They should just make a Switch exclusive WWE game like they did with Day of Reckoning/Wrestlemania games for the Gamecube back in the day.
WWE All Stars 2

Or an in-house reboot opportunity;

2K sort of poisoned the waters on any future interest in the series on the Switch with just how horrid it was. A remarkably awful first impression.

I would be happy with a port of Fire Pro Wrestling World.

I would also accept a port of WWE All-Stars. That game was a fun spiritual successor to Wrestlemania The Arcade Game, and we know that the Switch could handle a PS3/360 port without much trouble.

I am a little worried if it is an indication that Take 2 is retreating from their position in 2017 when top brass demanded parity for Switch ports.

This is the real takeaway here. While granted WWE games tend to be better than WWE 2K18, the sales of the franchise don't really depend on quality. The fact that Take Two doesn't even think they can turn a quick buck on a port is not encouraging.

I love how people get angry at others for being ok with this. What did you expect?
WWE2k18 was a terrible port and going by this they have no intent in making it better. It's not like 2K is withdrawing support because NBA2k19 is coming, would you rather they release another broken game for the sake of "having support"?
That is just anti-consumer
I want them to release a not broken WWE game. Do not tell me that I am the one who's wrong for expecting game developers to be competent at their jobs. That's their fault, not mine.

This fall is looking worse everyday. I was hoping for a good WWE game ported by some capable studio.

For someone who hates Smash like me, rest of the year will be absolute nightmare.

Did 2K even inherit all of the THQ WWE stuff?
If you're asking if they could re release old WWE games, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they just got the licence, engine/software stuff used to make the games, and they hired some of the old THQ WWE staff, let me see if I can find a source

EDIT:
Under the terms of the new agreements between the four companies, THQ will stop selling its back catalog of WWE titles and pay WWE an estimated $650,000 in royalties for sales of WWE games during the bankruptcy proceedings. THQ will also transfer development equipment worth about $75,000 to Take-Two, along with any software and assets related to the development of WWE titles.
Take-Two will hire THQ's WWE game production staff of about 20 employees, and form new agreements with WWE and Yuke's to produce future WWE games.

They got the license and all the stuff required to continue making the games, not any of the backcatalog. Any rereleases of old games would require THQ Nordic, 2K, and WWE to come to an agreement

They just need to hire Panic Button to do the port is all.
Hiring a great company to do the port only ensures more work on the port to actually make the game competent. The game is a broken mess no matter where you play it. As others stated in this thread 2k18 was the worst of all the 2K games and 2K19 won't be different.

As much as I would love a wrestling game on the switch until we have a good developer to hand WWE games, it won't happen (at least for any WWE game)

Other companies out there working on other wrestling games have a chance to do what 2K won't (and can't) and actually release a Great wrestling game on the switch. Time will tell tho.

What they should be doing is a arcade wrestling game purposely made for the switch and not all this simulation shit. Hopefully Fire Pro Wrestling gets ported to show em how its done.

I don't think Smash is all for the rest of year, but there's nothing wrong with being picky--just sorry there's nothing interesting for you the rest of this year on Switch.

I would 1000000% percent prefer Fire Pro World on the Switch. Surprised it hasn't happened yet, but it's taken over a year to even get it on the PS4.

Take 2 needs to realistically revamp the studio behind the series etc. but at this point enough people buy the same bullshit year after year there is no motivation to actually do something positive. All versions are insanely broken messes.

Realistically this would probably require them to take at least a year off to retool internally, and I doubt the WWE would let them do that. Hell I'm surprised the WWE is cool with no Switch SKU.

Game quality and graphics aside, it was a piss poor port. The frame rate is never at the intended 30 FPS, even with 1 on 1 matches in less stressful areas, it drops constantly especially with more wrestlers on screen. It makes the game unplayable and backstage brawl is also unplayable due to it.

I forgot how bad that Switch port was.

Wow.

More money for people to spend on other more deserving games.

2k18 was a low effort port and it sold like one. A good slap on their faces. They probably thought they'd get away with it. Wii days are over.

Why are the Nintendo fans in this thread happy that a game is not coming to the platform? That doesn't seem to make sense. Bad game or not.

People who buy a bad game will probably buy one good game less. So every bad game that misses a platform (no matter Switch, PS4, PC, XOne) is a win for us all, at least when its such an obvious bad game like WWE2KXX on all platforms.

Well this is interesting news. I really want more from this game. I thought it was decent when you could play through the different eras of a certain career. The Stone Cold year comes to mind with all the footage peppered throughout. The gameplay still wasn't that great then either.

Oh well. Aside from the custom character creator, this gen seems like a disaster for this game.

I loved WWE All-Stars on PS360 even if barebones... a sequel would have been good but alas THQ/THQ San Diego didn't last

I'd like to see a Mortal Kombat 9 quality reboot of WWF The Arcade Game.

Netherrealm did WWE Immortals for phones, which was good at the time. Limited, but fun, and had the OTT Mortal Kombat stuff. They are halfway there already with that idea. I would take a consolized reboot of that too.

It still looks great as well....

Between this and WWE All Stars, they are so many good ideas not getting done.

Well, there were reports of WWE being very very unhappy with 2K over the 2K18 Switch debacle, which may mean they put SOME effort into this years game. Although doubtful. At this point I'm just waiting for Fire Pro to come out next month and make the WWE roster on that and that'll be my fix for the year. I so badly want 2K to do a good job with this series, it just feels mistreated, and aside from All Stars, all the good games were left back in the mid 00s. It's not even like the presentation is bad or the content isn't there, because it is, but the game is just boring and no fun. Literally anything is better than what we've had post SVR2006.

All this All Stars talk ;_;. What I wouldn't give for a proper sequel to that game. One of my favorite games on the 360. Played the hell out of it and it was a the perfect party game. Granted it helped I was pretty good and wrekt everyone I played even when they went 3v1. Using Edge or Orton was broken with their finisher lol.

Using an older engine, which I don't think 2k are able to do in this case.

I would like to think the Switch will end up getting a version of Fire Pro World at some point, it would sell like hotcakes.

I sure hope fire pro comes to switch. Would be a perfect fit. Maybe there waiting to lunch the Ps4 version of the game first..?
