I think training mode would be alright to stream if it were two people sparring and bantering. That way viewers get to learn about two characters and their matchup with much less fumbling around with the record function.

You could do a whole YouTube/twitch series on it. Bringing in pro's for various games and just playing training mode, and talking shit and being entertaining focusing on a character or two.

So I am sure I am not alone on this but I wonder if fighting games (besides not commonly being f2p) are perhaps held back by watching a streamer constantly spend hours in a lab? I realize this can help me learn new tech. But it's just not as exciting as watching a pro from a League of Legends team (example) fight in an actual match

I wonder if somehow fighting games can be more streamlined somehow to where you learn everything you need as you play the game? Maybe I am knocking at the wrong door here but it seems more interesting for me to watch someone in a real match. Especially for a fighting game I don't own or play seriously.

I am sort of posting this from point of view of a spectator. Was just going to tune into a guy with 7 viewers that was just screwing around in a lab and I'm like nope I can do this myself
I think it depends. I think watching someone in the lab could be interesting and I'd watch something like that. If I'm at work I can't play myself, so if I want to learn vicariously I can watch someone else in the training room or whatever.

That's actually a really good idea.

As an aside, I think Versus Training is underutilized.
I agree this is a good idea. I might just start doing something like this.

opinions on the crown 309 and korean sticks in general?

i play a lot of tekken, and i want to play SCVI but i am also starting to play arcsys games and i cam very hype for DBFZ, so i have fear the crown is not good for 2D fighting games specially anime games.

despite my avatar i don't like SFV, if capcom makes a good fighting game i am open to play it, but every time i try SFV i remenber why i don't play that game and instead i start tekken or guilty gear.

also, anyone knows if mad catz would make arcade sticks again? yes they are coming back! but their website don't say anything about arcade sticks, their video shows call of duty and FGC photage, but nothing more about arcade sticks, fightpads or gamepads.

I've been playing around with the new Arcana Heart. Wow. It is ridiculously complex. It seems like every character has their own specific movement mechanics, nevermind everything involving boost.

Shaowebb: You wouldn't happen to have a tutorial guide on hand would you?

That would be more interesting for most people to see and they would actually learn things. I like that idea.

If they're not making sticks they might as well not come back at all.

I oculd see them concentrating on what really made them money and is easiest to manufacture at first. They said they hope to retyurn to console stuff (I presumed sticks and not crappy pads).

I mean, for a fighting game that you can mostly learn as you play, I think Fantasy Strike does fit the bill, and in general all the stands I've seen of it have been pretty fun and engaging.

I gots an OT thread with all the core mechanics mapped out, links to the AH3 wikia character guides, and quick reference cards for all the arcana minus Ichor the Arcana of Blood (which is described like 4 posts in)

https://www.resetera.com/threads/ar...shes-over-20-infinity-stones-er-arcana.10972/

The info I referenced is from the wiki mizuumi guides that've been worked on by far more experienced than myself over the years and its what helped me to understand and realize just how much was in this game. The discord group link will lead you to steady matches and more technical help when needed. All of this should be plenty to clear up anything your trying to figure out :)

Ah right!

I completely forgot about the OT.
Thanks much.

Momochi and Choco just as an example are teaching and giving free resources to students and strangers alike while Gootecks tries to get every single penny he can from anything.

Gootecks reminds me of that one guy at my local who is always following crypto currency exchange rates trying to get in on the next big scheme.

Remember the time he tried to rally the FGC against the PogChamp emoji? LMAO!

Momochi and Choco just as an example are teaching and giving free resources to students and strangers alike while Gootecks tries to get every single penny he can from anything.

Thing is, I like his show...but the other stuff is just....yeah. And when he showed up at Eleague in that getup...

I miss Mike Ross.

Easier to do that when you have that Echo Fox monies, but, yeah that's who Gootecks is. A lot of the old school American FGC guys are basically hustlers. When this scene was relegated to the dark arcades, the game was a hustle!

"Hustle" implies some sort of dirtiness to it.

There's nothing inherently immoral about anything he has done for money. Why should he NOT want to turn his time and experience in fighting games into a business?

This time, instead of the competition or myself, my battle is with Capcom. Infinite isn't that fun. It isn't strategically deep. It isn't very conducive to my playstyle, and most teams are stale already [...] Fighting games are my life, and bad design is never going to ruin that.

Good to see some good players speak about the state of the game.

Remember when they pretty much banned Gootecks from Twitch for doing music streams and like 2 years later they are doing concerts and stuff like that?
I wonder how he is doing, CC numbers have gone way down.

Hey yall, just letting you know that the Touhou fighting game Touhou 15.5 Antinomy of Common Flowers has released on steam.
$24.99
There is no difference between this and the pc version released before.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/716710/_Antinomy_of_Common_Flowers/

These are very unique fighting games with a lot of projectiles . In this one you choose two characters and switch between them in the middle of battle tag style which fits because the incident thats occurring this time is one regarding perfect possession of someone both in body and soul. Probably not all the tag teams are willing partners due to this and it explains why all the translated guides refer to the tag mechanics as masters and their slaves. From the official site it looks like there are 18 playable characters.

As always I believe this game uses the bullet grind mechanic where so long as you are dashing or moving you cannot be hurt by projectiles. I am not an expert by any means at these games but they are very unique in that they allow for a lot of danmaku style bullethell patterns due to their grind mechanics. This one in particular also lets you use flight so it reminds me of a Senko no Ronde experience with 2d fighting game combo elements mixed in.

This game IS NOT IN ENGLISH on steam.
***Im trying to see if the fan community has an english patch for this yet. No luck so far but its generally only a matter of time before things appear on Gensokyo.org or the Touhou wiki community boards. They are very dedicated to this series.***

Also an update on the Earth Romancer crowdfunding campaing on fig. Its got around 19 days left and is a third of the way funded. Its the Smash like game that uses touhou bullet grind mechanics that allow you to dash through projectiles. It also has the ability to heal and the ability to switch between two different playstyles...smash or fighting game style to allow for crossups and mixups and different types of combos.

Its a great game and it seems they've added a Nintendo Switch copy to their plans meaning if it happens you can take it with you on the go!

https://www.fig.co/campaigns/earth-romancer

Feel free to support. This looks like it holds more promise than any other attempt at a smash genre style fighting game yet. Very on point with its artstyle and animations. Just a good deal more quality than most other attempts and its mechanics help it stand out greatly with its own identity.

Dat urley edition.

What's up with the kids though.

According to his Reddit, he got it online from Walmart. Kinda weird. He has never shown the disc itself too. A lot of people believe he has the AE disc which he got from an actual AE release. And you would think that someone else might come across it too if new(?) Vanilla copies are being ordered by retailers?

Caught up on the Coop Cup archives, what an amazing tournament.

Felt like I got more hype from watching this one tournament than the entirety of my time watching SFV till now. 3S is still one of the most hype games to spectate.

Hey I posted this in the SFV discord, wanted to post this here.

http://revisionisthistory.com/episodes/03-the-big-man-cant-shoot

A podcast called revisionist history, its really good. This episode in particular is a bout wilt chamberlain and his underhanded shot, and him deciding to give up on it. The reason I link this even though its an episode about basketball, is that I feel like its relevant to fighting games in general. Its about why people act the way they act, or play the way they want to play in this case. There are occasionally people who decent against more " lame" or cheap styles of play , whether its an " honor" thing or it isn't fun to watch. I feel like this episode of this podcast is relevant to that sort of thing.

Anyone know if there were any editions of fighting games for handhelds that would be considered special editions or definitive editions of various fighting games? I know some stuff got rereleased but I dont remember what all was exclusive to handheld rereleases on the PSP or anything. Wasn't there something with Darkstalkers and Street Fighter Alpha?

Mortal Kombat Unchained for PSP has all the content from MK Deception(including Shao Kahn and Goro from the Gamecube release) in addition to adding Frost, Kitana and Jax from Deadly Alliance. It was a really good port.

Mortal Kombat Tournament Edition for GBA is this bizarre version of Deadly Alliance that has half the cast of the game, the half that was previously missing from DA on GBA, but it also includes Noob Saibot and Sektor who weren't in Deadly Alliance.

Both games' new stories and endings are actually canon and are relevant in later sequels(the biggest example is Sektor's clan is from TE). So in a weird way these two portable games are the definitive editions of Deadly Alliance and Deception.

SFA3 on the PSP is pretty much the ultimate edition of the game as it contains the most characters.
