I'm having some sympathy with the comments about leaving the house and anxiety. I can't talk about gaming IRL because I'm so far out of the expected demographic for it, and most people don't follow the industry that closely anyway. I can't really let loose about my favorite topics like politics or most of my weird social views, because people just don't seem to want to hear it (understandable). And along with IRL people come social obligations to go do things when I don't feel up to it mentally or just plain don't feel like it. I don't like causing hurt or weird feelings, and it's obnoxious to think that people think I'm weird. I don't think I'm weird. I'm just a total a loner. Sometimes, nothing feels as great as just opting out. And I'm comfortable and good with that. So why does it have to constantly feel like a struggle?

One thing I've learned about myself as I get older is that some of my best and most interesting relationships and conversations over the years tended to happen online. But what's a little disconcerting is how many threads I read, then have feelings and reactions to what was said, never post anything at all, and yet feel like I've had some kind of experience. That seems a bit ... off.

Fuck my life. I currently work part time, 2 days a week, at a great place. Our office admin/jack of all trades dude is leaving after this week and I was approached about possibly replacing a lot of his work, turning my job into a full time thing. Had to turn down because of my health. My arthritis seems to be getting worse, spreading from just my thumbs to the rest of my fingers, so I just don't think I could do it. Fuck me. I'm not even 30 and I'm a burden to my husband, who has to hold onto a job he doesn't like because it has good insurance and I don't work enough hours to qualify at my current job.

Linkura -- sorry to hear that :(. Is there nothing that can be done to treat arthritis?

I had a lovely weekend. Bridal party stuff, yoga, work party (I won a lot at blackjack and akso a Starbucks gift card), and overall quite productive. However, a partner (at the firm) did rub his hand down my sheer black dress to my butt at my work party, and the male yoga instructor gave me a shoulder massage during class. (He didn't do it to anyone else and no female instructor has ever done this to me before.)

TBH it doesn't even bother me at all, it's more like lol man people really like touching other people sometimes. My husband thought it was weird when I told him about these two things, but I'm clearly not bothered so he shrugged it off. I think he's becoming more aware of what happens to me versus him in normal settings.

I think at this point I'm like well shit what can you do, right? I has hoped I would have aged out of this because I'm almost 30 and feel like I'm not a young adult anymore but I'm beginning to worry that women don't age out of being touched. Am I just not old enough? Will men stop touching me when I start to look like I'm 60 or if I start sagging everywhere? Am I overthinking all of this? lol

And you know I used to think it was a power thing, but I have noticed a markedly different amount of this kind of stuff when I am looking better (contacts, makeup, more skin showing) than when I'm going frumpy (classes, covered up). Is it just me? Does anyone else have that?

Pet- No cure unfortunately. I currently wear braces on both of my hands and that helps a lot with my thumb pain. If it is indeed spreading, I'll probably need another type of brace. The fingers could just be overuse though. Hoping that is the case. I ordered an ergonomic mouse that arrives tomorrow. Hopefully it'll help.

Cortisone shots can help with arthritis pain but again, it's not a cure and you can only do cortisone shots so many times before they stop helping. My orthopedic doctor is hesitant for me to start them now since I'm so young.

OTC painkillers don't do diddly either. And I don't want to try rx painkillers for obvious reasons.

No, that's very helpful thank you. A perfume thread was requested by some of the members. Will add to OT.

I'm going through the process of making an inventory of my wardrobe and when I think of shoes I get sad. I feel like I look frumpy as hell if I don't wear heels, but I live in NYC and it's torture to commute with them. In the winter it's not too bad because my boots have a little bit of heel but in the summer it's terrible. I just wanna look cute and fashionable without pain. ;-;

One of my three pairs of shoes carked it on Saturday. RIP. They were my favourites. I couldn't walk for shit in them, but they were so comfortable to wear. Padded and soft... The other two pairs don't even fit properly.

(I only have - had, I guess - three pairs because I don't want to wear man shoes and most stores tend to max out at size 10. Also I'm just fussy.)

I cant think of a pair of heels that actually looks cute (well I do have one, but you couldnt buy those in stores here, I had to order them from asia).

I prefer trainers, and converse look cute too if you combine them right imho anyway.

Are wedge sandals an option?

I have kid size feet, so I regularly wear kids' sandals with a short wedge. It might not be as glamorous as heels, but it's better than fucking up my feet and tendons permanently from wearing them too often.

I'm gonna be super pissed when payless goes out of business and my supply of super cheap shoes is gone.

I'm the same regarding Payless, being low income as I am I can't really afford to get higher quality shoes really at all so Payless has been a blessing in giving me affordable options for a variety of outfits and styles. Plus I take right after my mother in the foot department among other things and it's easy to find size 11's on their site where as in stores in can be a pita at times. Really gonna miss when they are gone =/

This morning I couldn't find the hair clip I wanted to use when I was getting ready. I knew I'd been wearing it the night before but couldn't figure out where I put it. So I just grabbed another clip like it (but different color) and went on with my day. Well. I just found the other clip five minutes ago. It was still in my hair. I must have slept in it haha

Between being sick and catching up at work it's been crazy busy recently- haven't really had any time to post or even browse much... thankfully Thanksgiving break starts today! I may hibernate all weekend and only wake up for turkey.

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather for so long, hopefully you feel fully better soon! Though if you hibernate now through the weekend the turkey will be long gone by then!

You make a good point! Guess I should stay awake for the turkey and then sleep forever. And thanks, I am feeling better thanks to my trusty antibiotics, but catching up from the work I missed was the worst. lol

Yes! Plus Turkey makes you drowsy so you'll have a full belly and a sleep aid perfect for hibernation! That's good that they helped as being sick is never fun, hopefully the catch-up work doesn't take too long.

I can still get some decently cheap shoes from China off ebay and aliexpress, but that means I can't try them on beforehand, and returning them is usually too expensive. I've had to do it regularly for cosplay, but it's always nerve-wracking.

Wedge sandals are definitely an option! I should check some out once spring rolls around.

Oh geez. That one guy going, "Sexism in the ad isn't real because the woman has her own personal experience. If you are offended then that's YOUR fault."

How do you unironically white knight an ad?
I don't think anyone does. It's all deliberate.
Whether they know what they're doing, I'm not sure, but I personally recognize a personality type when I see one.

I ate too much food today >_< At least I get a months break/time to burn that massive mountain I ate today off before Christmas, though sadly my mothers turkey was on the smaller side so I don't really have any leftovers :(

My new job is casual and I still went and got some business casual clothes because I've never not worked behind a counter in an apron. I'm sure by a week's end I'll be wearing jeans and ratty band t-shirts but still
