Nice OT, the book I was mostly looking forward to was the 30th anniversary Super Mario one in English. It was announced last year then cancelled. Whatever happened to it? Hope there will still be one coming.

I have a small collection including some rare ones like the Limited Edition Hyrule Historia and Resident Evil Archive Vol 1. I'll post a pic later of my small collection.

If square would follow FF XIV example in everything actually... Its like the FF XIV team is the only competent team not bothered by white collar upper management these days

I think they gave Yoshi-P this freedom due to how FFXIV:ARR performed. I recall he spoke with upper managment once, to allow the players to stream the game online.

On topic: not sure if this is posted but it seems there will be a 25th Anniversary Mana Art book.
Will be released on Feb 15th,2018
Not sure if it deserves its own thread.

I got the P5 art book as an early Xmas gift from a friend and I really like it! It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be and I like the commentary and stuff in it :o

I do think the dust cover is kind of an odd choice, since it's a soft cover book, but at least the cover's less likely to get beat up :)

And yesterday, in another Secret Santa package, I've got this!
This book looks so old, the complete style and how this book is made, wow, never knew this exist.
It's from 2002 and has 30 pages of World of Warcraft artworks in it while that game was still in development at that time. Very interesting!

A week ago I had no idea these books even existed. But I'm glad to have the set. Destiny Volume 2 is pretty cool too.

one thing for certain with the new Star Wars films is that they have absolutely stunning visual aesthetics. Rewatching Rogue One, it really is visually impressive from costume design to environmental set pieces to tech aesthetics.

Got the Art of Shin Megami Tensei IV for Christmas. Really liked what I've seen so far. Lots of artist commentary on locations and characters. And a section at the back dedicated to the new demons and redrawn demons.

The Art of Dishonored 2: Limited Edition got home on time for Christmas. And wow, the book is amazing. The slipcase is really thick yet soft. The book itself feels very well put together, paper is high quality. As for the content itself there's tons of drawings and a few sketches, each chapter comes with a short introduction. On top of all that it comes with a nice lithograph. Highly recommended, I do believe it's worth paying the shipping overseas, and if you live in the US all this for only 30 bucks is a no-brainer.

Here's a pic of the slipcase, I'll leave a link to the album with more pics below:

I finally had time to dig into some artbooks I got in the past few months. Picked up the Xenoblade Monado Archives and the Xenoblade X Art of Mira books a while back, and finally got the English Eorzea Encyclopedia. Very happy with most of them. The Xenoblade artbook is kinda disappointing though, since it has a lot of boring filler pages recapping story stuff from the game with screenshots and whatnot, instead of more artwork. Would have liked to see more of the design process and credit to the artists. On the other hand, the Xenoblade X artbook is INSANELY detailed, packed with pre-production art, variants, and unused concepts. Lots of credit to the freelance artists involved, really nice stuff. It also looks like they had a bunch of production art for a TOTALLY different story than what ended up shipping... lol. The Eorzea book is great but I haven't had much time to read it yet. Feels solid though. I <3 hardcovers.

Had a good day at Half Price Books, got the Art of Wonderwoman and a book called "Visions" with a ton of awesome high quality fan art for Star Wars for $14 each, also an Art of Castlevania: Lord of Shadows book for like $11.

Saw a copy of Art of Final Fantasy IX for around $33, but I just couldnt justify that much for so little content, especially when the new compilation books are out/coming out soon in english. If it had more concept sketches or Amano's style stuff I would have jumped on it, but I'm just not that much of a fan of 7-9's ingame character art style.

You're in luck, I think the Star Wars: Visions book has an Amano piece in it. This one to be specific.

Oh well fucking sweet then. I think I glanced and saw that page in the store, but I didn't realize it was Amano's, now I'm super glad I brought it.

My stores never seem to have much good on the gaming side (Or they are stupid overpriced), but I have been having a lot of look with Film/T.V series related books, Comic's/Manga, and Graphic Design/Illustration books lately.

Love my two art books to bits. Such high quality art and the Japanese P5 art book has more pages than English.

Persona 4 design works shipped! After more than 6 months in limbo!

Praise Udon for reprints!

I'm in japan now, I'm going crazy on books. I just been to denden town the Akina of Osaka and spend hours in the shops. I saw the xenogear prefect works book for 6.000yens and it seemed like an incredible price but I swore to not buy books for games I didn't played no matter how old and rare the book is.

I also found Carmine, Sadamoto design works. Book is incredible but... It comes with a huge cardboard box with CD and posters... It was too big and heavy... I passed... Maybe I can find the book alone?

I have to go to akiba next week. Still need to find dragon's crown artbook!

From Europe to Europe. I never cancelled it. Received monthly mail saying they were still looking for it lol I was waiting for that announced reprint. It should deliver January 3rd but I'm not back until the 10th lol

Mine got auto cancelled after like the 2nd delay, but I see a lot of 3rd party sellers in the U.S are selling it for like $30-$40, as well as Ebay.

My wife bought me The Sky for christmas and WOW, that is one (well, three) beautiful artbook. There's practically no text, just pictures.

Only downside is that it's freaking huge and won't fit in my bookshelf.

You know the thing that surprised me the most about that book was that there was any kind of nudity in an officially licensed Star Wars product. It was only a little Twi'lek nipple, granted, but it was the first time I'd seen them let something like that slide.

Finally came yesterday.

The art work for the class items are criminally better than what we got in game, especially the Warlock bonds. Come on Bungie. Put that shit in the game.

I'm seeing a lot of the Zelda Breath of the Wild Master Works here in Japan :

(not my pic)

I'm not a Zelda fan and and I don't know the quality of the content but godamn, you should see this cover in all its ivory white and shiny blue glory. All recent Zelda books have been fan favorite it seems, I hope the localization of this one keeps the phenomenal looking cover.

Um, what? How many pages is it?

It's 100 pages plus this foldout poster. Storyboards and sketches. I scored it on ebay for $7.50. All in Japanese but that doesn't matter to me.

Looking forward to the release of that in the US. But we still haven't gotten the Hyrule Encyclopedia yet.

Pro tip if you are artbook hunting in Tokyo : Forget Akiba. It's crowded its full of tourists and there isn't much oldies, only moe and anime stuff.

You want to step up your game ? Try Nakano Broadway. The mandarake shops are amazing and they will ring their sub shops to find your stuff in the mall. I even could talk with severals vendors with basic english and laugh a bit. No tourists, less crowded, much MUCH better selection of oldies selection (of everything, from toys to original celluloids, games, even metal advertising plates...) it's an incredible place to wander around, like a trip in the past up the the 70's of Japanese hobby culture.

The Persona 4: Arena artbook is down to $18 at a few places. Got it before it went OOP.

Speaking of, anyone know if Udon cancelled/put on hiatus the Persona Q artbook?

Stop rubbing this into our faces. I was made aware of this book only years after do you know how much it is worth now I'm so jealous.

Jokes aside, I heard it's an essential book for any game and level designer wannabe
