Since Dino Crisis was brought up, I only ever own PAL versions, but the intro FMV vocal audio was almost impossible to hear over the other audio. Was all regions like this?

i have the N.A. NTSC on ps1. just ran the intro FMV now. the dialogue on the intro is a bit softer when they have the flight masks on but louder when they take them off. Regina's pretty loud when she asks: "What about Cooper?" it sounds deliberate.

Hello, ResidentEra, or whatever you want to be called!

Resident Evil 7 is okay but isn't where I want the seris to go so I haven't felt the need to look up the community thread for this before but I'm glad to see some Action RE fans in here.

I've been replaying Chris/Pier's campaign in RE6 with my Resident Evil coop butt-buddy and it's still just so damn fun. The best way to describe the gameplay in RE6 is to not call it a TPS, but rather a Beat'm Up that just so happens to have guns as an option. Outside of dealing with enemies in the distance, I mainly just use the Melee and Counters with the occasional Quickshot.

Chris sucks in Marvel Infinite but at least I can still wreck shit up in 5 & 6!

New RE related announcement being teased or nothing? You Decide!

Every version has the odd sound design there and I have no clue why.

I enjoy 7. But I definitely still need me some more of the RE5 and 6 style for sure.
Not even the Rev games can pull off the satisfaction those game give you gameplay wise.
Mainly because as you said they're essentially brawlers with guns in them and to me that is a lot of fun.

But would he have any reason to start fighting BOWs again?

Could always just be area he is in has an outbreak. Said people show up there.
Then the whole game goes through the motions and he gets cleared of charges at the end or something.
Definitely wouldn't have a real reason unless it was maybe tied to Rebecca.

Soooo I still haven't actually gotten around to playing RE7 (despite being a franchise fan since way back in '96) due to being deployed when it came out and just getting distracted.... that and I was honestly sad it wasn't animu-action RE.
That being said, I finally picked it up (thanks Amazon price error!) and came up with a New Year's Resolution of replaying all entries available on PS4 leading to RE7 :)

Wish me luck!

Good Luck. Be sure to play Not a Hero as well and End of Zoe if you have it.
Those DLCs kind of bring back the animu-action

Well, I've put it off for 13 years for some bizarre reason, but I've finally started RE4.
I've only played to the "where are they going: bingo?" title drop, but I'm loving it so far.

I'm playing the Wii version with GC controller on a crt for that classic experience. The only problem I'm having are the button prompts being for the Wii controllers. I've figured out the main controls now, but I'm worried about the QTEs.

I know a few things about the game, but nothing major at all. I mainly just remember people gushing over El Gigante, or however it is pronounced.

Wouldn't be crazy if this third title that no one knows anything about is a lower budget game that works just like classic RE due to the good sales of REmake and 0 ?

The funny thing is that I was really hyped for it when it was coming out back on the GameCube, but never bought it, then I just kept putting it off.
I assume something else must have came out at the same time that I got instead.

Edit: Oh yeah, it was TimeSplitters Future Perfect. Well, at least I didn't get a bad game instead of it, because that's one of my top 10 of all time, and I put well over a thousand hours into each of the 3 games from that series.

Oh yeah, TimeSplitters is a great series that I would like to see return.

Also, yeah, reload animations are very slick in RE4.

So, I have REmake on the Gamecube and I want to play through it but I only have an HDTV. I've heard the game looks like shit on HDTVs (and having played it briefly, it does) but I still want to run through it. Should I just wait until I have a readily available CRT? I don't really feel like buying the HD PS4 port because I need to save my money and it'd be on my roommate's PS4.

i'm a huge CRT guy, but if you plan to play on a CRT. i'd grab free one off craigslist that can do component and play it off a white wii with component cables.

playing via gamecube with a good picture gets expensive.

Yeah, I've got a Gamecube with component cables so that's taken care of. I just don't have the room for a CRT in my tiny apartment lol.

Also, out of curiosity, why a white Wii specifically?

nice man, you got the best equipment. since you got the all expensive GN component cables go full CRT if you can grab one.

white wii's are the 1st gen wii's that are 100% backward compatible w/ gamecube. later wii's took that out. basically a cheaper way to play resident evil on gamecube via component. easy to find wii's from 20-30 bucks local.

Finally got around to beating Not a Hero and End of Zoë. I liked End of Zoë better. Felt like the Zeno clash gameplay meshed better with RE7's game style than a rehash of the boat portions of the main campaign. It's not that fun to rely on firearms in those tight corridors. Also, not a hero didn't give much ammo to the very end. I was just running and dodging molded and gun turrets the whole time. You just have to kind of blast away since the enemies crowd you, there isn't much strategy other than facing swarms.

I was expecting end of Zoë to be more traditionally horror based with all the rumors of that PT developer having a hand in the creation. But it ended up feeling the most similar to the old resident evils in tone in comparison to Not a Hero and the main campaign m.

Im thinking of playing Code Veronica X - for the first time, but now I'm in a dilemma, should I get the PS3 HD version or the PS4 PS2 Classic, which one is better regarding responsiveness / graphics?

I prefer the PS3 HD version. Though it can be darker than the original. IMO though either one is fine. Though currently i'd go with whatever is cheaper.

I guess the HD version would be the most responsive, have the better framerate (especially compared to the PAL version), but I like the look of the original version much more.

Yes. So if you're in the EU the HD version is definitely better than the PAL PS2 version.
Well, technically we're talking about the PS4 PS2 Classic version which surely would be the same worldwide, but still may be based on the PAL version?

But, anyways, another argument for the PS3 HD version is I can get it physical, which is a huge plus for me also, and cost about the same as the PS4 psn game (PS2 Classic)

Edit: and bought, "Revival Selection" for 18€, will be here whenever jppost feels like it. :)

I see, thanks, well that definitely sounds like I'd like the HD version more. And is the PS4 PS2 Classic a PAL conversion?
Nah, only PAL territories. I just mentioned it because I'm in the UK and there is no 60HZ version of Code Veronica here besides the HD version, so even though I prefer the original version, I still sucks that I have to put up with the 50HZ slowdown and all that.

I see, yeah that sucks. I'm glad I asked... I probably wouldn't be very happy with a 50hz PAL version. And now I even get it bundled with RE4... I kinda love collecting these games, I already have the Chronicles HD bundle (and didn't like it lol, I only played one game from the two yet though) , I just hope I like Code Veronica, but from everything I read I should like it!

I played CV on the Dreamcast loads growing up. It's a pretty nostalgic game for me (like all the classic RE games are). Playing it more recently I think it is one of the more weaker games in the series, but I do still always enjoy playing through it now and again.

As I've stated, I like RE6, but one problem I have with the game that I never hear anyone else mention is the lack of inventory space. I'm constantly out of inventory space in that game, even more so than RE4.

Beat Not a Hero again since I got my PS4 copy I let someone borrow back. The deflect to melee stuff is so good. Like I wished RE7 had it as an optional mode or something.

ah shoot! RE4: i'm at the castle inside the hall where the water is and ash is running around cranking handles on each side. i'm trying to maximize my ammo. as soon as go in the room i think i throw a flash as i walk in and then lob green to blow up the middle red guy but forget the rest of my strategy.
now i'm just hiding in a corner letting them in come one by one. shoot their leg, then suplex city. restarting it bc i wasted too much ammo =)

edit: i think the strategy might be as soon as i walk in the hall, shoot the red guys face with the rifle. then throw a flash when the alien head shows up.

Oh, that room.

I always try to evade the first bolts shot at me, have a grenade ready and take out the bowgun snipers from the balcony. Then take my shotgun out and get ready to roundhouse kick some dudes in the face.

Man, I want to play RE 4 again. Both of my copies aren't at my place :( Kind of hoping Capcom will port over to the Switch though.

I've brought it up, not enough enough slots to hold one slot of ammo for each type of gun, god forbid you have two slots devoted to one ammo type.

The entire inventory system sucked having to scroll through weapons...in an action game, with no pausing environment while switching.

Had a fun raid mode marathon last night:
Eo9onbK.jpg

aeaDSmV.jpg

Made me realize that what I personally want most from Resident Evil next is a full game of Mercenaries, big list of playable characters from all over the series with unique melees/skills, maps and enemies from every game, couch and online co-op, leaderboards and weekly events... That would really be the game of forever for me. Oh and doesn't have to be exclusive but I need this on Switch please, handheld mode has been a real game changer for raid mode, I already loved the barebones 3DS Mercenaries game so it didn't come as a surprise but man do I love this stuff, gameplay is just a perfect fit for a portable. C'mon Capcom, do it!

I would love to see more of the mercenaries my self in future side games. The differences between 5 and 6 always makes me go back to each one and still feels fresh with each title. Always feels great keeping up that combo and making sure it doesn't drop!

i'm sure it will be on switch at some point =) prob the most ported game ever for RE franchise.

i been having fun redoing the board. so far blue flash bang and a green kills everyone while knocking down the red leader. doing that the doors immediately open releasing the 2nd wave of goons.
or as soon as i walk in, hitting retry from continue point gives me a head start to head shot the red leader skipping the cutscene animation where he yells and points his finger at me. this is such a fun game =)

I dont understand why Mercs 3D didn't get the port treatment. I was kinda expecting it for the new era re-release of Revelations. Are we (the Mercs only game wanters) in minority or?

Well, I don't want a port of that game. I have an extreme love/hate feeling toward it. On the one hand, I put in so many hours with it, got so much fun out of it, and love it for that. On the other hand, for a full-price (at the time) retail game, Capcom's complete handling of it was total and utter shit! It was a very barebones package, and that shit they pulled with making it impossible to clear the save memory was just...wow!

But yeah, the concept of a Mercs standalone game is awesome, and it is a game that deserves its own spotlight. But to simply package a bunch of leftovers, sell them at full price, and when people reject it assume the fans don't want such a thing...

It would have been for the best if LB/L1 was given a different function since the one it has in the final game (showing you a waypoint to your current objective) is completely useless in the type of game RE6 is. RE6 is primarily a coop game(it's certainly the only way I play it) so I can understand the forced real-time Weapon Switching.

I think they could have made it so that LB/L1 opens up an inventory for items like Grenades, First-Aid Sprays, and C4. Weapons could also be accessed in this menu but they could be assigned hot keys on the now free D-pad. Ammo should just be saved up individually for each weapon and shouldn't be something you have to manage yourself.

I like the Mercs mode and I'd be down for a standalone title as long as it wasn't just a big asset reuse. That said, I've always been a bigger fan of replaying the actual campaigns.

Yeah, I read about it a lot I know it has its issues - I really think I'll like it though as long it doesn't control totally clunky or something, that was what I didn't like in zero, the controls just felt too unresponsive. I do love Remake HD (and other "tank-control games") though, so it's not the control scheme , I think tank controls are great for these kind of games.

Anyways, ordered, now the wait begins, haha.

:o

Hope I don't have to pay tax (this seems to be a lottery every time I import something lol, but it should be cheap enough to not trigger customs...)

Looks like if I ever pick up the Xbox One gruesome edition of RE7 from Japan it'll be digital. It's barely on import sites and it's vastly more expensive even in its home region. Would've thought it'd be on a fire sale at this point.

£15+ (item+postage and packaging) is the tax threshold in UK, though a majority slip through, just too many imports to nab them all.

God the end of Resident Evil Revelations 2 is the cheesiest and most fan-gratifying thing ever. It's the best

The reaction to the events of RE6 ongoing in the epilogue was pretty awkward tho

Claire: "Oh, you found Chris after six months of being missing? What's that, he's an amnesiac and barely remembers anything? Oh, you have him fighting mutating guerilla soldiers in China? Well, tell him and Piers I said hi!"

Well, Chris is a BSAA member who has been fighting mutating guerilla soldiers and various mutants since 1998. I'm sure it's "ah, another day, another apocalypse scenario" for the Redfields right now.
