Everyone gets the same amount of XP, you'll just level faster simply because you're lower, until you catch up to him, then you'll level at the same speed
You get the rewards for challenges the moment you complete them
Each challenge gives 2 tokens, which token it is depends on what activity you're doing(Io challenges will drop Io tokens)
Turn them in at the Farm/Tower. You'll see something flashing on the Farm/Tower map which tells you there is someone to interact with.

Keep in mind that vendors will also ping on the Director and in-game even if you don't have enough Tokens for a package. Small QOL of change for that coming soon, hopefully.

Maybe Xur shouldn't sell multiple exotics directly. Maybe Xur displays the same number of exotics (1 per class and one weapons) and a quest you can only complete once. The quest should be something like Rat King, but doesn't require a fireteam to complete. At the end you can buy 1 exotic for 4x the price they're offered for now. Xur makes it too easy to get everything.

It hasn't been updated for Destiny 2 yet, which is a shame, but all of my favourite lore stuff came from http://www.ishtar-collective.net. It took the Destiny 1 grimoire and ordered the cards by subject, so you can read them back to back in order and understand the stories told. At the very least you can learn more about some of the characters you've seen or just read more around the Destiny universe.
Hopefully they'll update for 2 soon.
I've spent hours reading the lore, it's great.
I use the Ishtar Collective as my main resource. I thought about starting up a thread dedicated to the little known stories in the Destiny universe, but instead opted for highlighting some lore pieces on a weekly basis in this thread.
They've already got Destiny 2 stuff in the database. Most of it comes from the stuff you can read on the various Lore tabs found on armor, ships, sparrows and sub-classes.

Something's been driving me up the wall right now, but how do I unlock patrols? When doing them for challenges I found out that I couldn't find the patrol activation points but my friend could, so I looked it up and apparently it was part of a quest with Cayde on Io that has him giving you a quest to do it on the Farm? I'm in post-campaign now and talking to Cayde doesn't seem to have anything patrol related to tell me nor do I see any quests that indicate it, but my milestone still says to set up a patrol beacon for Cayde-6 on the EDZ and any Googling hasn't been fruitful so... what do I do?
I did one on the previous page. I'm still trying to figure out formatting because some of these things are pretty long. I just threw #FridayLore in the post to make it easier to find.

After you finish your work on Io, Cayde-6 will give you a quest to set up Patrol missions. Head over to the EDZ and there should be blue banner mission near the top left of the map near Firebase Hades. When you get there it'll show up as a flashing beacon in the ground. Once you do that mission it'll activate patrols for the entire solar system.
Playing the campaign right now. Is it me or did Bungie reuse/made a homage to some Halo CE level layouts? The part with the tank feels a lot like Assault on the Control Room with the single bridge to double bridge and the slope when leaving the tunnels. Now I'm on the ship where you get help from Holliday where the layout of the room looks a lot like the room in Truth and Reconsilliation where you steal the Spirit troop ship. And somewhere in the beginning of the campaign where you get the truck to escape and you get picked up by Holliday is near the ending of The Maw in Halo CE.

Yes, some sections put me in mind of Halo too. Think it has a lot to do wth the criticism the D1 campaign got, and Bungie wanting a good story narrative at the heart of D2.

I kinda like you need to search around a bit, grimoire in D1 and to a lesser extent gear lore text in D2. It's awesome that GustyGardens will be seeding some lore in here every week.

was playing pvp today with my bro and we went against this guy that had a sword for the whole match... that shit is freaking cheap man, its a 1hit kill. 2 games against him and he slaughtered our team. 3rd game 2 more of these sword only folks joined, we just raged quit at that point. not a fan of whatever weapon that is, needs to be nerfed or something.
According to DIM, it took me ~130 gunsmith packages to get an Antiope drop. One of the guys in my clan has three of them. RNG, grumble grumble.
This would be great. Like the old Heroic strikes, but turned up to 11 and with modifiers to keep it fresh.
Side note, feels good to be here. Never took part in the old D1 community despite years of reading the thread and putting in 1200 hours on D1.
The sword is only a one hit kill while he has Power Ammo. As an extremely short-range weapon, it's a fun choice but absolutely not OP unless you're willing to camp around corners like crazy.
Don't let the enemy hog Power Ammo, it can make or break a match easily! Try using Rocket Launcher or Fusion Rifle or Shotgun and turn the tables on them :)
I played Destiny 1 and just bought Destiny 2 for PC last night. I'm liking it a lot but on a lot of forums there are people who just complain about a lot of things--the loot, the chat, the lack of end game. Are these legitimate issues or are people just trolling?
Yah, those squatting sword folks can be a problem in PvP... The increased FOV when using a sword, coupled with hiding around corners, really helps them sneak around and slash you. If someone is good with blink, it can be even worse. It really helps if two or three squad members team up on a sword dude.
On a side note, I kept camping heavy ammo last night (I'd start waiting at about 10 seconds) and my random teammates continued to shove me out of the way and take the ammo... SO LAME. Have some courtesy, please. If you camp the ammo, I'll respect it and move on.. do the same, pls.

I figured out how to strafe boost on your Pike or Sparrow on PC last night. Double tap A or D. Don't think the game tells you this at all, I've yet to beat the game so I don't have a Sparrow yet. I just tested it on some random Pikes on Nessus.
The Destiny community is rarely happy. Good news is that Bungie are listening to the genuine points people are making about endgame content, level of challenge, private PVP matches, and any number of QoL improvements.
Way I look at is D2 was likely kicked off 2015 ish with a brief of "total reboot". Same time, D1 live team delivers more content which is generally seen as positive and builds on the core experience considerably. D2 has a long time to run yet, and Bungie hear the feedback.

Depends. What PL are you? Past about 270, the best way to level is stick to Powerful Gear milestones. Everything else will continually drop gear that's useless to you (outside of weapons you might want to use in Crucible).
Swords require power ammo. A team that commands power ammo is going to mash you, whether it's a sword or a rocket launcher. It would not be any different against a team where someone is constantly running around with Sins of the Past.
The chat is a legitimate complaint, at least from a PC player perspective, it feels like a single player game with advanced AI populating the world. At best you can whisper people if they enabled it in settings (should be on by default). Having played many MMOs on PC it's really weird not being able to communicate with random people in the world.
227 last I checked. I finished the campaign last night and have been completing challenges mostly.
Then just keep doing whatever you want. Everything is going to yield drops you want every once in a while. Definitely focus on your milestones, though.
I'm at 229 packages combined and still haven't had it drop. It's the one gun I want... ;-;

Bungie takes user really seriously. That's why there's no voice chat by default, no friendly fire, idling takes you back to orbit, etc. I'm honestly kinda shocked they included keyboard chat at all.

DESTINY ERA (DRE) DISCORD IS NOW OPEN
We are reopening the Discord today. However, this will be slow. 4chan & 8chan raids are continuing (one happened this morning), so invites will be 1/person and single use. At this time, invites are only for DGAF regulars, folks who people on this server have known for a long time and can personally vouch for. It is not necessary that they be a die hard poster, but they should have a history with us.
Invite procedure: PM a mod on Discord with who you want to invite, and the mod will issue you an invite code. If you are not already on the discord, then you may PM me here on Reset. We will then review the logs to make certain that person actually joins, not some rando. You can PM any mod for this.
We will open wider with time, but it is very unlikely that we will put an open invite in the OT again given this recent unpleasantness.
I have a question for PC players: Has anyone not in a clan had the performance degradation issue? After about 2-3 hours of play, my game starts to get slowly more unplayable. Thankfully a simple game restart fixes this and it takes a few hours, but it's annoying. I heard a rumor that it was related to being a member of clan, but I'm not convinced and would like that data point. A more compelling data point would be if someone was in a clan, had the slowdown/performance issue, then left the clan and it went away...
