Kinda surprised that they expressed mild disappointment at the 'twist' considering Mike jokingly hoped for it in the mid-season recap. I hope they stick with the seasonal reviews of the show.
As far as that BP Half in the Bag, it wasn't unreasonable, obnoxious, and overly cynical like the YMS review.
YMS's whole thing is being unreasonable and obnoxious, that's the shtick. That and endorsing zoophilia I guess :O

I've really gone off YMS lately. Even small things like overly long cuts from films in his Best of videos have started to annoy me. I want your opinion of the movie, not a 90 second scene from the movie without any context.

I suppose it didn't help he rated Anomalisa #1 for 2015 and I watched it and found it no where near as smart as it thinks it is. Some of the dialogue is so hokey it induced cringing, and I'm someone who loves cheese..

Nice to see Mike finally give DS9 some love.

He seems to bring up Voyager in every Half in the Bag

Who the fuck is YMS ?

I haven't had time to watch the vid yet. Does Rich mention what made him pick the rest of the season ?

Ahhhh.

I don't know who Derek Savage is either.

He's a weird guy who made an extremely bizarre, so-bad-it's-good kid's movie called "Cool Cat Saves the Kids". Internet reviewers latched onto it, took it too far (imo) and Savage used YouTube's copyright system to pull their reviews, which angered a lot of people since the reviews would be covered under Fair Use. YMS wasn't overly shitty in his review, but he was one of the first folks to review the movie, so I kind of associate him with the whole ordeal.

Ohhhh. That film. I've seen that.

Also thanks for telling me.

I kinda want to rewatch TNG and finish DS9 because of the RLM Discovery recap. I think I stopped watching DS9 when it was on the air right before the Dominion War.

If you want to go through TNG again, while also picking up DS9.

You should check out this cool viewing order. My friends and i are using it, and it's dead fun. (although you will have to watch Voyager too)

Do I want to hear them bitch about Discovery for 40 minutes?

Why not.

Oh sweet, someone uploaded "Surviving Edged Weapons - Re-Enactments Only" on Youtube. I can finally share the joy to my friends without having to worry about the autopsy photos.

Anytime!

He's not a bad reviewer. He's clearly knowledgeable and has a good grasp on what separates a good film from a bad one. I'm just not a fan of his humor or his attitude.

That pretty much nails it. He has some interesting insights but the presentation is just so 'YouTuber-y' that it's tough to stomach.

Just want to delurk here to say that Mike criticized or at least questioned his beloved Star Trek for historically playing it safe and dragging its feet on diversity in the mid-season Discovery review. Not exactly something I'd expect an alt-right persecuted nerd to say (I realize most people here aren't going that far).

Also, as a $2 Patreon supporter the subscriber comments (probably more representative of their core audience than Youtube comments) there on Black Panther are generally unobjectionable and mostly focused on the film's cinematic qualities.

Not to mention the Plinkett Ghostbusters review mentions that he was a fan of the idea of a female cast, and singled out Leslie Jones (the biggest target for alt-right shitbirds) as the best performer of the bunch.

Fuck I forgot about the YMS guy.
I binged watched a lot of his early videos when he first started, mostly because I hate the walking dead and wanted to justify that hate.

Then I stopped caring, and then he showed up a few years later with something about being sexually attracted to dogs?????

Anyway, RLM is pretty alright. Sometimes.

I was a hater of the sprite PreRecs and I do not apologize.

Game seems neat, but I've had my fill of super frustrating games, especially ones where RNG is a big factor. I'll play it when it winds up in some Humble Bundle in a few years.

Oh weird, I was just playing this game.
Do they like it?
Jack is currently addicted. Rich initially thought it was fun, but the difficulty is killing him and he feels like he's hit a wall and can't improve his game anymore than he already has. He's kind of done with it. Jack has pushed on farther than Rich and he's just barely on the edge of what the game expects from a player, and he doesn't want to stop.

Both of them agree that the final game (since this is early access) will probably add even more challenge. That would make Rich extra-done with the game, and Jack concedes that it could break him if the game stretches out past his limit. Both of them agree that the final version of the game should include an easy mode for weaker players, like how FTL did.

I uh.

I just watched Black Panther. A bit overhyped with that '#1 MOVIE ON ROTTEN TOMATOES!". Still enjoyable though. But when i watched their review and they said that the street in Wakanda was the same one as the street in Korea I didn't want to believe, but it's the only thing I thought about.

The movie was definitely made on the cheaper end. Next one should be avengers level budget.

definitely a bit overhyped. i thought the lead was wooden. would have preferred if killmonger came legit black panther

We've seen the last few pages how diehards respond to capital P "Problematic" stuff (i.e. the egregious and blatant and undeniable stuff), so I'll ignore some of the smaller "problematic" stuff in this review, but the editing and sound in this HitB for Black Panther felt really off, particularly the first 10-ish minutes. It took me a little bit to get into the rhythm of this review, which is very much an oddity. Usually Jay is the more consistent editor, to me at least, so I was surprised he edited it.

And, for anyone who cares, the latest episode of Still Processing, with Jenna Wortham and Wesley Morris (fifth and only (I think) AA film critic to win the Pulitzer for Criticism) did a podcast on Black Panther with Ta-Nehisi Coates. They talk about the movie, its hype relative to the culture, and the African and African-American stuff (that obviously they didn't pick up on).

I legit love the Black Cougar costume (the CG stuff they showed of Black Panther was like Toei-CG, the fuck?) and thought the little gimmick of him using toys was cool.

Seriously, I respect a practical suit like that.

Skiptastic sorry, it was to Brian who said he has seen how the fans in the last few pages react to problematic opinions of theirs unless I'm misreading. And if it was supposed to be a comment on how we as a community handle their opinions it's a bit unfair that just because some of us aren't up in arms about statements they've made it doesn't mean we react badly.
