I would be fine if they had premium but released the maps to the public after 2 or so months.

I just wish the less popular game modes actually consistently had populated DLC servers. This has been an issue since BF3.

This guy clearly works at EA, to have that much detail you have to work for the company.

I'm inclined to believe this dude. I'm hoping it's true, I'm excited for it.

I didn't realize people weren't fond of the horses in Battlefield 1. I don't mind them. Maybe I haven't played the game long enough, are they really annoying or something?

Problem with them is they're like terminators. You see one coming and you know you won't be able to kill him cause of how much of a bullet sponge it is.

They were nerfed very early on, and only a super small number of them are allowed at any one time; so their possibilities are almost ruined and no one has interest in them.

It sucks, because from the trailers it was intended for many of them to be available at a time, with players being able to do squad sized cavalry charges and all that.

I would be pretty disappointed if its really World War 2 again. I think CoD clearly shows the fatigue is still very present. You can only retread Private Ryan so much, and EA will make sure as hell thats all we get from a WW2 game initially. Maybe there will be a Pacific Theatre map pack or something the like if we are lucky, but they would totally be an afterthought.

Since Sci-Fi fell out of grace atm as well I would like Battlefield to explore fantasy or alternate reality scenarios, like Steampunk or the like. But EA will make sure as hell that won't happen as well.

On the other hand, I was pretty disappointed and sceptical when BF1 was announced since I could not imagine it being fun with bolt action rifles only, since thats all soldiers basically had back then. And the game turned out pretty great I guess, even if needed to rely heavily on prototype weapons and the like to offer diversity.

I love that game! This is how you do DLC right. I usually don't spend much time with MP shooters and this is also how it looked like when I picked it up during the release. 3 months ago I decided to get back into the game, so I bought premium to play the new maps and they are all great. In general the game looks amazing on PC. My first 30 hours with the game I was only playing Operations, now I started playing Conquest, which is a much quicker fun and you do appreciate the maps more. The combination of classes, weapons and diversity of maps really brings out the best in the genre, never got boring so far.

I'm not really excited for the idea, either. I think I miss current day weaponry. Sure, I could always boot up BF4, but the community sort of died out in Oceania (minus a couple of 64 player conquest servers).
Being down in the mud in Trench Warfare is something to behold with BF1's fidelity, and I'm sure a WW2 game would leave a similar impression, but man I want to fire some M4's.

Which are the best guns for Assault class?

Hellriegel 1915 Factory is good, but its a "noob weapon", its just to easy and boring now, haven't used it sense the first couple of months.

Model 10-A Hunter was ridiculous back in the dayz, but they nerfed it :( I really like the Model 1900 Slug if you want a shotgun.

Right now I'm playing with the C96 Trench and really liking it, really stable weapon and large magazine.

I have not unlocked the Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16 yet, but Ive seen it on streams and it will probably be a new favorite.

Maybe my question should be, "which guns are the best according to each corresponding class?". So that's my question now. Thanks Supreme Allah and Striker86. This game is so damn fun.

Medic: Farquhar-Hill Optical, RSC 1917 Optical, M1907 SL Sweeper, Selbstlader 1906 Factory

Support: Lewis Gun Suppressive, M1917 Low Weight

Scout: Before the nerf: Martini-Henry Infantry, today: Lebel Model 1886 Infantry, but I believe many of the snipers are identical with different names.

my bad I should have mention the source or rather leak.
Atake it with a gram of salt. It's from almightydaq, the dude who leaked bf1.

WW2 is disappointing, BF1 already feels like a WW2 game with all the machine guns and experimentals.

Was hoping for "Current warfare", looking at it from the bright side, another time wasting game I don't need to buy and can work on my backlog instead.

Why is medal tracking still borked? It seems like every time I log in, the medal being tracked doesn't correctly display what I've done so far for it. Or it shows a completely different medal being tracked that I know I didn't choose.

Assuming they do WW2 with the next one, I really hope they explore the conflicts in North Africa, China, and perhaps the Soviet–Japanese War.

I think World War II is the time to reinvent vehicle combat. Cuz as of right now it is kind of boring.

I can def see ww2 happening since bf1 pretty much plays like a ww2 game. A lot of recycle assets will be used I am assuming.

Assault: MP18 trench or optical is really versatile. M97 variants are also pretty fun. I also really like the M10A and M1900 slug variants, but they are not exactly forgiving.
Medic: the Mondragon Optical is pretty nice overall. While the M1907 Sweeper seems decent, the Factory variant is flat out better in every way possible - use that instead. The Fedorov variants are both really good. Once you're more confident in your aim, the Selbstlader 1906 and the Model 8 Marksman/Factory are pretty much god tier, but you NEED 60+% accuracy per clip to really benefit from them.
Support: there aren't really any bad support weapons apart from the Huot Optical, but I'd recommend the Madsen Low Weight. Really good fire rate, damage, decent magazine size and reload speed, but the sights are a pain (the alternative sights are more usable). Really, you're pretty much fine with any low weight LMG. Burst people up to medium range, bipod down on cover and laserbeam them if you're farther away.
Scout: this is where it gets into personal preference, but I prefer the iron sight variants for the faster ADS speed and he ability to cycle the bolt without unzooming. Still, all of them are decent at the very least and they all have their uses. If you don't really want to do long range shooting, the Vetterli rifles, the Carcano, the M95s and the 1895 Trench are all very nice but you'll be two shotting enemies more often than not.

Autoloading 8 extended

bruh

Btw, finally mopped up some DLC weapons I've been missing, and now I only need a service star with the Nagant revolver, the Obrez and the Kolibri to have (at least) one with every variant in the game, yay. Nearly 43400 kills and the most I have with a single weapon is 1712 :D

Trying to get a service star with the Kolibri seems like a pretty good way to make you hate the game.

It's going to take some focused snipers who don't notice me putting down an AT mine next to them.

What in the world is a m p 18?

Also why are Behemoth a thing?

The starting Assault SMG.

Behemoths were supposed to let a losing team gain an edge so they can make a comeback. It didn't work, thanks in no small part to the way the Conquest scoring system works.
They also remove 4 to 6 players from actually going for any but a few select objectives. The Dreadnought especially is just a big pile of shit that contributes fuck all, the train is stuck on rails (duh) and the Zeppelin gets instakilled in 5 minutes if there's a single person on the other team who wants to take it down. All it takes is an AA that's hard to get an angle on, or an HMG emplacement, or a single decent pilot...

So yeah, it might've been a decent idea sometime but it was executed badly.

It would be a smart decision if they're planning a release in both 2018 and 2019, historical periods like the World Wars will probably be abandoned soon again so might as well make a great WW2 game with refined mechanics put forward in BF1. 2019's Battlefield would then have a good chunk of time to refine, reintroduce, and innovate the modern formula.

I've definitely seen comebacks that wouldn't have happened without a behemoth. It's fairly rare because of the scoring and the nature of a comeback mechanic, but it happens.

I've barely seen any conquest comebacks. By the time a team gets a behemoth they're so far behind and they're usually too shitty to turn it around.

My old HDD died so I haven't been able to play for a while but man did I miss it. Been craving some BF1. I also upgraded to an SSD along the way and holy shit, the load times are so much better.

Maybe the Behemoths do jack shit in conquest, but they can provide a breakthrough in Operations and I think thats the mode they were intentionally geared for.

Speaking of behemoths, we're going to be getting dreadnought vs dreadnought in one of the last half of the maps on Turning Tides DLC apparently.

They'll sometimes kill you a ton but with medics around almost nobody stays dead and really nothing useful comes from it. Behemoths are just a way for the losing team to K/D farm so they feel good about their match even if they lost spectacularly. I don't like 'em though. Getting instakilled by something you can't really avoid is boring.

That sounds... interesting. That said, emplacements in this game are stronger than in the previous titles, so if there are really enough of them I can see that preventing a vehicle clusterfuck like in previous titles.

On another note, are the giant guns on Kap Helles kind of bugged? On top of having a way to small arc for turning and therefore not being able to target the landmass, there isn't any minimap for aiming like with the same gun on Albion. Is that intentional? If so, how are you supposed to do anything with it?
