Theoretically ignoring you could impose term limits on the SCOTUS tomorrow how long would that term be?

I'm thinking 18 minimum, with 24 being at the absolute limit isn't consider. Mandatory retirement after age 72 regardless of fixed term length

18 year terms is about right, the terms being staggered so a new Justice is appointed every 4 or 6 years. A mandatory retirement age would end up discouraging the appointment of highly qualified older candidates, though.

Yep. All of the appointees would end up being about 45 years old, which I think is about the youngest age that someone could conceivably be qualified to serve on the SC.

Bernie would probably do an interview with a telephone pole during 2016 if it'd give him air time.

Last Jedi threads ought to just be straight up banned at this point.

I assume you're talking about a Last Jedi thread?

Speaking of tire fires, the way this forum has handled the ArenaNet firings story has been a fucking joke and I'm probably gonna unplug for a while

If Ojeda wins WV-03, I wonder whether he can beat Capito in 2020. He seems like an intense and caring individual.

The mods would rather close threads than ban misogynists. Three in a row. It's some total "peace over justice" bullshit.

As someone who registered for the old place because they kept the gamergate thread open and banned everyone who behaved like that, it's really dispiriting.

I feel for the mods, because weeding out all the toxic people on a video game forum is an endless task, but it's clear things are going down the shitter around here. This is the most important game industry story of the year and we can't talk about it because there's an aversion to instabanning people who clearly swamp the place up.

Have you tried speaking to mods?

Probably best to go to an admin or a mod you really trust. In one thread that was getting (diet) racist about Black Panther, a mod posted "I don't mod threads that I post in/have personal stakes in" after a user implored him to do something (said mod wasn't posting in the thread prior). And, mods don't like you talking about moderation in public or how it has gone to crap in recent months as I can personally attest to.

So,Vimes you might want to PM and admin or trusted mod to give/get feedback.

You know what would be great.... indictments come out on trump, goes to SCOTUS for reasons, but the two trump appointees recuse themselves - it would be worth it just to see trump lose his shit over it!

I had this dream the other night. Some SC case around his indictment, but his appointees had to recuse, so it was 4 libs, 3 cons.

Gaming side, not even once.

Edit: pigeon holy shit lol

Yeah, I would go to a mod you trust. I've noticed that standards have really fallen in recent weeks/months and it really bums me out, because otherwise this is one of the better online communities I've been a part of. That ArenaNet story is total bullshit, and it breaks my heart to see people side with Gaters even on a supposedly progressive forum like this one.

South Carolina

Between this and the BMW tariff reactions, there are those who would see this state turned back 30 years.

Watch: we're the next NC if there's not some serious gains in the legislature the next two cycles.

This, combined with the Heritage Foundation's tweet last week, makes me think they're nervous about what he'll say after the meeting with Putin.

They KNOW it'll be wrong. KNOW. It's an open secret he's a mobbed-up puppet. That's where we're at where it's talked about in open terms and The Beeb is having documentaries about his sexual offenses.

And that's a GOOD thing. It's just gotta till the soil for some reprocussions, of course.

It's almost as if people who shove themselves up Trump's ass end up shitting all over everyone else in the process.

South Carolina has never even come close to being as purple as NC, though. It would be more appropriate to say that NC is at risk of becoming more like SC.

I dunno why you stay there, I couldn't be happier that my job prevents me from even going back on holidays.

Yeah, NC is a purple state that is a victim of egregious Republican gerrymandering holding it back. SC is still quite red.
