Holy moly
it actually runs SoTC at fullspeed. At the original PS2 res, mind you, but still, that's impressive.

I just used the Win 1 to play some Nier streamed from my desktop and I'm incredibly impressed with Steam in home streaming and how great they work together. Surprisingly low latency, and top to bottom good experience.

WOW! SMG 2 is near perfect on this thing. Maybe Mario Strikers on the go is doable now!

Mario Strikers already plays pretty well on the GPD Win 1, but it should be perfect on the Win 2.

Looking at the Melee video, that's a game that has struggles but it's perfect here.

Wow. God of War 2 runs respectably, too. Very impressed that it's handling PS2 this well.

Seriously tempted to sell my Win 1 and get one of these.

Tekken 7!

Much appreciated Phawx, but could you try a few things?

-Can the resolution be lowered down further?
-Can the resolution scaling be turned down further to get better FPS?
-Can you enable dynamic resolution? That can help performance a lot.

Still very impressive and I think with some tweaking it can hit 60 FPS constantly no problem. Hope this means SFV can do it too! Definitely buying one of these now.

Yea the resolution can go down further. Just need to go to the gameuserdata in %appdata% and change the value and set it to read-only mode afterwards.

Also for people that don't follow Reddit. I've been able to successfully get 7Y30 to reach near peak performance. You only need to go into the bios and enable XTU. From there you can download Intel's XTU program and control voltage, TDP and window times.

For reference: here is Heaven on stock:

Mz16PoP.jpg

Here is undervolt+8watts

and here is undervolt+10 watts:

The impressive bit is when looking at Minimum frame rate between stock and near full power 7Y30.

I've been doing a LOT of testing at higher wattages (like 12 watt) And while it does operate, I've learned through and Intel contact that there is actually an 11 watt threshold via a voltage regulator. The machine will power down automatically once this voltage trips.

So realistically, 9.5 watt is the upper-end people should be running their GPD Win 2 at. And of course, you also have the option of setting wattage to 3.5w via XTU if you want maximum battery life.

Hot damn. I legitimately didn't expect this to be able to handle PS2 titles so smoothly due to some of the roadblocks with emulation on that front. Guess I'll be shelling out however much it takes to get me one of these.

Quick question for those of you with the original GPD Win.

Has anybody personally tried .hack GU HD on it? I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles the last few days (runs great!) and was wondering how that game'd fair.

I haven't tried it myself, but i remember reddit saying it worked well.
It works on my old macbook so it should be fine, also Star Ocean 4 should work pretty well if you mess with the settings, the ports not really demanding, but those games are 40gb +

So as I mentioned before I am a official distributor of Sunda batteries and have started selling replacement Win batteries on ebay to people in the US who need them.
Well since GPD won't disclose sales of the Win I simply contacted Sunda with an excuse about how I'm trying to figure out how many people have had battery failures and asked them how many batteries they have sold to GPD.
They told me around 100K batteries so far.
Now Chinese companies do like inflating sales numbers for some reason but I don't really see any reason for Sunda to lie to me.

Either way take it with a grain of salt but if Sunda's numbers are to be believed we can guess GPD has sold 90K-100K Wins since it went on sale a little over a year ago.

Also I'm now a official distributor for GPD in the US.
Not really planning on selling any of their devices but I'll be looking to acquire an inventory of spare parts to sell since many people's warranties are up and ordering spare parts from GPD takes forever to get them.

Half speed. He has the fourth "aggressive" speed hack enabled which under clocks the CPU and more importantly turns on VU cycle stealing. This is effectively a frame skip option when used with SOTC so even if the emulator reports 60fps its actually rendering half that or less depending on the load.

Would be nice to see if some of the lesser CPU intensive games such as Final Fantasy XII can run full speed with only the not so intrusive "recommended" speed hacks.

And the stable 1.4 version of PCSX2 is very outdated now, everyone should be using a 1.5 dev build. https://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

I dunno for sure but if I'm reading what GPD's Chinese rep is saying right it looks like they might be offering options with various amounts of storage.
It says official say though which I'm not sure if thats a quirk of machine translation or if its implying they'll offer machines with higher storage once the crowdfunding ends and they start officially selling the device.

Would LOVE to see how this things handles Street Fighter 5 and Guilty Gear Xrd. I'm getting a bit tired of waiting for modern fighters on the Switch and this might make me jump on the GPD Win2.

Hey peeps, more annoying questions. Has anyone in here tried out Tokyo Xanadu EX+ on the GPD Win? I know the thing runs the Cold Steel games fine, and Xanadu was built on a modified ver of the same engine.

I don't wanna drop the cash until I know for sure, though.

I get around 25 FPS on the GPD Win at 720p. Do note that there's practically no video options besides resolution and fullscreen/window/borderless.

I made an updated video at preset 3. I got worse performance on latest 1.5, so I continued to use 1.4. Having said that, Framerate does go down to 47~FPS but ticks back up to 60. I also showed the PAL version which goes down to 45FPS, but that's a difference between 10% and 20%, so running the PAL version is recommended.

Nah, unfortunately that isn't legit at all. All the tests that have been done so far by Phawx on the Win 2 and others who have similar hardware have only managed around 10fps, even with the latest version of Cemu. It's just a clickbait video. The only way anyone is getting decent performanc for BoTW on handheld hardware right now is using a Switch.

Steam inhome streaming/Moonlight. :)

Well my statement was referring to native hardware performance rather than streaming solutions but yeah, technically you can have BoTW run on nearly any handheld device if you have a stable network connection :). But I concede I probably should have made my point clearer ;)

Great work on the keyboard video Phawx! If you're looking for suggestions on future game tests, I think it would be interesting to see how mouse and keyboard games work. Older games like Deus Ex and FEAR that didn't have gamepad support. Are these playable at all on this?

lyte edge that is extremely fucking impressive. So i take it Battlefront 1 will work fine there too (and possibly 2)?
Even better than i thought, 720p 45ish frames. Lock it to 30 and it will run as butter.

Amazing, a handheld in 3DS form factor running current-gen titles at 720p30. This thing oozes potential.

Normally I use Antimicro for these set ups. But I'm sure there are steam configs already created for 360pads.

Why not just use steams controller API configurator, since it supports generic xinput devices now as well.
Mind testing out if the configurator works on this?

Edit: nvm :P

I doubt you would have the time but I am hyper curious about playing Destiny 2 in a hand held format without streaming from a home network source.

Me too - Im sure its too much for it but very curious.

I like this as it will let me get the 'switch factor' with my PC and be my all in one emulator superbox. Question - how comfortable is it in long play sessions? MY hand cramps playing doom on my switch after about an hour...

Wade actually saw an invite link on Reddit and popped up on discord and there was a sort of impromptu Q&A over there.

A summary of what was said, keep in mind he was using chrome to translate what people were saying and replying in Chinese and I'm using google to translate that so there may be misunderstandings and details lost in places:

He cannot promise anything but instead of using 2x 5000mah batteries they are looking to see if they can find a supplier of 5400mah batteries.
He seemed to have implied they had some battery issues with the ones they've used so far but I'm not positive on that part.
Already been mentioned before but heat transferred to the battery from the motherboard is almost nonexistent this time around which should eliminate the issues people had with batteries.

He averaged 3 hours of battery life gaming but got 5 hours for some games (didn't specify).

At max when pushing the system to the limit the entire device will be consuming a total 18 watts.

They are sticking to 128gb of storage because the sd card reader in the Win2 will be much faster and more suitable for storing games on along with using usb drives, 256gb 2242 drives are more expensive, some drives with higher capacity have reliability issues & this device occupies a niche market and sales will not huge so they don't see the need to offer such an option.
Also seems to imply they don't want to offer multiple storage options because that increases difficulty of dealing with inventory for such a small market.

Seems to imply the usb port can put out a lot more power to run things like external ssd's compared to the Win.

Still $599 for crowdfunding.

Compared price to that of a Xiaomi laptop with 4gb of ram and an 256gb ssd and he believes the price to be reasonable for what the device is.

Says 8gb of ram is the max (not sure if simply max of what GPD is offering or if there is no lpddr3 chips of the right type that offer higher capacity on the market).

Mentions different colors (not sure if referring to just the plastic lid or more) but again says offering many different options puts a strain on manufacturing and managing inventory.
Wade's of the opinion the current color scheme looks better in person than through pictures.

They tried a keyboard backlight but they gave up because they were unable to get even distribution of light across the entire keyboard.
Phones with keyboards use led lighting along the side for illumination but the Win2's keyboard is too wide for that and there's not enough space to do the type of backlighting thats found in normal sized keyboards.

Wade ran Witcher 3 with all settings at default at 15 fps.

IGG backers will be the second batch of devices.
The first will go to backers of the JD campaign who are effectively beta testers.
The second batch will have better quality control.
Second batch to IGG backers will be completed in April & shipped to backers in May.

Wade does not see the point in easily removed batteries to swap on the go as he feels it is currently easy enough to remove currently to replace if needed & USB-PD charging makes swapping batteries unneeded.
I think that was pretty much everything that was said in that impromptu Q&A.

This probably doesn't need to be said but if you're on the discord server please don't go bugging Wade with PM's about stuff like getting prototypes to test or anything else.
I'd rather not drive him away from there.

I just finished configuring my GPD XD. I know it's the oldest and least powerful but it's really all I need and I really, really like it. the buttons being kind of mushy annoyed me at first but I got used to it pretty quickly

I really just wanted it for GBA and SNES games, but I've managed to get PS1 and Dreamcast games running pretty well so it's exceeded my expectations

I'll upgrade *eventually* to something that can run Dolphin but for now this is perfect

Man, the GPD Win 2 news keeps sounding better and better. I'm happy to watch from afar since I won't join the club this time but it's an excellent and impressive piece of hardware.
