U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to break with NATO and conduct American security unilaterally — if allies do not immediately meet higher military spending targets, NATO officials and diplomats said.

Trump's warned of "grave consequences" if allies do not immediately meet higher spending targets, derailing a morning meeting of NATO leaders with the leaders of Georgia and Ukraine on the second day of a NATO leaders' summit on Thursday.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg immediately shifted the meeting of the North Atlantic Council, the alliance's top political body, into an allies-only emergency session.

NATO officials said Trump was furious over media coverage suggesting that the first day of the summit had proceeded calmly, and that he had demanded to hold a press conference immediately after the morning meeting.

Think so too. The US can't be seen as a reliable partner in the future. The EU and all partners should make arrangements without the US. It really is getting on my nerves, every few years they terrorise the world with some stupid ideas.

How much longer before a Coupe in the US?

Their first oath, at least to my limited knowledge, is to the defense Constitution of the US against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Ignoring all the other stuff Trump has done to shit on the Constitution, his pulling out of NATO represents a clear threat to the US.

Pulling out of NATO isn't just dumb, it's dangerous, not just for the US, but the whole world.

I believe Trump cannot unilaterally pull out from NATO. At very least the law is not clear at all.

But he can absolutely destroy it from within if that's what he wants, so I guess there's that.

The reason I believe he won't go postal right away is the fact that American bases across Europe have become the primordial operation centres for missions across Africa and the Middle East. If he pulls out, he essentially erases America as the current hegemon and greatly endangers it's standing as a proper superpower.

It's going to be a shitshow either way.

Trump needs other heads of state to rise to it and talk back but that just escalates things which Trump and Putin want. If others stay the course Trump has no excuse to leave.

Still, kinda crazy Trump is a Russian puppet. How do you contain such a thing. America will never be seen in a good light again until Trump and others are in prison, they cannot brush the Trump admin under the carpet and save the the blushes of the establishment, they need to air the dirty laundry.

Every single thing that contributes to the American sphere of influence and stability across the world, he attacks and dismantles. It would be better if we didn't have a president than to have Trump as one.

As long as he is in office he will continue on his quest to corrupt and divide & conquer anything that stands in his way for the sole purpose of personal empowerment and profit.
