100% all of them in PAL will be eShop-only with maybe a physical 1+0 bundle (0 as DL code) for Japan and 4 separately also only in Japan and maybe the US. But EU will not see any of these on store shelves.

Knowing Crapcom, all of this seems likely and I don't disagree, but there's also been no confirmation of any eShop exclusivity or regional release specifics as far as I've seen. I think the original Capcom tweet is the only thing we have to go on at the moment?

What's the best d-pad solution for the Switch? I've heard the one on the pro controller is not that hot. Are there decent third party solutions or is the pro good enough?

Contemplating trading in dragon quest builders and arms towards Skyrim since we still haven't seen a sale on the latter and it's cut it down to 15$. Just beat the former and had a great time, but I don't see myself ever going back to it with the sequel around the corner and the type of game it is. Arms hasn't seen any play from me in months, and I have other games filling that niche. Thoughts?

Anyone have thoughts on Yoku, I love Metroidvanias but the demo for this didn't do much for me. I'm concerned about the traversal and backtracking becoming tedious.

If I were you I'd definitely wait until the game's one-year anniversary on November 17th to see if there's a promotion, and the Thanksgiving/Christmas eShop sales too. If any kind of discount is still MIA after those, go for your trades since who knows if Bethesda will ever drop the price in 2019 or beyond if they can't even do it within its first year of release. :/

has anyone here managed to beat Enter the Gungeon or Steredenn? I've been loving both, but I've only made it to floor 4 in Gungeon (after 30ish hours?) and I've made it to the end of Steredenn about 5 times, but I've never been able to tackle the mothership. Curious how many people have managed to best either. I'm thinking about picking up some other roguelites, but I'm a little discouraged that I haven't been able to beat the last couple I've bought.

Both are brutal, but Steredenn is far more enjoyable for me. I haven't even gotten to the mothership, so good for you. Still love the game. I recall an AMA with the devs saying the difficulty is too much for a lot of people, so I think you should be proud you got that far.

I have only gotten to the 5th floor a few times in Gungeon. The art is great, but it is my least favorite of the roguelites.

Dead Cells and Isaac are more forgiving than both. Isaac is a blast if you've never played it. Probably the easiest of the big roguelites, but still challenging.

On Enter the Gungeon: I've beaten the Dragun once, but haven't killed any pasts, and I don't think I'll go back to it. It's really well done, but the early game is so damn boring! It's also exceedingly punishing. I'm happy to say I've "beaten" it and move on.

Same here I poured many hours into it and once I beat the Dragun I haven't been back at all and probably won't due to the same reasons you have.

I'll answer my own question, went through the demo again and it completely clicked with me this time. Glad I made the purchase, I think I was in a bad mood last time I played it and I just rushed through it.

Glad I'm not alone! Both Risk of Rain and Crypt of the Necrodancer look cool to me. I'm interested in all of them, but want to take it one step at a time. It's nice to have something to fall back on when I want a break from Wasteland 2.

Crypt I have played a lot, and it's a great game! Very different from either, though. Music is incredible and the perfect execution of a unique roguelike. It is challenging until you get the enemies' patterns down, but after that, it's all about execution and reflexes.

Risk of Rain I bought and beat the 5th time through. Seems really cool, but haven't played it a lot since then. It does have online multiplayer, so I'm looking forward to trying that out eventually.

Crypt at $8 is a steal.

Anyone else thinking of buying Diablo 3 this week? Really want an Action RPG for the switch....80 bucks though (Canada).

I've got it preloaded! I played the heck out of it on PS4, but I've got a couple friends that want to jump into it for the first time on Switch. I'm excited to have a game where I can level and upgrade my character solo (even offline on a plane) and then seamlessly adventure with friends and do whatever they want.

One big choice to make first: in games where it's an option, I almost always choose the Wizard. I love all the different magic powers and effects, but I'm thinking I should try something new this time, I just can't decide which!

Man this thread movies fast on busy weeks!

Please take a look at Luke & Rebecca! It's going to get buried but I am loving it so far. There's a solo mode too if you don't have anyone to play with.

I see that you answered your question but I do want to say the backtracking in the late game becomes quite tedious, especially if you try to 100% the game.

That said, Yoku is easily one of my favorite games in recent memory and the traversal/backtracking is just a small blemish to an otherwise fantastic game.

There seems to be a second, shorter, mini eshop sale on top of the weekly one launched on Thursdays. Nowhere seems to be reporting it and I'm really surprised it hasnt been mentioned on here. I only knew because of the Switch news page. It's being promoted as a 'gaming on the go' sale and runs between 27th October and 1st November.

There a whole of bunch of well-known titles discounted from huge series entries like Street Fighter Collection, RE Revelations 2 and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate to top indie games such as Owlboy, INSIDE, LIMBO, Severed, Axiom Verge, The Gardens Between and Blossom Tales.

I just picked up RIVE at 50% off and Golf Story, which is 33% off but I used my 400ish gold coins to pay less than a fiver.

EDIT: Seems it has been discussed on here and reported on the two websites I checked, Nintendo.co.uk and NintendoLife. I have no idea how I missed this. Maybe my focus has been on Red Dead Redemption 2 too much. Glad I caught it in time and didn't miss out on some bargains.

I can't make up my mind about it. There is so much hype surrounding it, and the idea of a game where you basically grind grind grind is compelling. However, I tried the demo on PC and I'm not feeling it. People say killing demons in this game is very satisfying, but I don't feel it in the demo. I've also watched people playing on Twitch and it looked boring to me... I would give it a fair chance for half the price, but full price... I don't know.

I felt it was really weak personally. That said, there is a lot of thrilling fun in the early hours selecting your character and kitting out new armor pieces you pick up from corpses. Every level earns you new spells or attacks to mix and match too which can be real cool at first. Like real goddamn incredible in a "this game is so gooood!" kind of feel.

Then you kind of settle in around Act 2 or 3. The loot upgrades start to feel unexciting. You kind of find a skill loadout that works and notice a lot of new ones sit untouched or never equipped. The combat lacks any depth or impact either, you follow the same rotation and it gets stale. And boy the story and writing is really embarrassing. By Act 4 and 5, I was ready to quit, the thrill of progression was gone as combat was so rote and mindless that my mind wandered and questioned playing at all. Even on the highest available difficulty(of like 5 or so available on a first play), there is no real challenge. Many more unlock after finishing, but I couldn't be bothered to play more.

But again, the feeling of pushing through Act 1 on a fresh character was fantastic. Just my thoughts.

I'm getting it, digital. It's $60 in the US, which is roughly 80 Canadian dollars.

At the time it was announced I thought I will buy it physical, but between Amazon cancelling the 20% off pre-order discounts + eshop gold coins + the ability to share the game digitally with my daughter (so no need to pass cartridges around and she can play any of my games whenever she wants to, not just when I finish them or before I start them), I now buy all new games digital.

I enjoyed Victor Vran, but now it's time for the real deal. :-)

I want to thank Epilexia for the recommendation! Not for a game mind you, but for a film!

I will definitely be getting Membrane down the line now that I've watched Fantastic Planet! Also will be watching every other animation by René Laloux when I have the time!

I want a point and click, but I've played Thimbleweed (adored it) and put down Goetia a few hours in and will never be able to remember what I was doing.

I fancy Darkside Detective but The Inner World is cheap and so am I. Any thoughts either way?
Might as well try the demo for Earthworms as it's free and quite interesting in my opinion. Haven't played beyond the demo mind you. Also Broken Age is on Switch as well.

Throwing my friend code out there. If anyone wants to add me for some multiplayer hit me up! Smash hype!! 5058-4275-9025

Yes. But that's just their pattern with every release of an old game so far so I see no reason to expect changes.

Been playing octopath since launch and finally almost done with it after about 40 hours...

Just bought undertale (cuz of the hype, know nothing about it) and oxenfree cuz it's 5 bucks so what the hell right?

Which one should I play first (after I beat octopath of course). Hopefully they are both way shorter. Can't be doing these 40 hour games anymore. One game for 4 months ughh... but I'm still enjoying it.

Not even just old games. Mega Man 11 got a proper retail release on PS4 and Xbox but was digital only on Switch in PAL territories.

Can't speak for Oxenfree, but Undertale is definitely way shorter. I have 15 hours on it on Steam and that was for two full playthroughs.

I'd go with oxenfree.
It is different enough from octopath and it's quite short, with a lot of replayability though due to different decision paths. I think I beat it under 5 hours.

Hmm... so they are both 5-10 hours then... got 4 flights coming up in the next 10 days. Could probably beat them both on the longer flights, even if I haven't completely finished up octo which I can jump in and out of on the shorter ones if I'm not done yet.

Thanks Herb Alpert and Subconian Dreamer

No probs~

Every Cacpcopm game I have for Switch so far is am import (BH Rev Collection, Okami JP, MM11 NA, with Onimusha JP on preorder) because they don't know how to EU.

I have the two classic MM and first MMX Legacy Collections from the eShop because I'm happy to have that kind of compilation digitally for when I just want to quickly jump into something (and because the split physical/digital retail releases on Switch was dumb, besides), but my copy of Mega Man 11 is imported from America too yeah 'cause when it's a proper physical retail release of a brand new game on other systems I'd like the same on Switch.

Assuming this is Island Express? The 'metroidvania' part is not that intense and you can unlock quick traversal. I don't know how far the demo goes, but the game really opens up as you become more familiar with movement. I was really shocked at how well it all worked.

Hollow Knight is one of the best games I have played but god I hate that soul system where you can lose your money. These kind of systems are bullshit in every game I have played and it doesn't bring anything good to the table. Only frustration. I'm OK with hard games but this makes things sometimes pretty random. I just lost all my money because I died in pretty impossible place and it was almost impossible to get them back.

I say get Crypt now and RoR later. I've played both and both are great.

I'm a big fan of the 8bitdo controllers. I have a n30 pro that I think works great for switch, after nes online launched I played through Zelda with it and it was excellent. Much better dpad than my xeno pro controller. There's also the sn30 pro with bigger sticks, rumble, and gyro.

In a game without lives or continues losing your currency adds more stakes to tough encounters and scenarios. Call me a masochist but I personally find the potential for heartbreak exhilarating, especially when you succeede in reclaiming your soul from a tight spot.

I will say that losing money stings more in the first half of the game then it does in the back half.

Maybe it's because I really like roguelites and permadeath and I'm used to losing my progress. Hollow Knight's soul system is a slap on the wrist compared to a squad wipe in XCOM.
