LOL just making a shitty a-hole joke you cool, it's V and honestly most people think it's b until they're told it's not so it's a pretty common question.

It's all good. It was an honest question because since b and v sound the same in Spanish, some newer words and slang don't have clear rules. Cebiche and ceviche come to mind. :)

I just write "wey" cause it's easier and güey looks dorky as hell.

And vato also looks weird to me, but I guess that's the right one, because it might come from "novato".

Whatever.

Yeah it can suck, since soft 'b' and soft 'v' sound damn near identical.

This is basically me, how offensive would it be if I were to ask someone making my food to hold the cilantro?

If I think about it, about offensive as it is in the US. So largely a non-issue as long as you're not a jerk about it.

Banda is from north.

If heis from CDMX he must love cumbias though.
Just told him this. He does lol

I'm from the city, but i don't worship the US culture (specially at this moment) and i only feel embarrassed by the people who loves Narco culture.

I still think that most of banda is just not good music, there are some really good like Cardenales de Nuevo Leon. Obviously this is an opinion but i don't think that kind of music is cool.
I wish I met more people who share that opinion besides my dad. He doesn't hate ALL of banda just most of it because he says most of it has to do with narco shit and it turns him off from it.

About the US culture worship, is that really a thing in Mexico like it is with Japan having a fascination with European culture?
This is like expecting some new York city kid to love country music, not surprising at all
I thought it was interesting :( I'm not familiar with musical culture in Mexico

This is not banda, dude, take it back or you're gone from my daily carne asada. :P

I'm with you with the banda hatred though, I can't fucking stand hearing El Chapo de Sinaloa, El Kommander and Gerardo Ortiz being called singers or musicians, it's a damn insult.
OI NOMÁS! :3
My dad laughed at this. He HATES El Chapo de Sinaloa.

Oi nomas indeed. And agree, banda is garbage doesn't matter your social class. Also agree with you there, calling those musicians is an insult.

Now, how 'bout some Baron de Apodaca?

Cómo sabías que soy de ese municipio? Jajajaja

Since we're showing off Apodaca talent, how about this.

Primera Fila version with Julieta Venegas is pretty fucking amazing too.

My dad laughed at this. He HATES El Chapo de Sinaloa.
Your dad is great, fuck that guy.

If you want to get to your feet wet in Mexican Culture you could always come down to El Paso.

In accents Mexico is a lot like the US in that you guys have a southern drawel or the New Yorker in that in my experience other Mexicans can tell where my Spanish is from.

It's pretty standard for language that if you don't live it; immerse yourself in it, you don't really know it. As for fast talking I guarantee you do it too for English if your fluent in the language. Spanish is a "soft" spoken language so it's easier to speak faster, less hard sounds.
For sure, we slur English badly in the US. Especially certain regions. I just need to practice and not worry about sounding stupid. At least I'm trying, right?

Man who doesn't like cilantro? And guacamole? Man. Nothing like some eggs with some sliced avocado on top? Now I'm hungry.

Short answer, everything. A lot of the food in my area is spicy and the deserts are sweet so if that matches your palate we have lots to choose from.

Pretty much, people are generally nice enough that if they see that you're trying they're not going to give you a hard time. You might get a little bit of a hard time if you look Mexican but even then it's really nothing.

In fact I'm making refried beans right now.

Thanks! I'll look into that. Btw, how easy or hard is it to get around Mexico City? Moms has trouble walking long distances.
Public transportation in CDMX is pretty good. The Metro (subway) is very efficient. But I suggest you to just use Uber. Pretty cheap and safe. Don't use taxis. They overcharge foreigners and some of them are very shady.

The subway system is very convenient and insanely cheap - but it can be a bit confusing. I recommend using Uber, it's not that expensive in Mexico.

Btw banda sucks ass ewww. I'll never forgive Germany for infecting Mexico with banda.
