The game is called Smash Bros. Special in Japan, not Ultimate.

Spent the last hour or so (minus breakfast) on this for fun. Couldn't get the color values quite right but I tried my best to manipulate the blank E3 banner to resemble the grinch one as closely as possible. Above are the full character banners for E3, Isabelle and August Direct (from top to bottom).
Feel free to draw your own conclusions... There are some areas I find suspicious. BUT. One thing I noticed while working on this little project is how the waterfalls/trapezoidal structures on the right (particularly the one in the middle) have always been obscured by Dedede. However, this was something the fake banner got right. (ignore the fact that the rightmost one is gone)

(Edit: It is possible, then, that the leaker had access to the blank e3 banner. But take note that 1) No one was able to find it for 24 hours, 2) He would have no reason to work in discrepancies 3) If we admit point 2, that means that the discrepancies are due to artifacts and distortion - which takes us back to square 1

It's still possible that they'll have an announcement next week before the tournament, but I wouldn't bet anything on it.
Lower than Geno and another FF7 rep. Higher than Lara or another FF rep.

In all seriousness, I think it's an inevitability, it has to happen sooner or later (maybe DLC, maybe next game), but DQ has to be the biggest, most glaring omission by now and Smash does tend to favor japanese IPs a lot.

I want to believe in the mural, because honestly, it did a magnificent job at shutting all discussion on that stupid box theory, honestly who in their right mind would think that Sakurai would use fucking Incineroar and Ken as the final character reveals? Dude is a master at generating hype. He knows how to set expections low so that he can blow them out of the water.

My preferred characters will almost certainly be locked, so it's going to entirely depend on how fast I can unlock them.
For real though, Roy Koopa is the best Roy and the best Koopa.
I'll scan in my Puff, Ganon and Ridley amiibo before doing anything.

Aww come on, you won't have a ceremonial first match with just the N64 roster?
But tbh yeah my mains are not on that starting roster aside from Pikachu, so I sincerely hope the Green Mode is something special and fun to unlock characters like I think it is.

I didn't get to bring a lot of my extensive amiibo collection with me when I moved, so I'll be unlocking characters naturally (however that happens). But I know that if I had Villager amiibo with me, it'd be the first scanned haha
