Just logged into the mynintendo website and you can use generic mynintendo points to get Pocket Camp rewards also. Just got another 5000 bells from some left over points.

0s4hQ1p.png

You get some for logging in every week, and sadly you also got some for logging into miiverse (R.I.P).

Grind it out and you can stock up on bells as well as materials.

Make sure you all check the mynintendo tab in PocketCamp!

what would be nice is to have a system where if you need a certain item, you can see which one of your friends has it in their marketplace. like if you need a few squids and don't want to bother catching them, you have to scroll through your whole friend list to see if anyone has them for sale, AND when you go back it goes to the beginning of the list so you have to remember how far along the list you where. it would be much easier if you could filter your list by friends who have a certain item.
As well as that, a best friend option.

Only played AC on GC before. But dont remember much of it

But I dont really get this "game". I feel like Im waiting for it to kick into gear. Finding and giving the animals stuff doesnt really challange me in any way...Its just a time consuming choir...

( and all the repeating text boxar... zzz)

Upgrading the camper is just a long term "goal" for now. I'm at the 50k upgrade, but I don't know why, haha.

It seems strange you can automatically arrange furniture for a new animal friend and then get an option after to revert to your previous layout.

It makes the option for setting new furniture for this purpose a little redundant.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of that system. It exist to make people pay with leaf tickets to buy crafting spaces and accelerate them.

I am talking about after you bought all that stuff.

Each animal has a check list of items that they want before they would move in. If you meet those requirements you still have to place them in your camp site, it's not good enough to just have them. There's no tickets involved in placing items in your camp site I think.

So you place the items and then the game asks if you want to revert back to your previous layout. Which makes me think that whole step could have been removed.

It's no big deal, it's not a travesty to gaming but as a programmer (Not game related) it seems like a redundant step.

it's for the 7.5-second-long cutscene that shows the animal interacting with their favorite furniture

But instead of, Animal-X wants an Apple -> go to place with Apples -> get Apple without no challange involved -> get back and give it to Animal-X, there could be some "game" to get the Apple. Some challange.

Now, Why even have to go get the Apple to begin with? All it does is take time... to take time.

Why even have to fish and wait for the fish to take the bait When there is No challange involved. No timing or anything. Its just a choir that takes time.

I understand Its a sim. But still... haha.

The game could have done the animations without asking the player, which makes me think that it is there to both let players keep their own camp but also nudge them towards trying new decorations, as in "hey, you like how this setup looks? Want to give it a try, or nah?"

I have been playing this since the Australian launch on and off. Occasionally so I am only level 36. I am at the stage where it's pretty boring but at the same time knowing other people I know are playing it now has pulled me back in a little.

Played for a couple of hours this past few days, but I think I will wait for Animal Crossing Switch to finally go all in.

Isn't that exactly what the Animal Crossing games have always been? You pick apples, plant flowers, sell things... simply to pay off a loan. Expand your home and rinse and repeat until you pay off a larger loan. I don't think anyone has ever accused AC of being "challenging," so I don't think you could reasonably expect its mobile app to present any challenge whatsoever. Of course, I understand your point and the game probably isn't for everyone, but neither is/are the console version(s).

In fact, I've purchased most of the AC console games and have quickly found myself becoming bored because it was too much of a chore to turn on the console, boot it up, etc. Here, I find myself playing this more because it's on my phone (which is always there) and simple to tap open to complete a few requests, complete some crafted furniture then slip it back into my pocket. I can see myself playing this longer than any other AC console title.

Okay, I didn't realize there were My Nintendo rewards. Redeemed them, and now I've paid off a loan... and put myself in more debt. Upon paying off that loan, I will put myself in more debt to expand my camper further. Such is life.

Just reached 36 as well, and I started at Global launch this Tuesday, I think I'm addicted...
Intend to stay F2P so I've been saving all my leaf tickets, almost at 600 now.

I think I'm cooling off the game for now. I've saved up and gotten the 150 leaf ticket modern camper that I wanted. Got my tree swing. I've upgraded my natural tent. Bought that K.K Slider stool. Invited Fauna and Beau. I just have to raise Peanut's friendship level and I think I've gotten everything I wanted.

Whelp, I'm pretty much done with the game. I am level 13 and every day it's just collect a few items laying around, deliver them to characters and level up more. I can't even craft anything new because the requirements are so steep. I just wanted to make a bed or something and it's 60 cotton. 60. I had ten. I earned five more by completing every request in the game (around 15 or so requests). Great. So I either play the game for five days and eventually craft a bed, or I spend 7 tickets.

No thanks. It's neat, and my first day was rather fun, but there doesn't seem to be an actual game here. I look forward to a legit Animal Crossing on the Switch.

So you gave up after putting one hour into the game. Got it.

I'm level 45 with 38 villagers and I'm not bored. You must dislike animal crossing.

Both of you fail to realize this game came out last week. It's barely on 1.01. There will be massive changes starting with all the holiday stuff. You claim to be AC fans but gave up hours into the game when it is a F2P mobile game that requires a lot of playtime. Not only that, but this game is meant for short bursts of gameplay. You claim there's a lack of customization when my campsite and camper are completely unlike anyone else's.

You're gonna hate yourself when AC Switch comes out as it has confirmed functionality with Pocket Camp. We're all going to have pimped out campers with exclusive items I don't doubt you'll be bugging us to trade you. Nope!
Please chill out with the taste policing. Don't tell people how they feel - it's really condescending.

So i just found out that it if you shake a normal tree/palm there's a small chance it drops something. Shaked a palm tree out of spite cause it wasn't giving me bugs and it dropped a bag with 300 bells...

300-1000 bells. One non-fruit bearing tree a day will have it.

Also got a koi and a football fish within like 30 minutes of one another. Almost caught all rare "stuff". Missing the butterfly and I'll be complete for now!

Like most Animal Crossing games, a lot of my misery comes from unaccommodating UI.

Why can't I filter through contacts by level? Type? Affinity? Rewards?

Why can't there be an X on the map next to a contact that wants items I don't have?

Why can't the craft menu have an icon next to an item to say it's currently being crafted to prevent accidental re-selection?

Why can't you see the full market items from a friend unless you visit them?

Why does the friends menu throw you back to the top after checking one profile, losing your place?

Why can't I favorite friends?

Why isn't there an inventory counter during gameplay so that can plan ahead and preemptively clear more space instead of having to deal with "you can't hold anymore of this item".

Why can't reward items I don't have room for be sent to my mailbox until I do, instead of outright losing them?

Lots of little things build up to make much less enjoyable experience than it has to be. It's as if the developers themselves have barely touched the game, since they would otherwise quickly run into these issues from clumsy obstructed UI.

That said, at level 24 I'm still enjoying the (repetitive) gameplay loop. It makes me extremely hungry for a full AC release on the Switch.

It's a mobile game. People are expecting a full fledged Console Animal Crossing for free on mobile. It's ridiculous.

If they can't take it for what it is, and enjoy it, I don't think there's a need for the posts insulting it. It's incredibly deep for what it is, a F2P animal crossing game. People are mad it's not a full fledged console game. On a phone. Stating "MEH I WONT PLAY" PC because it's not a full console game is basically trolling the thread.

On topic, I'm almost 46 and Alfonso is my last villager. He wants so much cotton and wood. I hate him.

Perhaps I'm not understanding what you mean with this one... But if you have everything a contact wants, there is a check mark over that area on the map.
When a contact icon on the map has all requests complete, it shows nothing next to the face (this is different from having all items they wanted when it shows a check). When a contact wants something you don't have, it also shows nothing. There should be an X instead of nothing to show that the camper at this location has an unfulfilled request, instead of appearing the same as s/he would if all requests were completed.

As a result I need to instead tap over every head and check if all requests are fulfilled or I'm missing items.

That's good to know, since The game just started a new day I'll start shaking some trees again.

Speaking of rares. All I'm missing is the football fish, rainbow trout and the emperor butterfly.

Damn olive flounders are the reason I have trust issues

I'm honestly surprised the series went so well in the US honestly. We live our lives so fast and demand to be challenged, but easy at the same time. You'd think a game that requires you to just sit back, relax, and just take your time without a constant feeling of getting things done would never be understood here. I know the Sims is popular among us here, but those games have a fast forward feature to help us.

Even if the real Animal Crossing games are similar-ish in regard to waiting timers, it still feels different when there are actual hours and minutes timers right in your face. Or a buy button a few steps away from the timer. I don't see a big 2 HOURS 40 MINUTES when I walk up to an empty fruit tree in New Leaf.

Also, whether it's a fair criticism or not, the reality is that a lot of Animal Crossing players live by time travelling. You can argue for days whether that's reasonable or not, but it's how a lot of people play so it's no surprise they might be taken aback by this game.

I'm turning my character into a stalker for the bald eagle character. Im wearing the beak accessory, the eagle's zipper tshirt, yellow shoes and matching shorts. All I need is a white hat and yellow stockings, and I will finally be him.

I n e e d to stop wearing these tattered ass jeans.
So you if you are wearing pants, you can't take the off. Buuuut, if you manage to buy a dress, you can equip that, which will de-equip your shirt and pants. Then if you equip a shirt, the dress will be replaced by the shirt, but instead of auto-equipping pants, you will just be wearing the default black shorts instead.

The payoff to this game is getting to decorating your camp, the quests are just time wasters

But as addicting as this game is, it's apparent that it's not a full AC release, and puts my fears of this being the replacement of a proper AC to rest

Soooooooo looking forward to Animal Crossing Switch

It's not, though. It's just a different opinion. If they don't like the game, they probably won't even come back to post much. But we can't have people shutting down differing opinions - that's incredibly toxic for an OT. Live and let live. It's all good.

I'm really enjoying this game a lot and part of that is just being immersed in the Animal Crossing aesthetic in a game that isn't visually compromised by the low res 3ds screens. Is this the best looking AC game yet or was the AC Plaza for WiiU better looking? I think that "game" had better lighting but these smooth character models look just as good as the ones in Amiibo Festival to me. And the music is as relaxing as ever.

On a completely unrelated thought, I wonder if this game is going to be a real money maker for Nintendo ala FE Heroes. I suppose the potential is there but I haven't spent a cent yet and I don't intend to either.

Question: does time of day change what critters and fish are available for netting/fishing?

I want to say no.

But man, last night, after fishing all fucking day, I caught something like 4 red snapper, 3 black bass, a football fish, and a koi. I suspect it's RNG, but I HAVE had my best fishing luck in the evenings so far.

So... how can I grind essences? I need a bunch of cool essences, but I just don't have enough :/

The two things you can do:

  • Wait until the quarry has cool essence in it (the obvious grind)
  • Make sure you only have cool characters in your camp. This way, when you talk to them (every hour), you have a chance (albeit small) at getting a cool essence from them.
