the last jedi has way more porblems that just swerving fan theories
I'm not a star wars fan, all i know about the series i got it through internet osmosis, and i still consider this movie a mess
it's not terrible on first viewing,but has many baffling decisions and A LOT of fat that could have been trimmed given the long running time

Yup. I'm sure 9 is gonna be pretty standard after this. But I'm assuming they gave Rian a side trilogy because they saw he made the best Star Wars but also knew they couldn't keep doing that in the mainline films.
Went back to continuing watching GoT after seeing TLJ. Man, it's not even comparable, these Star Wars movies (TFA/TLJ) are like shitty TV shows in comparison. The acting, the characters, the writing, everything is so much better in GoT.
Also Kate Dickie, who is great in GoT as the crazy queen of the Vale and was also great as the mother in The Witch, has like two lines in TLJ. Why get this actress for that? Hollywood is weird.

Nah their "acting" fits with their characters. Sansa is an idiot who is way over her head and has no idea what she is doing. Daenerys, similarly so, just less dumb. Even the least important characters are written and acted properly. Every line in GoT is thought out and eventually has a pay off, and you can go back and watch the first season and still see how everything ties in perfectly with anything that followed. SW is a joke, full of loose ends to sell side content and toys. just a big commercial.
Hux's first scene in TFA also has a brief cameo from Thomas Brodie Sangster, also from GoT.

It was kind of like how people were mad that the Korra season 1 villain wasn't secretly one of the known characters when his backstory was more interesting.

I'm still bettin they all like it, but Mike is the most lukewarm. Like he'll say he's glad it's not the same thing but he could have used more adventure serial stuff or something.

Rich doesn't like Star Wars in general, so he'll probably be lukewarm on it.

Some of my favorite HitB are for movies I haven't seen, like BvS and Suicide Squad.
I agree, absolutely fantastic, nearly flawless film. There are a couple minor niggles and issues of course, so to be fair I'm giving it a 6/10
