I found Stern's reactions to it hilarious. I don't see the need to get angry or hostile at any of this. It's all just a good laugh to have for everyone involved.

What is going on in this thread? LMAO

I find that guy's reactions funny, I mean, I'm not trying to be his friend or anything like that to see how he is as a person; I just wanna laugh and I find over the top yet still believable reactions funny. He acts like a fanboy would and there ain't anything wrong with that.

"Etika fakes reactions! Phoney!"
He purposefully bought and wears a heart rate monitor on stream to disprove this, his heart rate skyrockets whenever he does these reactions. He set it up live on stream.
"Yeah but still tho."
... C'mon.

I hate that I'm talking about this but yes, an actor's heart rate will increase when acting out scenes that evoke stress, excitement etc. Energy drinks will exacerbate the effect.

For the record I personally don't care if it's genuine. It doesn't matter. It's youtube.

Etika's reaction is the fakest thing I've ever seen, how are people even entertaining that as real? If you like bad acting and yelling, then you do you, but don't try to prove that is a genuine human reaction.

Stern was super chill, not mean at all. Some of his comments were funny, but he clearly has no idea what is going on. He lives in a better place. I'm jealous of that ignorance, but video games have been my hobby for decades.

Honest question: I am always under the impression that Etika play it up for the audience and that his reactions are exaggerated instead of genuine in order to get views, am I wrong? I am always surprised when I see people actually complimenting him on his reactions, saying he's funny/genuine and stuff... are they really?

Are actors so committed to the role that they'll intentionally get close to inducing a heart attack?

He used a heart rate monitor on stream to prove to randoms that his reactions to gaming videos are real? No wonder some people like to make fun of Twitch culture.

If they are doing it with the explicit purpose of showing their audience that their heart rate increases then, yes.

This isn't exactly a blind experiment.... You can spike your heart rate by drinking too much red bull. It doesn't prove anything other than how fucking weird the culture is.

Tune into my stream guys, I'm going to be using a breathalyzer to prove to the audience that I'm not getting drunk for the camera.

i really don't care that it's fake. it's funny as fuck. what's funnier is the lot of you 'sophisticated' types who get embarassed or cringe from this. i mean, i get not liking overreacting streamers. but cringe? cmon, michael scott doing michael scott stuff is cringe, not this.

It's a dude acting as if new cartoon characters in his favorite video game is the greatest thing to ever happen to him. To me, that is sad and makes me cringe. Granted, I believe he is just acting hyped to entertain his viewers and do not believe his reaction was sincere.

Am I weird for legitimately enjoying both Etika's over the top enthusiasm AND Howard Stern's reaction to it? Both were funny and entertaining to me for different reasons. This isn't something to pick sides over. It's just how multimedia is right now, with content creators of different types having non-serious back-and-forths.

Just have some fucking fun.

Yup, Howard is on point, etika's overreactions are dumb and his language is off-putting. etika is literally unwatchable for me

I'm just disappointed that there's a huge group of people that fall for this overreaction shit. I had more faith in us.

Obviously we don't know the man in real life so we can't say if they really are, however Etika is consistent in his personality that's why his audience feels his reactions are genuine. He's a hypeman, hasn't changed one bit since I first saw him streaming nearly 4 years ago when he was averaging like 2k viewers. Now he's become one of the biggest streamers on the platform, still the same guy.

No lol. The last thing you want to do is make ERA dictate what you can like and what you can't like.

I'm with Howard on this one. I wish could get that excited about anything, even though the guy is definitely hamming it up.

Doesn't help that I've never understood the appeal of smash brothers in the first place.

Reaction videos can be the most cringe thing on gaming.

They really are, i just have a hard time watching them because 90% of them seem so over the top and forced, i get it, you are a fan a game and you are exited to see it, but when they react like they have won the biggest lottery jackpot i history i just can't help but to think they are just playing it up to go viral.

It's not funny as fuck, it's highly irritating. I'm not sure I cringed but I questioned how anyone could enjoy such obnoxious tosh.

I disagree, I jumped up onto my chair in excitement at the Resident Evil 2 reveal trailer and would have been screaming if not for other people in the house and I distinctly remember just saying "no fucking way, this is godlike, it's too good to be true" over and over again when I first saw Zelda Wii U back in 2014.

I was in tears from the Breath of the Wild trailer back in January 2017
people who really care about something can "overreact" but i kinda like it, it's cool that they are not afraid to show their raw emotions on camera.

I used to listen to a lot of stern. I'm always split right down the middle of finding him unlikable but thoroughly entertaining. Let's face it, Beetlejuice was always the king.

I am extremely unsophisticated, yet I find streamers like this guy to be obnoxious and painfully unfunny.

Edit: The way the op is worded also triggered some deep down feelings of rage.

Lmao I wonder if the new generation of streamers and content creators make more money than Stern

Maybe some of the really large ones do

Cant talk shit on a budding industry bud. Technically Howard is in the same industry in a sense
