4k60 video is fucking amazing. Had a friend of mine use my phone to take a video of a thanksgiving gathering we did a couple days ago and I was truly blown away. Way bigger of a difference than I thought it would be.

Loving my decision to set it as my default

Not a chance. My 32GB device was awful and I knew I'd stretch 64GB eventually. I take a lot of photos. Apple Photos is not a good app with which to use cloud storage. Google Photos is far superior. Somehow, Apple Photos still use a solid amount of device storage space, even if optimize is on.

Apple Photos shrinks down the cache when you need disk space so it shouldn't be an issue, you actually want to have it take up as much free storage as possible so that you don't always have to pull stuff from the network

Yeah, iCloud Photos worked wonders on my 16GB 5S. I see no point in having all my photos and videos stored locally on my phone but I keep a complete local copy on my Mac. I'm sitting at 28GB used lol. I still think it's ridiculous to sell a 1000$ phone with a 64GB base model.

I'm aware. It doesn't work like you think IME. My phone would regularly run out of storage space even with optimize on. And Photos would be taking up 10+ gigs.

iCloud storage is one thing that's keeping me from definitely wanting to switch back to iPhone. Unlimited Google storage for photos is great.

Ive had my 32GB iPhone 7 Plus for a year now and ive only used 17.6GB. Music is streamed, all photos and videos go to the cloud. I have all my internet banking apps, my social media apps, media apps and various other installed.

Im actually heavily considering upgrading to a 64GB X and even then I am thinking thats way too much storage than what I need!
iCloud has been a life saver for me.

I am currently paying £40 on the Apple Upgrade Programme and seeing that the X is only £16 more expensive a month, it is super tempting to upgrade now.

You can use Google Photos on your iPhone. I do. But it's not as elegant on iOS, obviously. Also, it's a total PITA to mass download Photos from Apple Photos. I ask anyone to counter my point to go ahead and try it. When I want to export photos to put on another backup, I can't. Terrible.

I download chunks of photos all the time and then export them to Lightroom for use on my site or Flickr. I don't know how it could be simpler.

I should say I do this on my computer because I can't add watermarks on my phone. Or at least that option has always eluded me.

Picked one up two days ago after my 6 pretty much finally bit the dust. Was pretty hard to swallow at first, BUT MAN, I am so glad I did. I have enjoyed every second I've used this phone. Really didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I have. The screen being nearly the whole phone is amazing. And faceid is surprisingly working very well.

Kindly explain the process over Photos because as far as I can tell, and as far as Google searching is doing, I'm not the only one with this issue. You'd be a life saver!

So I'm in Canada and only just learned about the iPhone upgrade program and found I can get the iPhone X from Apple for $50 per month, that seems like a way better deal to me.

Even over 24 months that's $1200, which is $100 less than buying outright. And it includes Apple Care + which would cost an additional $250, so it's more like $300 less. Are there any negatives?

EDIT: wait that's American

I got turned off by how they do the financing. You're basically taking out a small loan from a bank every time you get a new phone with the plan. Maybe it doesn't actually have any impact on your credit or finance history, but the concept creeped me out enough to make me stick to normal financing.

After having used my X for a few weeks I've gone full fanboy. I'm so happy with how well it works. The camera's a big step up from the 7 plus. It's fast, has great battery life, and the screen's top notch. No pun intended. But on that topic: I stopped noticing the notch about a week ago. It doesn't intrude at all, though I don't use my phone for watching movies or TV shows.

With the iPads on sale, I kind of want one. But I refuse to go Touch ID anymore.

My 2016 MacBook, too, needs Face ID. It would be particularly awesome on a laptop. Windows Hello says Hello to online shopping with Apple Pay and Face ID.

You are talking about Apple's Photos, correct? I just go to iCloud.com, select all the photos I want in the Photos section, and hit download.

Ah, yeah. I've tried that. It doesn't work for bulk downloading. I have to tap each photo individually and one miss of a target and it all resets. I don't know why Apple makes life so difficult. Do you have a better way? Am I doing it wrong?

Yeah, you'd have to select all the ones you want individually then bulk download those.

However, with the iCloud for Windows app there is a setting to "Download new photos to my PC." That might work.

When my phone has reached 100% charge on my wireless charger, my phone screen lights up and stays on. I do my charging overnight, so this is incredibly annoying to wake up to. Is there a way to disable that?

I'm getting my mom an iPad Pro for her bday in a month and I'd love to wait for a new one but for $125 off I guess it's non negotiable.

I just bought a couple of them as gifts. I don't think most people would care, particularly since my gift recipients don't own iPhone Xs. They know no better, like the people saying Face ID is a downgrade. Just no experience with it, heh.

Based on my experience with my iPhone X, that's not normal behavior. Because of that, I don't believe there's a setting for it.

Walmart has a deal where if you purchase an iPhone X (also includes 8/7) you get a $300 giftcard but its only if the network is AT&T or Verizon.

Same here, was eyeing an iPad Pro but since I got my X, I don't want Touch ID or a home button. Smaller bezels and an A11X would also be nice. My iPad mini 2 will have to do for another year.

The model I want is available for pickup at my local store. I'm an Android guy but always have an iPhone as well and I'm selling my old 6 to my sister to give to one of her kids.

I can also use it as a business deduction.

Basically I have to buy one, right?
