I have not beaten any VR mission.

I've beaten, like, 20 or so. I need to play them all someday, they're fun, especially in 2. Plus the non-canon fanfic campaign.

I also like how VR missions + 2 kind of hint at MGS1 not being fully canon, and being Raiden playing as Snake.

For the trilogy discussion, my main thing is MGS3 is a really good action movie type throwback game with everything the fans would want...but it's just that. Not much beyond the surface. And that's not a bad thing, it's great at what it is. But MGS2 is this commentary on the culture of gaming and society, and Kojima really Kojimaing it up with a message that I think works best for the media it's in and maybe can only be told how it was in gaming, so that puts it above 3 for me.

MGS2 sucks, indoor environments, Raiden and just a bunch of rehashed story elements from MGS1 cleverly put into the game. MGS3 had the outdoor jungle, more stealth options, big boss and was a prequel to the whole saga. The story of that game is the best in the entire series.

I'd probably still go with MGS3 as the best, but I feel like replaying MGS2 these days more and more over other MGS games.

God, the blocked scene stuff when streaming on PS4 is so dumb. I just had like 5 minutes of blue screen when streaming some MGS5.

I just rebought MGS1 for the PS1 to replay this masterpiece! I would easily say it is the best game on the system and can't think of anything that beats it when it comes to storytelling and gameplay. Not even Resident Evil 2 or Tenchu 1.

It's amazing how much nostalgia the opening Konami splash screen for MGS1 can cause.

Over the festive period the guys over on Playstation Access done a playthrough of Metal Gear Solid. For those who don't know about the channel, Rob is a huge MGS fan and talks about the games a lot but Nathan and Dave have never played the game before and don't understand his love of the series. It was interesting to see how the guys tackled the game and while I found the whole thing to be pretty funny, I also found it frustrating at the same time. Nathan just seems to be terrible at the game and Rob does get pretty annoyed with both of them throughout the whole series as they constantly fail at some of the simplest of tasks.

Here's the first of ten parts for those interested in giving it a watch.

its always frustrating watching someone play a game they have never played before. I usually stay away from those, it makes me too mad.

I want to play Peace Walker with a friend on either PS3 or 360, but we don't have online for either console. Is it possible to link them up locally to play in coop?

lol in MGS3 the tranquilizer is even more overpowered than in MGS2. You can headshot guards from a mile away which is easy with MGS3's big oopen environments. And when you peak around corners in MGS3, the guards don't register you as being there so it makes indoor environments in MGS3 easy to navigate as well.

MGS2 extreme makes MGS3 extreme look like a joke, which it is difficulty-wise. MGS2 has some of the best gameplay design for sure. I will give MGS3 the best boss fights in the series and some levels that are fun to explore, but compared to MGS2 naw MGS2 comes out on top.

MGS2 has some great ending revelations, probably the craziest the entire medium has to offer. But like...Big Shell is a boring, bland location for the game. The boss battles aren't as good as 1 or 3, you have the bomb disposal mission which is just a chore on replays, you have the escort mission with Emma. There's just a lot to not like about MGS2's game design. It might be better technically than MGS1, but MGS1 is still more fun to play. And MGS3 is just a complete triumph over MGS2 overall. Don't get me wrong, MGS2 is still amazing, but I mostly replay 2 for the story over everything else.

See I don't agree with this. Watching the AGDQ runs made me realize again how much MGS2 has a slick, fluid presentation. The game has incredibly responsive controls compared to the sluggish ones of MGS3, you could do 3 actions in the time it takes you to make one in 3. Every move was made for you to go fast, every animation was fast, the game was a rock solid 60 FPS. Every MGS2 area was tailored as an arcade style challenge that you could play around with, no expansive areas that were more tailored for the story than they were for the gameplay. It was snappy, it was fun. And even if the boss battles weren't to the level of The End, they would trample over every other boss of the game with relative ease.

When I think about what MGS I would want to replay, my mind goes to MGS2 immediately. There's no downtime in that game, even the less interesting missions like escorting Emma is infinitely more fun than escorting EVA.

I honestly found the MK22 less "cheesey" than the M9. Bullet/dart impacts on scenery merely confused enemies in MGS2, while in MGS3 it triggered Caution Mode.

Not to mention the suppressor on the MK22 could break.

Suppressor mechanic was really cool yea. But overall the mk22 is more powerful. Consider that:

- you can rapidly shoot fast at bosses by quickly unequiping and reequiping the mk22. The m9 needs to have the slide pulled every shot and has a much, much slower rate of fire even if you tactically reload it.

- you can use the mgs3 binoculars to place your mk22 shot perfectly.

- the mk22 is a good weapon against almost every mgs3 boss. The m9 is only good against Olga. In every other mgs2 boss, using the m9 is an intentional handicap.

- the mk22 is an instant knockout during the bike chase segment, making it a very practical gun along with the stun grenades

Has anyone had experience transfarring their MGS3 HD saves from PS3 to Vita? I was able to transfer my saves and was going to finish my platinum on vita, but some of the trophies I got on PS3 didn't transfer most importantly the "get all kerotans" trophy for MGS3 because I really don't want to do that again especially on a smaller screen (fuck that last kerotan).

Is there anyway to fix this or do I just have to except I'm not getting the platinum?

who do you think is the supreme genius when it comes to "metal gears" or powerful super weapons....

Aleksandr Leonovitch Granin- the creator of the concept of the "Metal Gear" a powerful biopedal tank capable of nuclear launch..

Granin was an engineering genius.. he also made many other contributions to the Soviet Union

Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov another Russian genius.... creator of the Shagahod

Sokolov, using Granin's designs also worked ont he IBMG (Intercontinental Ballistic Metal Gear) sort of the first attempt to make a true"Metal Gear" he designed RAXA the prototype for the IBMG

Dr. "Huey" Emmerich - Father of Otacon, and mastermind of the "Peace Walker Project" even though they were not true "Metal Gears" they were fantastic engineering and designing feats... He worked on the PW project with Strangelove

Pupa
Chrysalis
Cocoon
and Peace Walker aka Basilisk
all part of the Peace Walker Project

he also, along with Strangelove created Metal Gear ZEKE, with parts from all 4 Peace Walker weapons...

Drago Pettrovich Madnar- a Russian scientist... created 2 metal gears....

TX-55 Metal Gear
Metal Gear D

Hal Emmerich AKA Otacon, Creator/Chief Engineer of Metal Gear Rex

Ray was created by the USMC, and there is no definite cheif designer, or creator mentioned

Arsenal Gear- Navy no cheif designer, creator mentioned

Gekko- no definite creator, designer

who in your opinion out of all these guys is the

Master of the Metal Gear

Hi Metal Gear community

Quick question

I'm playing the OG MSG on my Vita at work while on my lunch breaks

However, it just struck me

How can I beat Mantis without switching the controller over?

Is this even possible? If so, how?

Hold the PS button and you'll get a menu regarding screen, memory card, and controller mapping. There's an option to change over the controller port.

So I'm going to start playing Phantom Pain for the first time this week. What platform do you recommend - PC or PS4 Pro (I don't know if it's Pro patched tbh)?

I had the option of picking either or as well but at the time I went with the system my friends were on (ps4) for defending friend's FOBs and mgo3. It runs a pretty smooth 60 frames on the ps4 and i'm guessing probably less hackers on PS as well.
