My dude, it doesn't matter what the special edition box art shows. Nothing about that indicates character alignment and I can tell you that if I came in here with a question about the game before getting

Morag as a party member, especially after you fight her early on...

And I ran into your post there, I would have been really pissed off, as I'm sure many others would be too. Many other people are spoiler tagging later game party members, I don't see why you have to keep arguing against it. It's simply common decency.

I mean you're the only one in here making an issue of it and you've beaten the game. No one else has commented on it, or even responded to my larger post in general, and many others in this thread have openly said their names. Other people have even agreed that the statute of limitations is starting to pass up. At this point, considering the thread is in hangouts, you have to be actively looking for it, and a month afterwards when launch buzz is fading out it's pretty much on you not to spoil yourself. Yeah, if someone else came and said "oh I haven't got them yet, that's too bad", then I'd be more mindful of that because then a problem has actually taken place, but so far the only person who's made an issue out of it is someone who isn't even affected. This is all just a bit Streisandy.

Beat the game -- what are everyone's favorite Blade specific quests? My rare blades are:

Godfrey
Wulfric
Perceval (doing his now)
Agate
Gorg
Boreas
Dagas
Perun
Kora
Azami (obsessed with her)
Ursula
Adenine
Electra
Dahlia (finished hers)

And

Roc
Aegaeon

Playing a lot of Tiger! Tiger! recently as I've been leveling up and "cleaning" the mess with all my blades. Terrible at it btw; just a few hours ago I realized you could hit the turtles from below. All this time thinking someone at Monolith just loved turtles...

Anyways, I've been completing the Mercenary missions too, and wondering what difference does it make to pick a particular party leader (apart from a bunch of missions in which you need a specific blade to lead the group)?

I just got Agate too, one of my favorite designs!

I'd love to know this too. If this is the song that plays any time there's a "slapstick" sort of situation happening, I am on a quest to make it my ringtone.
You might be thinking of "A Nopon's Life". The song I was thinking of only played a few times throughout the whole game (twice with Zeke and maybe like twice more in miscellaneous rare blade quests I think).

How the hell do you deal with the
Phantasms in Chapter 7?

I genuinely can't deal enough damage to stop them from spawning.

Im pretty sure thats just a timed thing. I thought it dragged on too. Its kinda like, just hold out until the story figures "okay thats enough bullshit for the poor bastard, on with the show!"

I believe you have to target the correct enemy (spawners rather than the spawns). The default target might pick the spawns so you have to activily switch targets. The spawners have a different icon above their head.

Bring all of them to about half health by focusing on each one and then start a Chain Attack.

But a chain attack doesn't switch targets when one dies and I don't really have any AoE attacks for my blades.
Most attacks during Chain Attacks will hit every enemy within range.

Use the focus command on an enemy by pressing left on the d-pad, then switch targets using R+Y/A and command your allies to focus on a different target once they're down to about half health.

So that unkillable boss with constantly replenishing health in Chapter 5 that you aren't supposed to be able to beat... I beat it :p

135 hours in and just finished Chapter 5. Starting to get a little fatigued...
Blade quests are super annoying, might just leave those until the post-game that I assume exists.

Game Informer just released their 2017 RPG awards...not a single mention of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (they gave it a 7.5 score, and called the battle systems impressive but the overall game a rube goldberg contraption adding up to something mundane, and only a handful of standout moments). Yet their review was very complementary towards the game's systems, and appropriately critical of things like turning up rare blades and some of the side quests.

While it was a great year for RPGs overall, they found an award for just about every other major 2017 RPG, and one 2016 RPG (FFXV).

Some game sites include year end releases in the next years list because there isn't enough time to fairly judge them. That's why in this case there's no XB2 but includes FFXV.

Just finished... I don't know where to start with this... I loved it. There are some frustrating elements, such as the random nature of the blades, but those weren't enough to detract from my experience. The story is great, the music is great (That credits theme... I love it more than Beyond The Sky...), the combat system is loads of fun, and the ending makes it all worth it. I wasn't sure how this game was going to turn out, but in the end, I prefer this to Xenoblade 1... I'm looking forward to seeing the post game and the dlc.

Lastly, I present my English Voice Actor Tier List (I'll try to avoid spoilers):

S Tier (Great Performance):
Poppi - I have never felt more emotion from a robot before.
Pyra - Her voice suits her so well... What really sells it is how it cracks in all the right places
Vandham - One certain scene involving him had me in awe. His actor really killed it...
Party Member #5 - Whether its comedy or wisdom, The delivery is always on-point.
Nia - The accent really suits her and the actress does a great job conveying Nia's personality. However, her performance really takes off as you approach the endgame, with one scene being outstanding.

A Tier (Good Performance):
Party Member #4 - A solid performance, but I do think there were a few problems with emotional expression. That being said, there was one scene where I absolutely loved her performance.
Party Member #4's Blade - Another solid performance. I kinda wish this character got more lines to work with so I could hear them more.
Party Memeber #5's Blade - Her voice was somewhat annoying to me, but I still acknowledge she did a fine job in terms of acting.
Bana - While his style of speaking was wierd at first, it quickly grew on me. Every word is brimming with greed and enthusiasm. I espicially love how he rolls his R's
Malos - He does a really good job expressing that raw rage. My only problem is that he doesn't do much else other than rage.
Akhos - Not much I can say. He did a great job enunciating certain words to give it a grandiose style.
Jin - I'm not gonna say much to avoid spoilers, but while not as impressive as Metal Face, he still did a fine job.

B Tier (Mostly Good Performance, but with some bad aspects dragging it down):
Rex - He does a good job with normal conversations, and I particularly like his accent. He just can't do battle cries. It's especially disappointing compared to Shulk.
Tora - His voice actor does a great job with the lines he is given, but the meh-mehs got annoying fairly quickly.
Mythra - She does a fine job expressing her smug attitude, but she could use more direction. Sometimes her lines just feel off.
Mikhail - Half of his lines come out awkward, but he gets better as the story progresses.

C Tier (Average Performance):
Gramps - Not a memorable performance, but not a bad one either.
Patroka - Same as Gramps really... However, I also think she suffered the most from trying to match the lip sync. Her timing just felt off half the time.

Overall, I really enjoyed the English Dub. It has some problems, but the benefits largely outweighed them in my opinion.

In this case FFXV was given the best Post-Launch Support award - they acknowledged it came out over a year ago. XB2's review was posted November 30, and the author said he gave the game about 100 hours of playtime, which is more than enough playtime to review the game.

He is alright, but not great in my opinon. Like the rest of the English Dub, he gets better as the game progresses; Much like Malos, he did a great job expressing his raw rage once he changed forms. I think he has a similar problem to Jin; he simply isn't memorable. Though in the end, I do think he nailed his final lines and went out on a high note.

Has anyone else noticed that since the last update they seem to fixed what people where calling a sharpening filter? I don't think it looks as rough on handheld as it once did.

250+ hours and I finally decided to beat the game. Haven't touched the superbosses or post game quests. I'm a little burnt out now, so not sure if I will do that. I did end up getting all the rare blades, so atleast I don't have to farm cores if I do decide to continue.

Oh man, I pulled off a full burst with KOS-MOS last night. That shit was amazing.
I love how they brought back her signature attack from Xenosaga for her full burst. X-Buster FTW!

Fun fact: Party Member 4's blade shares a voice actor with...Boreas.

Yeah, let that sink in for a while.

I think handheld mode looks pretty decent most of the time. Every now and then though, it does drop the resolution randomly and good lord it looks rough when it does. I don't see it that often though.

On a side note, I finally realised where the quotes from the thread title come from and burst out laughing.

Starting to feel like i want to get on to finishing this, so i decided to grab Vess for Nia as the only non-Gacha healer, and Kasandra for Morag to finally get a Dark type.

I can't believe i've missed Vess all this time. Just standing there.
What's the better strategy for Kasandra? I know you need to salvage up a monster, so should it be the case that i deliberately whiff on the QTEs, and which salvage point should i try? Any of them down in the Chasnagh wastes near the factory, or is there one specific one?

The one right near the gate of the docks. Just try and get the qte right and eventually the monster will pop up.

Anyone else reckons that at some very early point in production, the plan was for the party to consist only of Rex, Nia and Tora?

They are all similar in age, which kinda goes with that theme of the game being a playable shonen anime where our young heroes go off on adventures. Not to mention, you can easily play 30+ hours with that team before No.s 4 and 5 finally join you

20 legendaries and 80 rares...and still no KOS-MOS. Damn.

And she's the only one left.

And Finch's affinity quest story is hilarious.

Whelp, I should be finished with all the regular quests. Just need one more dev level for Argentum, Tantal, and Leftheria. Still have 1.7m gold left after Sheba's quest and Nopon Doubloons. All that's left now is pulling the other 11 rare Blades, finishing the Affinity charts, and farming for endgame superboss-hunting.

You guys need to open common cores. I got most of my rares (and I have all of them) through common cores... even unboosted. Just raise your luck as much as you can and open every core you get. I think some people right off common cores when they should (I was averaging a rare blade about every 60-80 common cores opened).

Got my first rare blade in ch4 at about lvl27. It's the polar bear thing for Nia...which is a little same because she already has a healer. I think I'm gonna wait until I get more party members before opening up more cores.

I've never gotten a rare from a common core, and never will (unless it happens on a future playthrough). I don't have time to open a billion cores

I sell those fuckers.

You want to use the one nearest to the (probably impassable) gate. At least, that's the one that worked for me.

I used gold cylinders and got rich, but normals should get you more fights which probably makes the event trigger more quickly.

I need DLC

post game is a slog just feeding my pouch Items to get from 3,000 trust to 9,000 trust takes a boring ass long time.

I wish battles would raise trust better but I hardly see a difference unless I complete a side quest and there are not many of those left for me :|
I need DLC or a new game to play
