Next on the rewatch list:
REVENGE OF THE SITH
-- It's kind of fascinating knowing that all that TCW stuff we watched happened in between this movie and AOTC. Ahsoka, Maul, all that crazy shit happened offscreen before this movie
-- Unlike boring-ass TPM and AOTC, at least this movie starts off with a decent action sequence instead of boring people standing around talking
-- "My powers have doubled since the last time we met." Which was like, what, two months ago? During that TCW arc with Sifo-Dyas?
-- Dooku has like no reaction to getting his hands cut off. And Dooku, dude, you should probably start squealing when Palpatine says he's gonna have you killed
-- Maybe Anakin should contact the clones and tell them to stop firing on Grievous' ship when he and the damn chancellor are onboard. What would Palpatine have done if the ship got blown up? Use his Sith powers and escape?
-- Since Grievous doesn't know that Palpatine is Sidious, it'd be pretty awkward if he just decided to execute Palpatine as a show of force
-- I really wish we could get the Battle of Mandalore adapted as a book or something. I'm imagining that Anakin tries to get in touch with Ahsoka to see how things are going, and it ends up being their last conversation (for 20 years)
-- The Anakin/Padme conversation ("So love has blinded you?") makes no sense. Like, their dialogue and responses to each other are not related in any way. It's like they edited three different versions of this scene together
-- Okay, wait, why does Padme say the queen won't let her continue to serve in the Senate if she has a baby? Can you not be a parent and a senator? What about Bail Organa?
-- Anakin and Obi-Wan just meandering around while Ahsoka and Rex are off trying to take out Maul
-- "I need your help, son." Palpatine to Anakin
-- Anakin's anger at the Jedi Council makes a lot more sense with the context of how they screwed over Ahsoka
-- Dumbass Ki-Adi-Mundi apparently thinks Grievous is hiding on a Republic-controlled world
-- Obi-Wan and the Council are aware that Palpatine is up to something, that a Sith is controlling the Senate, and that their clone army was produced from nowhere by a shadowy conspiracy...and they still don't see what's coming
-- I'm confused about the length of time this movie takes place over. How many months has it been since Padme last saw Anakin? She's already eight or nine months pregnant?
-- "Hey why is this kind old man trying to tell me Sith propaganda? Why does he know about Sith legends? Should I tell somebody about this?"
-- Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Snoke the Wise? I thought not. It's not a story Rian Johnson would tell you
-- These helmetless clones standing next to Cody look like they're all played by different actors?
-- Why exactly did the Jedi send only one guy to take out Grievous?
-- Anakin: "Dooku is a defenseless prisoner but he's too dangerous to be kept alive." Also Anakin: "Palpatine is a super-powerful Sith and behind everything, but I'm gonna let him chill in his office while I decide what to do"
-- I A M T H E S E N A T E
-- IT'S TREASON THEN...RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
-- "To cheat death is a power only one has achieved..." Palpatine just admitted he bullshitted about knowing how to save Padme, who's going to give birth in like two hours, and Anakin is still like "Sure, I guess we can find out the secret together"
-- Anakin's turn to the dark side really does happen way too fast. This morning he was all chummy with Obi-Wan and tonight he's like "Eh, I guess all my friends I've known for decades deserve to be murdered"
-- Did Vader ever figure out that Palpatine was running both sides of the war? Did he never question why Palpatine would do that and realize he made all that shit up and completely manipulated him?
-- And now Anakin decides to slaughter a bunch of children because a creepy old man who just admitted to lying about everything claimed he could save his wife from dying
-- I wonder if Luke and Chewie ever discussed Yoda together
-- Padme is such a terrible character in these films. She just stands around crying, she has no agency, she constantly forgives Anakin for his psychotic, genocidal behavior
-- Finally, after thirteen years and three movies of following the orders of some cloaked hologram, Nute Gunray realizes maybe he got played
-- The editing during this climax is so bad. We get the cool Anakin/Obi-Wan fight, the culmination of this trilogy, and then we keep cutting back to a pointless Yoda/Palpatine fight scene
-- How many people ended up dying because Obi-Wan couldn't bring himself to finish the job and kill Anakin?
-- And there's the...[Mike Stoklasa snickering]...newly renamed Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center
-- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-- So does Bail Organa know that Anakin is Vader? He must, right? Why did he keep that a secret from Ahsoka? Did he fear how she would react?
-- And we're finally done with the prequels. Jesus, these movies are even more of a slog than I remembered
