Really loving the new update, it's great to finally have Arcade Mode. I'll give Capcom credit, it might have taken longer than it should but at least they put effort in, having multiple modes for Arcade is pretty awesome. Also thanks to the free Sakura trial, I got the last bit of FM I needed to get Abigail and complete Season 2 characters.

I've squeezed a lot of value out of SFV so far. Got the base game + Season 1 for £13 in the PSN summer sale, all Season 2 characters free with FM and now the free update to Arcade Edition. I won't feel bad about buying Season 3 now tbh.

I think a potential General Story Volume 2 would center on Neo-Shadaloo vs. Illuminati. Bison will probably be back for SFVI. He's too popular to leave out.

"When you're finished growing up, the you that you are will cease to be" is pretty ominous.
I dunno, that's how everyone grows up. You face challenges you grow and mature, and when you finish you wont be the child you were before.

He grows up, confronts who made him, and beats them. And becomes his own person. And less bratty and loud maybe. Ya know? His whole deal with Rog is that he needed to go out and see the world. Its pretty obvious that the line is about fighting bison. But I think the end of that is, him maturing into a different person.

i decided to look into frame data for the first time ever, so can you help me understand the meaning of each concept? seems useful for understanding the speed and riskiness of moves at a glance, but the terminology is new to me. correct me where im wrong!

startup: time leading up to the hit
active: amount of time the move can potentially hit
recovery: "cooldown" animation; normally cant take any action during this time

on hit: if your move hits the opponent, this is now the recovery time of your move
on guard: if your move is guarded against, this is now the recovery time of your move
(what do negative numbers mean?)

v-trigger cancel on hit, on block: i have no idea
+ means you can move before your opponent can for that many frames
- means your opponent can move before you can for that many frames

So if you see a move that's -6, that means your opponent can use any move that has 6 or less frames of startup to hit you before you can block.

If a move is +3, that means you can press a button 3 frames earlier. You can almost think of it as subtracting 3 frames from the startup of your following move.

There is a really big reason why SFV is going hard on the SF3 lore, and it's because they are going to finally move past SF3 w/ SF6. The issue w/ SF3 lore is that no one knows it.

Lowkey it's kinda sociopathic that Menat seems to know this stuff and won't straight up tell Ed beyond cryptic hints. Or, like, do anything to stop it.
I imagine she can't see all of it, only ideas are being communicated

Or Two, she's like a watcher and is kind of obligate to do nothing to stop it. Though that's contradictory to what rose was doing with bipson

This is really random, but I just want to say how much I appreciate all of the "connective tissue" content in SFV that bridges the gap to SFIII: Alex is just a bum, Ibuki's a schoolgirl, Kolin is playable, Sean's sister is playable, and someone connected to Q is playable. SFIV was missing this kind of stuff. It felt like a soulless compilation game.

Also, in the same spirit, Tom should really be included as a playable character at some point. He's arguably the biggest plot device of SFIII. His inclusion would be reminiscent of Nash's presence in Alpha.

I cheesed out Akuma in Extra with Vega's flying Barcelona spam.

I went ahead and accidentally got season 1 character pass and the season 3 character pass on GMG. Accidentally, because I thought it was season 2. =[

I saved 12 bucks then bought the season 2 pass on Steam, because it isn't for sale anywhere else. So I guess I saved 2 bucks overall. ='[[

I wish I liked any of the characters besides Vega. I feel like they're all filler until Cody. Might learn Abigail since I'm an FF stan.

A move that is + means you recover that many frames faster than your opponent. A move that is - means that your opponent will recover that many frames faster than you. Numbers changes whether it's on hit or block.

The fastest move in SF is a 3 frame jab. That means that any move that is -3 or more (-4, -5 etc...) on block is punishable with a jab at least.

+ means you can move before your opponent can for that many frames
- means your opponent can move before you can for that many frames

So if you see a move that's -6, that means your opponent can use any move that has 6 or less frames of startup to hit you before you can block.

thank you both. makes sense!

SF6 is just gonna be the story of how everyone died except Chun-Li and Ryu so they can keep making DLC costumes for them

Also make Dudley's car playable before Gill jacks it. Like in Fighters Megamix.

Kikosho has potential for scrubby Chun mains like myself. Being able to convert poke xx Kikosho xx EX Legs/EX SBK/Super is a godsend. The only problems are: A) it's 3 bars, which can be tough for Chun to get before she's low on life and B) higher ranked players will block most pokes. The damage scaling on the guard break is also brutal, and it's pretty easy to hit her out of it. Still, I'm excited to see what people like MOV will do with it.

More likely they'll just remake 3 next game.

SF VI will be a time travel reboot back to SF II and will erase junk characters like Laura and Remy from canon. Then SF VII will focus on SF Kids, including Mel, Amy, and Ed (who'll be further hinted to as gay, if you couldn't already guess from his battle costume). It'll also feature the debut of Chun and Ryu's daughter, Ka-Si, finally cementing their status as one true pairing.

Guys, not sure if it was already answered here but... how do I get FM to complete the Extra Battles? Where are those golden Shadaloo operatives that where said to give FM for this purpose? Is there a schedule for when they'll show up?

There's a schedule for the first set here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/strumsl...r-features-in-street-fighter-v-arcade-edition

First one shows up from 1/19 through 1/21, costs 500 FM to play, and rewards 2500 FM for a win. If you win all 3 times you're allowed to challenge him, that's 6,000 net FM. In February there'll be one that costs 1000 FM to play and rewards 5000, or a possible 12,000 net FM. It's unclear how often Golden Shadaloo soldiers will appear, though so far it seems like they'll only appear on weekends.

I feel the same. IV just felt like a KOF Dream Match game story wise. I think they just didn't have time to figure out the story past III and they couldn't bring back everyone after III anyways, so..."let's just make it happen before III happened!"

I believe this too, but I think they'll also quash a good chunk of the 3 lore, like Chun retiring to train kids or whatever. I think there's no way in hell they make a game without Ryu, Ken, Chun, Cammy, Zangief, Dhalsim and at least one of the 4 kings now. That's like the unshakable foundation at this point. Some of these characters need new reasons to live, mind, since with Bison dead and the Dolls rescued Chun and Cammy have both had their revenge, for instance.

I assumed for a while that they were leading up to either an all-new second cinematic story or a retelling of SF3 within SF5 at one point, but somebody at Capcom told me that at least for AE the costings didn't match up to do a second cinematic story since it was apparently quite expensive. I hold out hope they might still do that with Super SF5 or whatever they end up eventually doing when they no doubt do another soft relaunch packaging of the game in another two years.

I can see Dudley taking an interest in Ed trying to show him the path.

He can be the equivalent of Harry from Kingsmen who takes Eggsy (ED) under his wing.

Yeah, I'd rather them wait till most/all of the characters are out before doing a second story update if there's only going to be one shot at it.

After Marvel they may be skittish on leaning on that to move sales as well, because that ended up being a very bad bet.

My copy of the game just arrived so I can start playing as soon as I get home.

To be fair, SF4 brought back a lot of the classic characters after being gone for a really long time. I don't really know what Capcom was thinking with the original version of SF3.

I'm guessing SF6 will pick up after SF3.

Always feels weird having to relearn the game whenever a balance update comes out. Loving the fresh coat of paint though.

Who do I contact for the SFV Era discord?

AE has definitely breathed new life into this game. I'm glad I've gotten back into it.

3 frames is still an incredibly small window

I saw the demo explaining the whole point of m tatsu is that you can combo it but I thought I saw a h tatsu combo. Hopefully it was just m tatsu and I'm blind.
3 frames ain't too bad. My execution isn't even that great and I don't miss many combos in this game, unlike sf4.
I'd recommend not going for the m tatsu combo and instead just canceling b hp into h dp. On block you can go for the m tatsu I believe that's only -1 or 2 on bloc.
MK tatsu is actually unsafe on block. LK and HK are safe though

I feel like they could always bring Bison back without a huge issue because Psycho Power is such a nebulous, infinitely powerful thing

Like they could bring back Bison as a Psycho Power Ghost or something

This game is overdue for a new character from Delta Red/a new Doll. It's weird to me that it seems like Capcom's going all in on Neo-Shadaloo and not giving older groups attention.

Only doll I'll accept is the one with the pink hair who laughs like Karin and screams into a megaphone.
