Top 5 Final Bosses
  1. Doomsday Zone
  2. Perfect Chaos
  3. Nonaggression
  4. Final Hazard
  5. Exception
Bottom 5 Final Bosses
  1. Time Eater (holy fucking shit it's awful)
  2. Moon Zone (let's remake Doomsday Zone but boring)
  3. Devil Doom
  4. Solaris (music/atmosphere is nice though)
  5. Metal Overlord
Honorable Mentions
  • Emerl
  • Dark Queen
  • True Area 53

Mine is probably:

Best
- Doomsday Zone
- Nonaggression
- Nega Egg Wisp
- Time Eater 3DS
- Death Egg Robot (Sonic 2)

Worst
- Time Eater HD
- Moon Zone
- Metal Overlord
- Chaotic Space
- whatever the fuck Sonic Blast's true final boss is supposed to be

I dunno, I've always found Solaris to be pretty inoffensive from a mechanical standpoint. I'm not really a fan of most Super Sonic boss fights though, since they tend to be pretty braindead affairs more often than not. True Area 53 is alright, though. Probably the best Doomsday knockoff.

Solaris was mostly fine for Sonic's part. However, I found that Shadow's Chaos Spears were clunky to fire, and it wasn't clear what part of Solaris to aim for. Silver's Psycho Shield was clunky as shit too.

Best
  • Doomsday Zone
  • Final Hazard
  • Exception (Sonic Rush right?)
  • Uuuhhh
Worst
  • Time Eater
  • Solaris
  • Idk
Most of them are just ok. I liked Egg Nega Wisp a lot until they used it there more times

So is Sonic Mania on sale on the eShop? Not that $20+tax is a big deal, but still, I'm curious.

Sonic Adventure was a good game that has aged poorly by today's standards.

It's now a clunky mess that you just can't help but admit that you enjoy!

Sonic adventure is a diamond in the rough that did a lot of rad shit sonic team never tried again and it's quality is a lot more complicated than "it was good but now it's bad"

Sonic adventure 2 was hot garbage the day it came out and still sux

Sonic Adventure has the serene Mystic Ruins adventure field music AND Big the Cat, so who's to say it isnt the greatest video game ever made???

I would actually play a full timer based, arcade style game with E-102's mechanics if it existed.

Not from Sonic Team, tho

At one point, I thought about making a Sonic game and entering it during those yearly Sonic community contests. I even bought GameMaker to mess around with engines. Never got around to starting it.

You could team up with one of us. I have a concept for a lucas-arts style adventure game as a retelling of the Iron Queen arc, starring Monkey Kahn, Sonic, and Sally.

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately I've become busy with other projects which is why I never got started on that Sonic thing. :(

I mainly wanted to mess around with 2D Sonic and see if I could make levels as good as Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Maybe someday...

Can't wait to see what you and your team come up with. Monkey Kahn, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Turned on my 360 for the first time in over a year and played a little Unleashed today. I had forgotten how annoying the controls in the hubs are, lol.

Tbh I've been getting more and more interested in learning the basics of Unity so that I could get involved in a 3D fangame project I'm interested in and have something to offer the team. It's really fucking hard though and one thing at a time, lol... but honestly I would love nothing more than to be able to just recreate SA1 with all of the original assets, but in Unity so that all the kinks are ironed out. Huge and probably impossible project tho.

I'm in for Sami's tome when it drops.
The legacy of Sonic Redacted Era going far too in depth with Sonic must continue

hub worlds are awesome and I miss them and I think SA2 taking them out is one of the ten million reasons that game sucks

but

I really don't get why devs can't just have an arcade mode or something available from the start for people who want that

^Preach. Hub worlds are fine for a story mode as long as there's also an arcade-style mode like Trial from Adventure.

hub worlds are fine as long as they give you a compelling thing to do and not just to pad the time between levels with tedium

I'm in two minds about it. On one hand, more quality content is always great and should be strived for either way, but on the other hub worlds are the best way to ground a setting and form a more cohesive setting. I think Mario 64 is an astronomically stronger game because of Peach's Castle than it would've been if it'd had a Mario World style level map (I also hate those from the depths of my soul but I digress), even though there isn't technically much to explicitly do in the castle itself. Adventure Fields could have been better but I like what we got more a lot more than nothing at all.

Bro if I could remake SA1 from the ground up the first bullet point on the board would be making those hub worlds like five times bigger and more dense with stuff. I always thought it was kinda funny how the Egg Carrier went from this hulking, enormous masterpiece of a vessel in Sky Deck to like a cute, small lil hub world in between scenes. Or Speed Highway and Station Square looking absolutely nothing alike... especially weird when SS could've just been like the "At Dawn" but bigger.

Imagine... the next generation could get lost in the Mystic Ruins just like we did... I M A G I N E

I dreamed about Sonic being able to run on the train tracks trough the tunnel and back to Station Square as a secret path when I was younger.

That would've been cool.
