Looks like no Ex-raid passes being handed out today.

I lucked out on the Android downtime thing. 10 minutes after it was back up, a 100% Aron spawned nearby, just managed to catch it before the weather change as well.

Yeah, Niantic be trolling. Someone got a pass in Australia when they were spending their holiday there and nowhere else where they raided a shit ton. What the fuck is wrong with the algorithm?

Yep seeing posts saying they haven't done a raid since summer at the EX gym. Another guy got one for a gym 40 minutes away at a gym he has never raided at but he did have the badge from spinning it.

Still nothing for me lol

I don't know how to feel about this. An EX raid for the weekend means that I don't have an excuse to sit this one out.

But I don't think I ever raided at this location once. What the hell is going on?

I live in Illinois and my partner and I just got an EX Raid for Saturday at a gym in the next town that I'm not sure we've ever raided at (but battled at/spun fairly often). Glad it's coming up quick as I'm leaving for spring training on Wednesday.

Spinning the gym seems to possibly be the only requirement. Someone I frequently raid with is emphatic that he's never been to the gym he got an invite for.

Got my 3rd pass now, on a Gym that had an Ex-raid triggered before, and I did raid on recenlty a few times. So nothing out of the ordinary here.

Yeah, this EX Raid wave is really weird.

I only dropped my Pokemon at this gym and lasted a day. But whatevs! I'll take any chance I'll get.

very very random. people are confused as hell around me.
my invite is at a ferry terminal, 40min away. didn't raid, just battled and defended as i waited for the ferry. gym is behind a pay wall.... but i might be able to reach it from the pedestrian gate. gonna see if other people who got the invite will be going as i'm not super keen to get out there just for a virtual pet. i'd be pissed if this was my first.

other people have gotten their invites for months ago, in places hours away. like in oregon, when he went there for the solar eclipse. or out of state visit from last summer.

update: report in chat group that people got invites without even having a badge for that gym...

Got an Ex-Raid pass I did a month ago outside outside of town at 10:30 am this Saturday... wtf Niantic

I got a pass for a gym I've never raided as well. But I'm not about to complain.

Well fuck, still nothing for me. Glad they're mixing up the EX gyms though.

Word on the street is that this is because it's Mewtwo's birthday today.

Yesterday's ex wave has sent my local discord into a frenzy of bewilderment and anger as the gyms that were chosen are practically outside the city.

We are all basically praying that there is a 2nd wave on Thursday otherwise everything we have learned so far about ex distribution and strategies go out the window.

Yeah there's general resentment and anger here from those who didn't get passes, because it's bullshit. But also, others are angry that they basically cracked the code and all that hard work might be gone. Make no mistake, I am sure Niantic has someone monitoring that stuff. Would be so shitty if they changed things up just to spite those who figured it out.

Should have given a pass to everyone for Mewtwo's birthday.

You're not wrong Oxx. How they've handled it makes zero sense.

Yeah, I have no doubt Niantic will eventually give all players a chance to catch Mewtwo, maybe through their new quest system, but in the meantime it's frustrating to players who want a chance at the most exclusive Pokemon in the game but haven't been lucky enough.

So, if you can't make it, you hope to get in on the next wave. This more expansive net they've cast with the EX Raid invites means you are bound to get one soon that is close to you.

Gutshot, I think people are upset with the idea that it's still basically random. If the rules were clearly defined, it wouldn't be an issue. But everything feels scattershot and for folks who have been trying to trigger passes for a long time now and are met with continued failure, I can see being kind of upset about the lack of transparency. Like, who knows if what they did this time is because of Mewtwo's birthday or not? Only Niantic. Because they don't communicate.

It's just going to invite more spoofing.

Wish they were more forthright about upcoming things. Surely some info on Valentine's Day should be shared by now.. they could stand to take some suggestions from Fire Emblem Heroes who gives a very clearly look at the coming weeks and when events will happen.

Yeah, it is random. Which is why I resolved not to care about it way back when it first started. Getting so invested in it is just going to lead to salt because of the very nature of the system. Just play the game and when you get an invite, awesome. I guess some people can't help but throw themselves full on into it though.

I agree that the system, as it is, should probably be scrapped or completely reworked. But as long as this is what we've got, there really is no use trying to worry about when or how you'll get an invite.

It is possible they want to do that with the new news 'feature' (if you have updated and not read the news there is a red dot next to your main pokeball at the bottom) - however for last year the Valentines day started on the 8th and they announced it on the 8th (so possibly some info tomorrow)

No EX pass for me.

My nearest Pokestop has turned into a gym. And a brand new stop has appeared nearby.

Hell will freeze over before i get anythign 100% out of any sort of raid, let alone a legendary one.

I'm not going to lie, I'd be willing to drive like 2 hours out of town to an EX raid on the weekend. I'd just make a day of it and find something else to do around there.

MrsBS and I both got EX passes for a gym a couple thousand kilometres away which we were at once two months ago over Christmas when we visited family. Boo.

Was really hoping to be on the receiving end of that bug. Now I have to do it the legitimate way...wish sponsored gyms were easier for me to get to.

So we should hopefully hear about the Valentines event tomorrow. Apparently it was announced and began on the 8th last year.

if the changes they made to the S2 cells are confirmed or closely resembling to be S2 Lvl 10 cells, then its game over for very densely populated areas as one S2 Lvl 10 cell encompasses a MASSIVE area.

I was on the receiving end of the EX pass bug and got my first one, so thanks Niantic!

Swapped shifts with another guy at work so I can make it. Who knows if I'll ever get another invite, too many other things in life to even worry about using my free raid pass most days.

In other news I caught 100% level 24 and 93% level 35 Machop's today, thanks cloudy weather!

All they have to do is allow more than one ex raid at a time for a single cell.

I don't buy their apology. I believe they did it to lure people back and encourage play before they add Quests which will have a pay to win element and are backpedalling

their bugs are so obvious and amateurish. for a company making so much money on the game, can't they throw more resources at qa before shipping product??
