Wow... this game is a celebration of the Mario franchise. I can't help myself but smile while playing. Caps off Nintendo ;)

Loving every second of this game.
Put dow the pro controller and rocking both joy cons, feels pretty good.

I play a lot in handheld but actually find it quite a downgrade graphically compared to other switch games. It just pops in docked mode on the TV.

My only issue is the motion controls but thats probably on me at the moment, I'm sure when I get it down it will be perfect.

I can't be only one that thought the Bullet Bill controls were perfectly fine, right?

I've only had a couple Cappy-throwing mishaps via Joycon and that's it as far as control issues go.
also wondering what everyone else is complaining about. they feel exactly as i thought they were supposed to.. is it inverted by any chance?

anyway, pacing is perfect so far. love that you can take your time on a kingdom or go back to old ones, but if you choose to continue on it just keeps throwing new things your way. the game is sublime. controls like a dream.

Are some of the visible moons only post final boss content? Or should I be able to reach any moon I see without coming back?

I just made it to the Metro Kingdom with 202 moons. Pretty good amount of progress if I do say so myself.

OK I caved and bought the Mario bundle. An hour left in the download. (Why didn't they preload this in the bundle?!) Getting excited...

I'm only playing this game for 30 minutes at a time. I want to savor it for as long as possible. It's one of the best games I've played and I could tell that from the first moment. Everything from the controls to the art to the music felt just right. It's bliss.

Count me as someone who felt out the bullet bill controls easily and was rocketing quickly through the obstacles I saw a bad treehouse player go really slowly through and crash multiple times in

It felt surprisingly fun to fly around in bullet bills.

What a stunning charming game, put in 3 hours straight, literally just stopped and calling it a night. In the desert now, taking my time to explore.

I'm only a little over 3 hours in, but I really love this game so far.

The movement feels so responsive, the variety in locales and enemies is great, and even with so many moons it doesn't feel like there are too many so far.

One thing I noticed is that it does feel easy, but then I realized it's because there are no lives now. I have no issues trying to charge at certain problems even if it ends up costing me my life because all I lose is 10 coins.

So, I have ended up dying a bit more than I thought I would, but I honestly prefer it this way. It still has challenging sections, but it never feels like I have to hold back over a fear of losing a life or anything like that.

I picked this up at Best Buy for my son for Christmas. I think they had 5-6 copies left.

I was originally going to ask for it myself, but maybe this year is the year I pass the videogaming torch to my son. Dad can't get the coolest video games for Christmas anymore.

Really enjoying this a lot, like a ton. It scratches my explore every nook and cranny itch really well and has a great sense of humor. Not to far in but I'm super hooked already.

Man I regret not finishing the last guardian before playing this.

Don't get me wrong, TLG is a PHENOMENAL game. But the controls are going to sour me even more now :(

I blew myself up about six times thinking they were tank controls before I realized they're relative to screen direction. Was easier after that.

There's times where you are pressing left and turning one way, then pressing left again and turning the other way. There was one moon needed to take a break from because I was going insane.

When you say relative to screen direction, if the bullet is facing left (<—) would you press the stick up to turn right?

He can just get them any other day of the year whenever he wants ;)

I'm pretty sure posessing a stack of Goombas in order to reach a platform and the ground pounding then all to death once they've served their purpose is the darkest thing I've done in a video game.

This is only the third game I own for the Switch since launch. I prefer the pro controller for most everything, but the joy cons feel so natural for this. I'm really impressed.

Second day with Mario Odyssey, and I'm still very impressed. It's a game that I just can't let go of playing. Just got to Metro Kingdom, which I'm surprised was so far late in the game. Not really a big fan of the Broodals, they feel something that wouldn't fit into a Mario game. Luckily the bosses you fight with capture powers are so great that it makes up for it. The plot is kind of silly with how much Bowser is getting to steal. I wonder how much stuff Bowser will steal, maybe he'll steal an entire chapel by the end of the game.

I really hope a lot of these characters become Mario mainstays---I want Moe-Eye and Jaxi (ridable) in Mario Kart. And there's neat new enemies that should make it to the 2D games like Uproot.

I love the Jaxi segments.

How tricky was this to do? I've been thinking about swapping my shells but I'm terrified of breaking the joycons.

Those are from the XLTeam. It's not a shell swap with those. They custom paint a set of joy-cons. You don't send them yours. You're basically buying a new set, plus the cost of the custom paint job.

Here is mine from Colorware, can't buy these any more. XLTeam does still have theirs for sale.

Colorware custom NES Joy-con

I totally agree with you. I would love to see the Lochladies and the Tostarenans as characters in Mario Kart.

Started the game up and when I got to the first 2D side scrolling part I had the biggest smile on my face. Looking forward to playing more of this game.

The game looks better on my TV and even on the Gamepad then I expected (I guess dat YouTube compression).

Just started and the game loses charm out of every book and cranny. Going to be one memorable ride!

First post!
Yeah, just a quick chime-in, this is game is an absolute delight so far. Up to
Seaside Kingdom
, and it's just been firing on all cylinders. Fun to just jump around with Mario, the many little details and animations gives each area its own personality, and the inventiveness with the main mechanic making for plenty of delightful moments. Definitely gonna remember this one for a very long time.

And I want to look up the soundtrack desperately, but fear on stumbling on a spoiler. XD

On my 7th Kingdom now, having a blast so far. I'm purposely leaving worlds unfinished so I can return to them in the future, just how I played 64 and Sunshine.

Lake Kingdom/character spoiler

Has anyone been to the bottom of the water well thing in the main bubble? You need to have the 6 health buff and you still barely make it. It was the first time I came across Captain Toad and when I got to the bottom and heard his music it was one of the best moments of the game for me so far

I think it's by far the best way to play
and it's also great that it justifies my purchases of all the different JoyCon colors.

The only downside is it almost makes me question playing the game on the subway, when that isn't possible. I keep wondering if I should switch(ahem) to Stardew and then back to Mario once I'm home just to better utilize the controls.

The inclusion of photo mode sealed my fate. My boyfriend is going to take forever to play. This is what I get for hogging the Switch for Stardew Valley.
