Anyone have a narrow billy bookcase? Trying to figure out how much it will restrict what I put in it. I think the internal width is about 38cm. I have a wide one but I want another for downstairs and I should limit myself to a narrower one

Hmmm, very little. You could stack a few modulars in one, but it's kind of an awkward size. You could fit 45 studs worth of stuff in there in terms of width and just above 32 studs in depth.

The only one I have, is a half-height one between two higher ones. It's good for putting Orthanc and Saturn V on, but very tall narrow sets like those are pretty uncommon.

I just cant get into the diner...something just doesnt do it for me and i loved every modular since my now wife(gf at the time) offered me my 1st modular the parisian restaurant a few years ago , took a bit of wallet hurt but i got up to date (even brought cinema and pet shop couple years ago) but there is something really off about the diner. I will probably get the old fishing store to make up for it this year in my modular street.

My holy grail is ninjago city and im saving every vip point i have for it...i will get there some day (110€ saved already)... i hope lol

Well, it's a completely different style of architecture. I currently have it separate but that's mostly because of space. I mean, in the 50's you would see buildings like this alongside older ones. It's just that today we've often demolished 50-60's architecture but preserved 1900-30's architecture.

Once we have a few years worth of 50's modulars Diner will feel right at home.

Well, a 1960 city had both 50/60 and 1900/30 buildings ;)

Different style, yes. I wouldn't put Diner alongside Parisian Restaurant, but the main issue is more US/EU differences. I've yet to build the diner, but I think it should go well with Palace Cinema.

About Ninjago City, beside being a sticker fest, which is really awful at this price, it's a great piece. Was lucky enough* to be able to get it with points (alongside a discount for crushed box)

* well, it's relative, I've spent far too much to get that many points to begin with :(

There's probably enough modulars to make a gradient of styles if you have the right one. DIner probably looks good next to Cinema. The townhouses look fine next to most things. Pet shop stuck in the middle probably works as a transition zone.

I think Detective Office works well near the Diner, too. Seems US-ish to me, and not clashing with a 50s style.

I'm realizing that it might be more economical for me to invert one of my existing corner buildings to get an inside corner for a modular street than to start from scratch....gonna have to start keeping an eye out for sets that work as parts packs either way.

yeah, a noir story totally works for my brain as either pre-war or post-war.

Ok so it's time to Bat-Off!

Wow, it's the elusive Saturn V of Pisa in the background!

Say, we are doing another building contest, right PhoncipleBone ? I just like the challenge, and could care less about prizes, although I do hope we bump it up to a $20 set though

Also saw the new creator biplane, pretty cool. Although I do know i have to get the pirate coaster set. So many things you can do with a rail assembly. Also saw a lego dimensions mission impossible pack for 4 bucks so I grabbed it today at Walmart. Only one on sale though

We've been talking on the discord about maybe mini mechs. We gotta find some good sets that aren't retiring soon and is like $10-20 for a good amount of parts

It'd be happy to do some research and join in on the discussion after I finish an essay assignment I'm working on. Can I join the discord? If so don't send me the link till later it'll be a few hours before I can respond

I would love a link to the discord as well if its open to join.

Yesterday I had to have my Target go to the back to get the new Lego City hotdog stand polybags that are being put out in the US for Easter. They were still setting up Easter stuff and just hadnt put them out yet. I grabbed a few for my future park I want to integrate into my city.

Is this discord thing the reason this thread feels so unloved? With LegoGAF if I was offline for a couple of days when I came back there would be a few pages to catch up on. With LegoEra I will have missed only 3 or 4 posts :(

Anyway while I am posting I have a question - I recently picked up the new Flash/Reverse Flash set, but I'm a bit miffed about the thin printing on the minifigs - especially as this is my first and only Flash minifig. Is there an earlier version of his head out there that had decent printing that I could Bricklink? Or has he always had a pink face?

oh wow i was gonna say "i'll go check my flash figure" but then i realized i don't think i ever got one. i passed on the riddler set, the gorilla grodd set, the JL movie set... i was all ready to assume my bad spending habits had gotten me the whole justice league by now, but I guess they haven't.

he's probably in one of those tiny racer sets, maybe that's a diff head print?

Detective's Office, Assembly Square, Brick Bank or Parisian Restaurant?

I know I asked a similar question but I've since created a list of my favourites to go alongside my first new modular, the Diner.

Thanks :D

Why is everyone going on about inverting a corner? If you need an inside corner, put three corner buildings there. Boom, inside corner with pedestrian streets.

Go with the oldest one and most likely to retire this year. And by coincidence it is the best one too. Parisian Restaurant.

Wouldn't that just be a larger outside corner? Trying to think how that makes an inside corner with the fronts facing out and allowing a sidewalk.
Well, his solution works (an outside corner can work as an inside corner if the adjacent modulars are outside corners, it just create narrow alleys) but I fear it'll be a bit cramped at best.

Though I wonder why so many people need inside corners, indeed. That create interesting block shapes, but it's a lot of bricks used for something mostly hidden. It would be interesting to see what kind of town map people have in mind.

When I get better pictures, I will upload the inside corner MOC I made on here.

EDIT: And I think you have already seen it elsewhere too.

I just wanted to make an inside corner to open up options. Just something different.

I like inside corners, and yours is lovely (if it's the one I'm thinking about... though I think it's far more interesting as an outside one)

No problem with people designing those. I just wonder about the "need"...

Because I want a particular thing to go in a one-building space on my Lego table. The way my table is positioned, the three-corners-with-alleyways would still mean never seeing two full walls of bricks in the small alleys.

It's also just kind of what I want to MOC.

Also I only have two corners right now.

So, sump pump failed yesterday and we have been having epic rains, ironically the part of the basement that flooded a bit was where I had my custom Orthanc being expanded. Damn Ents got in my sump pump i guess. Fortunately I caught it pretty quickly so only part of the basement flooded (of course it was the part with all the boxes of Orthanc and stuff) so not much was damaged other than transporting boxes and some boxes of old magazines that I haven't looked at for years. Also half of the boxes I've been stockpiling for the move into the house we are building -.-;

Bought some Lego Batman Movie Wave 2 mystery bags on impulse yesterday while shopping for groceries. Didn't really feel the bags, just grabbed a handful thinking there was no way I'm standing here in the hometown grocery store feeling up toy bags.

First bag... Bat-Merch Batgirl! (...)

Second bag... Disco Harley! (...)

Third bag... Black Vulcan! (Heck yeah! :D)

Fourth bag... Black Canary! (Heck yeah! :D)

Fifth bag... Disco Harley. (Nooooooooo!)

I've always been curious how everyone deals with trying to collect complete mini fig waves.

My first set I completed was the Disney wave to complement the castle. I stayed in the aisle for at least an hour without finishing the set, so I took what I could and ended up returning several times throughout the week to finish. Having store employees come by the aisle to "check inventory" on other items definitely didn't make me feel any better standing there feeling up the bags, haha.

Yep, although more of the old-time regulars have been posting more here lately. However, sales and news stuff isn't being carried over from Discord to here as much. Some other new posters picked up the slack a bit, but I think Ghostmind was the most consistent in the older threads with posting photos of new sets. Makes you appreciate the efforts of a few posters, once they are "gone".

Sorry to hear that. I lived in Chicago before and know the pains of flooding due to sump pump issues. Some things I've learned over the years are having a backup sump pump, storing raised on shelving or blocks, and having a backup generator in case of power outage during thunderstorms and rain.

Try Bricklink. For the less popular figures, they sometime sell cheaper than MSRP, On the flipside, the more popular figures carry a higher premium, but usually it's not too bad while the supply is high. The only thing is shipping costs will add up if you buy from more than 1 seller.

I guess I've become oblivious to employess and customers over the years. For most large retailers (especially LEGO store) such as Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and Target, employees should already be aware of weird adult LEGO CMF bag feelers so don't even worry about it.

The calendar is up on the Lego stores page. Nothing super exciting next month, there's a Zane pod, an Easter Bunny minifig and a duplo numbers set.

Parisian Restaurant is on the way, and another modular is in the cards for next month.

It won't be the Diner, I like it the least of the four remaining plus it's the newest so I should have the most time to get around to it. Leaning toward Assembly Square, with Detective's Office as the backup if the budget disagrees. Brick Bank would be a nice corner to go opposite from the cinema but I like the other two more.
