I just realized that we barely posted any gif so far. It doesn't feel like a game of mafia this way.

Step up your game people.

Have you seen any instances of this so far? On the other hand, why is this bad - why shouldn't we be trying to convince others to join our cause? A scattered town is capable of very little.

Wouldn't being subtle about getting someone killed in day 1 be the move of a mafia who doesn't want people to look at him with suspicion if the lynched player ends up being town?

More of a scum play than a town one. Yet I feel that this is too much of a specific case, even perhaps unfounded in reality. Thus the desire for an example. How can one even be concerned about subtle manipulation? If you can tell you are being manipulated, it is not subtle at all, is it? How can I be wary of something that I cannot even detect? And the manipulation I do detect, how can I separate the good from the bad, the town from the scum. And then there is the thought that lil manipulation achieves lil or at least has a low outcome minimum.

I'm against voting for any of the newcomers Day 1 purely because I prefer to give them a grace period (even though it's statistically likely at least one scum is within that group).

As for who I'd vote for instead... I'm not sure at this point. I don't like how inactive Absolutbro has been so far, but it's not a justifiable enough reason to vote for him.

By the way, be wary of scum bussing a scum lynch candidate, especially this early on. I heard that's a common tactic for them. Voting history is important, but it shouldn't ever be the deciding factor of deducing someone's alignment.

I mean if it wasn't day one I think I'd be with you. But it's Day 1 and everyone has their eyes open to everything because nothing else is going on.

This is also very true (looks back to my Mafia game with Nin, I will never be sorry).

Who do you think matches that description so far?

Have you seen any instances of this so far? On the other hand, why is this bad - why shouldn't we be trying to convince others to join our cause? A scattered town is capable of very little.

I don't think convincing someone to join your cause is bad, but I dunno, the reason I voted for rac is because I felt like he used Fireblends suspicion of Extreme Tactician and Stuart to try to direct people towards ET.

It's just a hunch though. I'm probably looking to far into it. I have no idea what I'm doing still

Welcome Tearable!

You should be able to catch up quick as there isn't much to read.

Okay I'm way behind and skimming but wanted to apologize for being absent. The basement flooding was worse than originally though and I spent the last two days drying carpets, hauling out dry wall and insulation (and to the dump), and then removing the carpets which could not even remotely be salvaged. Lemme go back and read.

Even for day 1, there's not a lot of votes being thrown around. Everyone's able to vote, may as well use it. It might even push discussion along a little bit.

Do we think most of the Mafia have already shown their face and said something, or do we think a majority of the Mafia is still hiding inside of the non-active people? I'm strictly talking about games strategy here and not personalities shown already, if that makes sense. If you were mafia what would you do? Become active now, or become active later only when you have too?

I would lean towards maybe a split, but I also thinks it's beneficial for Mafia to get into the minds of Townies by being present a lot, and making them comfortable.

Also, never was a fan of not lunching Day 1 simply because it gives us more information on ANYTHING. Shows us who wanted to lynch them, who didn't, etc. Though I understand when some say it's too big of a risk for such small return if we hit a townie, and so if you all dont want to lunch I completely understand.
I'm curious what you were thinking about with the first half of your post, since you basically asked a question no one could realistically answer.
I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who suffers from autocorrect changing lynch to lunch. :P

Scum is just ba group of players. There will always be a split in terms of activity. We have a pretty decent amount of vets playing this game. I'm assuming scum vets have already shown themselves, and scum newbies are laying low. Their strategy won't be apparent until lynches start happening.
NAI, and this is just the first reply to save everyone space, but the series of posts after Worthy's question are fluff to me. They don't say anything and it's concerning that no one pointed it out.
Oh and for new people. NAI = Not Alignment Indicative aka probably not something to use to say someone is scum or town.
You seem busily active Stu, would that be the right descriptor?

It was really a personal question regarding how others see the Mafia moving about Day 1 throughout their experience playing. I personally, throughout my games, have seen Mafia mostly be very confrontational, so I wanted to gauge how others felt about that situation.

Okay, so what information were you hoping to get out of their answers though?
I don't give myself descriptors, I let other people do that!
Would you agree with mine then?
