Just finished it; amazing stuff. Pretty much did everything except a few trophies I don't care about. Those last enemies are no joke. The worst thing about the DLC is Aloy mentioning Blue Gleam every few minutes, but that says a lot on the quality of this DLC... now to wait for the sequel :/
Is it worth platinuming TFW? I'm pretty sure the only thing I have left to do is the hunter trials but it sounds like they're really tough this time around. What do you get for actually completing them along with Ikrie's challenge? Since I'm still on my first playthrough I guess I could cheese it and lower the difficulty but at this point I'm more interested in starting a NG+ and taking all of the excellent gear from the DLC over to the base game again. On that note, do any collectible items like flowers, figurines, etc. reset upon starting a NG+?
It's not something I've noticed when using my Gold's.
3D audio is only available on the Platinum headset, is there a setting to turn it on in the menu? Could be that's causing an issue if you've turned it on as the headset can't play it properly.

TFW doesn't have a separate platinum from the base game. Just 2 sets of new trophies, and none of them are difficulty related. Ultra hard and New game plus are not required for Base game platinum.
Yes, the collectibles will reset for NG+. You only get to carry forward your inventory, weapons, armor, shards and skills.
The game just looks stupid, though. I barely make any progress because I end up staring at the scenery for minutes at a time. The graphics are hilariously good. There really is no other game that compares. Does ANY game feature more impressive snow tech? I can't think of one. The snow looks, sounds, and behaves exactly as it would in real life.
Lol I can relate. I have to burst out laughing every now and then because the game looks crazy good and I don't know how to deal. The visuals are straight disrespectful.
Does anyone have a spare PS Plus 3 day code or whatever? Looking to pick up the DLC for the Plus price. I don't use my PS4 much so I let my Plus subscription lapse years ago. Thanks!
So I mostly finished up with all the trophies for Frozen Wilds with the exception of needing to grind from level 59 to 60.
While mopping up a few of the other trophies I went back to the main game area and holy shit, did Guerrilla release some kind of patch to improve graphics since launch? The game always looked good but returning to the earlier areas blew me away. The terrain, the lighting, the art design - it's all amazing.
The next step for me is to start NG+. Just how bad is Ultra Hard?

For the regular game it's still quite do-able. Everything is a lot more expensive and the machines hit way harder, but a tactical approach, decent mods and some cheesing take you a long way. The DLC is much less forgiving - it's a hardcore experience because they tend to throw many different machines at you at the same time, and crowd control gets a lot more difficult on UH.
The best armor for ultrahard is the sneak/silent one with three slots (four with the dlc version). You lose aggro and attention very fast with it and it let you sneak (and run) very close to robots. Then the blue-shielded one in general fight, and some resist for specific situation.
With violet gear it's not that hard to kill, but you get two shoted easily and have to focus on weak point because robots HP are higher. It'a also harder to debuff robots, you need 3 arrows at the bare minimum for small one.
So its important to be conservative with consumables. The taming-farming can be usefull : you tame a big robot surrounded by smaller one, they kill each other then you just have to loot :-)

Thanks guys. I decided to go ahead and start a NG+ awhile. Since I still have my original save, I can always go back and complete the remaining hunter trials or resume my progression towards collecting various items like metal flowers, figures, etc.
Just finished up the DLC on Ultra Hard last night. Man, Frost/Fire Claws and Scorchers are NO JOKE on Ultra Hard! The DLC is wonderful, and an excellent "button" on a magnificent game. Now I need to complete a playthrough of the main game on UH.
For fireclaws/frostclaws I use the opposite fire/ice thrower weapon. You go through blaze and chillwater like nothing though so stock up. Or if they aren't demonic just override them to set them up for more damaging hits and set them against a bunch of other machines.
Is there supposed to be some kind of interaction with Gildun in Song's Edge after you rescue him? He says something about telling your story but Aloy replies with something like "I don't have time right now." I've completed all the quests and now he's standing around in Longnotch.
Corruption arrows are 100% getting a nerf in Horizon 2.
Playing some of the frozen wilds, and there is this area with like 5 or 6 tramplers. I'm assuming GG was supposed to make it this cool combat encounter and take them out skillfully?
Just hanged back, and a few arrows later, they did all the work for me.
Phew, did everything except NG+. Clocking over 100 hours. A lot of that was photo mode shenanigans though. :D
So the last hunting grounds mission, playing on Hard... I totally cheesed it with the upgraded Stormslinger. Don't know if that'd work on Very/Ultra Hard (probably not), but basically, my "strategy" was:
1) Scorchers: pop a fire resist potion + lightning resist potion, hotkey the Full Health potion; slide down, spam the Stormslinger, taking care not to kill myself. Pop a potion/use medicine pouch as needed, minimal dodging/evading;
2) Ice bellowbacks: Pop an ice resist potion (and another lightning one since it's probably expiring by now), repeat;
3) Frostclaws: see step 2
Non-spoiler version: just go Rambo and facetank everything, no real skill necessary. :D

The DLC hunting ground was savage on Ultra hard. I've watched videos of players blowing through it on normal or hard with the stormslinger. I couldn't do it on UH, had to drop it down to very hard and barely managed 1st place after many attempts.
I still want to see someone get 1st place on all 3 trials on Ultra hard!

Depends on the bow, mods, and difficulty. Shadow War bow on hard or higher will apply the effect on small-medium machines in 1 arrow. You'll need 2 arrows for bigger ones.
Ever got annoyed by a bunch of glinthawks? Corrupt one and see them all fight each other and drop like flies ;)
Yeah, I think it'll ask you to select what difficultly you want before starting, but then you're stuck with that. You can change it from the Main Menu screen before selecting NG+ if you wanna be extra safe though.
Corruption arrows definitely need a nerf. The other "problematic" stuff (tearblast arrows, sticky bombs, ropes) seem to have been soft-nerfed against the new DLC machines, as I feel they're much less effective than against the base machines.
So I heard you need to play the DLC before finishing the main quest, before the quest Deep secret of the earth or The mountain that fell, is this right? Im almost halfway through the main game and it's my first playthrough at very hard (but I only plan to do one playthrough)

You can play the DLC whenever you damn please, to be honest. You can even beat the game and then play the DLC (what I did). Playing the DLC as late as possible seems to be the best way to fit it into the game though
The Survivor sidequest is one of my favorite sidequests in any game ever. The quest itself is unspectacular, but the writing and acting is so fantastic.

To be brutally honest with you, the biggest difference between starting the DLC, say, first chance you have or waiting until you are done with the game is that you get to ask questions about a certain NPC that helps you out in the last third of the game, you also get some random dialogue with him. That's really about it, I wish there was more, by the time I beat the DLC I had already beaten the main game but Aloy sorta plays dumb when learning some information she should already be aware of but its nothing too bad really.
I recommend playing the DLC last because the result of main story quest really doesn't work, in my opinion, if Aloy is just same random Nora girl fresh out of her village.
So, I fucking loved Horizon, think it probably had my favourite combat of the year...so is it just me or did they severely hamper that combat in The Frozen Wilds. Zero Dawn had such a huge variety of options at your disposal, so many ways to approach a hunt. So many weapons and traps, and then ways to manipulate enemies to interact on top of that. Unless I'm missing something Guerrilla severely limited your options in The Frozen Wilds. It feels like everything that I used to have at my disposal is entirely ineffective. Tripwires? They do barely anything, whether through damage or through elemental effects. Ropes? It takes forever to tie enemies down, and then they get free extremely quickly. Elemental arrows (even with the bow that increases their effect) don't seem to do a whole lot either. Traps are similarly ineffective. Many of the enemies you come across can't be overridden. It seems you're either left spamming damage (even after applying an elemental effect either through your weapons or by hitting a cannister/blowing up a sack) with your arrows or using one of the three new weapons they give you.
Am I missing something? I've played through the DLC's story, completed all of the sidequests except for the Chieftain Hunting Trial (about five minutes is my best, so far -.- ) and the entire time I felt like my options had been severely limited. I appreciate the attempt at providing more challenging encounters and enemies, and I think the scorchers and robot bears are really cool...but I think their approach to tougher enemies has torn to shreds one of the biggest things I loved about this game.

They want you to use the new weapons, sure. But they didn't make the earlier ones ineffective.
DLC enemies (daemonic) are tougher than the enemies from the base game, to begin with. They are also more aggressive. Plus the fact that you can't override the daemonic types (just like corrupted types) and you can't override the new machines until you beat the main story.
Trip wires, especially blast wires are amazing. If modded correctly, they do a ton of damage - perhaps the most damage of all weapons.
Rope caster is MVP. Modded correctly with handling mods, it can tie down any machine in 4-5 ropes. You can also tie them partially to restrict their range, apply your debuff (elemental damage) and then focus on actual damage.
Elemental arrows in general feel a bit weaker in the DLC because enemies are tougher and also have stronger/more resistance. Best way is to have multiple war bows, each one stacked with mods of a single element for max debuff.
I couldn't have done Ultra Hard without the trip caster or rope caster, so no, they are in no way limited.

Is anyone finding much use for the Stormslinger? It seemed cool at first but now feels pretty weak compared to the other new weapons. It won't take damage mods so I just loaded it with handling mods to make it's fire rate quick as possible. Maybe it'll be more useful back in the main game against non-daemonic machines.

There's a quest to upgrade the 3 new weapons if you haven't done that yet. The default Stormslinger kinda sucked, but the augmented one is ridiculous. You can take off half a Frostclaw's HP in less than 10 seconds with overcharged shots on Normal. Just be careful of the backfire damage.
That Banuk Powershot Bow with %51 increased damage modifiers, is the absolute truth. That, along with their ability to charge shots for added damage makes it almost overpowered. The special weapons for me at least, are meant to be used in concert with the bows/slings. They induce weakened states in enemies and trivialize a lot of encounters. Fireclaws are easy prey for the Improved Icerail coupled with the Powershot.

The default one is meh, but the upgraded one is pure cheese. Pop a lightning resist potion, wear a lightning resist armour (or the shieldweaver, which I did), and you can facetank/Rambo your way through most encounters.
