad. Hopefully the coming videos convince me this will be a decent game, I'm very skeptical right now.

All in for Darksiders III but I was hoping that it was 2019. Starting in late August, the rest of 2018 is packed, especially for me. I just completed Darksiders WARmastered edition ten or so days ago and was going to give myself a break before playing Darksiders 2 but now, I have to move this up. I do think that the game should release before Black Weekend though. November 20th would be slightly better because you don't miss out on the biggest money spending day of the year.

$400 for the set of statues would be a good deal but that Death looks like the Gaya Entertainment PVC statue that was released a few years back. I'm assuming the same company might have made the others to go with him? Fans or collectors having to sell an extra Death they already own from the set might be annoying.

Side note, that trailer left me underwhelmed.

Omg yes! I'm so fucking excited. I loved DS1 and DS2. Pre-ordered the deluxe edition on GMG as soon as I got that 25% off voucher code for DS3. I'm so ready to play as Fury.

On everything they've shown so far? Do you honestly believe this will get higher than an 8 at best?

Darksiders 1 was an 8 at best, but ive replayed it about 5 times and love it, so really, who cares what scores people are projecting on it based on a 2 minute gameplay trailer. DS1 was a better Zelda game than BoTW
