Last time,Robin64 sent me a JP eshop code of 1,000¥/points, I bought the game, downloaded it, processed it the way therourke said to, gave them the info, and voila~ it now works. Hopefully the same thing will work for any other game (with some tinkering perhaps).

I'm willing to pay for Rudras.

Feel free to PM me.

EDIT: I also PM'd Robin and ThorHammerstein. I'm willing to pay to get other games working too if Rudras is covered.

So marvelous got fixed due to someone buying the game right? What other games do we gotta buy to make things happen?

This is the entirety of the missing VC library. By missing I mean we are missing its Preset ID in a strong educated guess form, and/or a dump of the VC ROM at all to know if it has a unique VC build that commonly contains a VC hack, PCM audio, or a never before released on cartridge v1.1+ of the ROM. Naturally, we are "missing" anything on the Preset ID list that isn't a 100% confirmed guess too, but much of the list can be guessed with a high degree of accuracy. The following list are the exceptions to that.

WiiU + Preset ID Unknown + No VC ROM dumped:

WiiU + Guessed Preset ID + No VC ROM dumped:

Rumored/Unreleased, but likely have Preset IDs reserved:

  • Super Mario All-Stars (All regions) (DUMPED, but not verified)
  • Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2 (J-NTSC)
  • Mini Yonku Let's & Go!! - Power WGP 2 (J-NTSC)
  • Power Soukoban (J-NTSC)
  • Picross NP Vol1 (J-NTSC)
  • Picross NP Vol2 (J-NTSC)
  • Picross NP Vol3 (J-NTSC)
  • Picross NP Vol4 (J-NTSC)
  • Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun (J-NTSC)
  • Dragon Quest 1+2 (J-NTSC)
  • Dragon Quest 3 (J-NTSC)
  • Ganbare Goemon 4 (J-NTSC)
  • Populous (Not sure which regions)
  • Super Bomberman 3 (J-NTSC)

Original Wii:

  • Takahashi Meijin no Daibouken Jima (J-NTSC)
  • Takahashi Meijin no Daibouken Jima II (J-NTSC)
  • Final Fight 2 (J-NTSC)
  • Kyūyaku Megami Tensei: Megami Tensei I・II (J-NTSC)

Unconfirmed Original Wii:
  • Super Bomberman 3 (Claimed non-existant E-NTSC)

After reading the original post here, I'm still marginally on the fence about doing this.. Is there a way of re-flashing this (safely) back to default usage if anything goes wrong? If so, how?! May it be an idea to add that to the OP?

It's why you dump the original kernel and it says to never lose this file. You can just use hakchi to restore from that file and it will be as if nothing happened.

Genesis games need to be launched with the /bin/md command. Sometimes Genesis games are bundled in other formats, such as .bin, and hakchi adds them with the /bin/bin command.

If you change the command it solves the issue. Or you can change the format of the games themselves to .md and add them again.

Thanks! All good now!
I feel like the Genesis emulation is heaps better than the official Backbone collections on 360.

Yes, you just choose "uninstall" from hakchi2 and it does just that using your original kernel dump.

Happy to chuck some money in the pot, let's say to try to get Wrecking Crew 98 working?

For the whole list of JP VC games you put up there, of the 11 titles, it would come to about 9,200yen. It's totally doable since they're listed to buy.
For the original Wii games - I think you can still buy them but I haven't bought Wii VC in years.

Wii VC is being closed down in 2019. You can only add points until March 2018. So let's act soon.

End date of each service

Adding points to the Wii Shop Channel: Monday 26th March 2018 at 21:00 UK time
Purchase of WiiWare, Virtual Console software, Wii Channels (including free software)*: Thursday, 31st January 2019 at 06:00 UK time
Full closure of the Wii Shop Channel and disabling of redownload functions in 2019 (more details to be announced at a later date)

Honestly, I thought the original Wii eShop has been closed down for years. I didn't even think it was possible to get the games anymore. I figured the only chances of dumping those was people who already bought them years ago still having them on their system.

This one I may be able to help with. I'll have to look into converting my Wii to Japanese soon.

Though not essential, for the sake of full documentation I will nab both Pop'n TwinBee Rainbow Bell Adventures (E-PAL) and Demon's Crest (E-PAL).

I should warn about Demons Crest E-PAL, in that buying it may prove un-useful. While NERD did often reserve an unused Preset ID for the true 50hz English PAL ROM, due to backlash from fans most of the E-PAL releases on the WiiU contained the 60hz US ROM inside them. The exceptions being the releases in with first caused the backlash (Like Donkey Kong Country 2).

Demons Crest is an oddity in that most games can have that reserved, but unused E-PAL Preset ID guessed simply by placement. It being an ID immediately after a E-NTSC/J-NTSC release. But Demons Crest E-NTSC is a game that NERD placed haphazardly in a otherwise empty space in the main Wii Product ID derived section of the list. There's no way to guess any unused reserved ID for the E-PAL version based off that, and there's a 99% chance that the VC release you would buy on the PAL eShop uses the same 0x1046 preset id as the US release.

It worries me that I need to uninstall the snes9x core. Do I really need to uninstall the old core?

"Step 7. Uninstall the old snes9x2010 core from your SNES Classic using the uninstall mods menu."

"Step 8. Install your new snes9x_10_25_17 mod to your SNES Classic using the install mods menu."

Also one of the comments on that reddit claims some roms aren't working anymore with that new core.

This is why I don't really "support" Retroarch in here much. It's pretty much a use-at-your-own-risk kinda thing.

Honestly, if you have any other device capable of running Far East of Eden, I would suggest using that instead.

You can have both cores installed and just use one core for that one game.

Yeah, probably the best for now.

Still find it weird you need to do all these steps to get it to work on the mini for now. Most other translated/patched roms work fine on the mini. (with or without retroarch)

Well SNES9x on the PC had to be modified to get it running too. Only higan would run it properly at first. I don't believe any other emulators yet run it. I think it was because of the real-time clock it uses.

Oh ok, do I also need to do something else for the game to work? (changing command lines?)

And other roms will still work properly when two cores are installed?

It also works on the bsnes emulator.

Couldn't get it to work, but I should point out I don't have ftp or anything, I'm just basic haichi. So I'm good for the moment, after I finish FF6 I'll be ready for some more(and I have breath of fire w2, but those random encounters are just too much, but I've only made it to the coliseum )

.

Yes. This has been asked and answered many times in this thread. See if you can search for it. You either modify the command line to specifically load with that core, or you enter the Retroarch's options (Start+Select) and do it from there.

Last Bible 3 would be worth buying/dumping because there is a translation being worked on by the same people who did Tengai Makyo Zero

Not saying the translation will play well with Canoe but all the ones I've tried have so far so there's no reason to think otherwise at this point

Just send another code to ThorHammerstein but since Rudras is already covered I have no big wish for the moment.

So feel free to pick from the list whatever seems most urgent.

So I'm in the middle of Last Bible III, added your code Cron, but, I'm just facilitating this stuff... I'm certainly by no means qualified to make a priority choice.
I wish someone who knows the behind the Canoe would chime in.

My priorities different from normal priorities. I just want to see everything dumped and cataloged equally. Most people have a game preference like Marvelous was, and Rudras is probably for most now.

That said, the ones that are most useful to my database cataloging efforts are:
  • Last Bible III (J-NTSC)
  • Super Chinese World (J-NTSC)
  • Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut (J-NTSC)
  • Wrecking Crew '98 (J-NTSC)
  • Pop'n TwinBee Rainbow Bell Adventures (J-NTSC)
  • Demon's Blazon: Makaimura Monsho-hen (J-NTSC)
Any of those would lead to a Preset ID I couldn't guess, and a potential new .cnp for sfrom Tools database.

Gotcha. :)
So what about a main PM for this project?
Also, just finished up with Last Bible III.
I have Cron 's code for the next title... I guess Super Chinese World if I'm just going down the list.

Last Bible III:
  • Preset ID: 0x1136
  • VC Patches: None
EDIT:

Interesting enough, probably to just me. But that's the exact ID I had guessed in a private document! lol =)

Got my SNES Classic hacked finally with a lot of choice games and really nice borders thanks to this thread. Got the ugly blur filter turned off with crisp scanlines on all screen modes, looks soooooo good especially pixel perfect + scanlines which = bliss. Just need to get the games organized into folders and add a few key games I'm still missing like Terranigma. Otherwise everything is working really well except I am getting this error when I power off:
