Um. Am I missing something? Is wireless charging supposed to be this impractically slow? Ain't nobody got time for this.

Cool.

Apparently you can't completely turn off Wifi in control center now. Says off until tomorrow, but still available for airdrop, etc.

Apparently Control Center never did actually completely turn them off. So dumb.

I stopped using Spark. I forced myself to use it for about a week and I just enjoy the stock Mail app way more. I might keep it for the search though which is way better. Search in Apple's messaging apps is awful. The search bar is basically useless in Messages.
Yeah the search is super useless. Apple messages needs more features. Still can't believe I can't reply to a specific message or highlight a message for later viewing instead scrolling all the way.

That's been the case since iOS 11.0, you can still turn them off completely in settings if you want for whatever reason

Yeah I doubt this will ever happen and that highlights a major problem with iOS. Apple wants it to be accessible as possible and they feel too many options would confuse some people.
That's the reason we have a constant home bar on screen that can't be turned off or not giving us an option to disable swiping to unlock. Someone might accidentally turn these off and not know how to turn them back on.
I really think they should have an option for a pro or regular mode during setup. Let the folks who want more control run pro and those who want stock can run regular.
I think an option like that would attract more android user who like the hardware but not the OS. Eh, never going to happen.

Just updated to 11.2. Probably just the placebo effect, but things seem snappier.

I haven't gotten any app reloads on 11.2 as of yet, it seems to manage ram pretty well. Discord is the biggest surprise for me, it's actually holding on and haven't reloaded

I've been using Apple Pay Cash since the 10.2.4 beta and it's been great. Don't know why it's still not ready for the public.

Two questions:

1) Are people going to leave the beta now or stay in? I'm torn.

2) if I remove the beta profile now, will my phone download 11.2 final release. Right now when I check to update it says it's up to date but I'm on 11.2 beta 6

did you do a hard reboot after the removal of the beta profile?
On my SE I had 11.2 beta 3 or 4, removed the beta profile last week, and when I check it now it will update to the non-beta. Maybe 11.2 beta 6 is too close to the final release though

I have the same charger, and I don't think iPhones send the same Qi signals as Androids do. It's also supposed to stop pulsing and turn the light off at 100% but mine doesn't, and their Amazon page confirms that it won't.

Honestly I'm probably just gonna return it and grab the mophie one from Apple

I'm surprised at how much more I enjoy this than the Plus. It feels so intimate. I tried putting on a case but it was just not the same.
I couldn't even imagine going caseless with my X now I have one fitted, along with a screen protector. I'm always careful with my phones so never used a case or protector in the past, but my X feels a lot more valuable to me than past phones. It might have something to do with the £1K price tag.

Yea I might be more ok going naked because I bought this used on craiglist for $700 and there was already a hairline crack on back when I got it

Apple software quality is quickly becoming a complete joke.

iOS 11 has been out like two months and this is already like the 8th update released, right? And it feels like half of them have been rushed emergency releases to fix dumb shit like the auto-correct bug or your phone crashing on a certain day of the month.

And keep in mind this is after they delayed a bunch of key features like AirPlay 2, Apple Pay Cash, iMessage in the cloud, etc. What the hell is going on at Apple? Jeez.

Well they've certainly had embarrassing bugs before, they've just had an unfortunate big cluster of them. I'm fine with iMessage Cloud being delayed, when you're dealing with people's messages that's something you don't want to fuck up.

The only thing I can think is that they've put some of their top software staff on secret projects. Plus they've been rewriting some of their apps in Swift, and rewrites always introduce bugs. Plus they had a pretty big year in terms of new features.

But let's face it, software is hard, and being stuck to a yearly schedule while delivering innovative software that interacts with each other and also making it bug-free? It's not a very sustainable approach to development. iOS was much simpler in the early days. Big codebases are hard to maintain, let alone innovate on top of.

When Apple is making money hand over fist, not just at all time Apple highs, and not just at at all time company wide highs, but highs throughout the entirety of mankind, yet they can't solve software, who will? Frankly, they can do it. They just need to focus and put their money where their mouth is.

I'm on 11.2 on my X and haven't seen that pull bar all evening in any of the apps I've used.

It only shows up on the lock screen afaik.

I won't defend the bugs, they obviously need to rethink their dev processes, testing regimen, and QA process, but for instance OS X releases were less sloppy when they were delivering releases every two years. But Apple has to compete with Windows and Android on features, yet also deliver a level of quality and stability that lives up to the Apple rep. That's a very high goal, and throwing more people at it only gets you so far.

When playing a HDR/Dolby Vision video, e.g. Netflix, does the phone display a HDR/DV symbol like a lot of 4K HDR TVs do?
Any HDR games yet?
Wish it won't take too long until Google and Apple find a solution regarding Youtube HDR playback. I want my Digital Foundry HDR videos on the go, damn it.

It doesn't display a symbol while playing a video, but it does display 'Dolby Vision' on the programme page before you start watching.
