Is there a calculator for if affinity or attack increase is the better augment for a given weapon? I got a Hero stone for swords, and I'm torn between the 10% affinity or +17 Attack on my Divine Slasher. I'm of the impression that affinity is better in most cases.

All attack augments are +5 true raw damage. 10% affinity is 2.5% damage boost. The affinity is better in nearly every single case, except ones like you are already at 100% affinity

- Allow us to "buy" investigations instead of searching for them. It makes no sense why Nerg tracks would tell us about another monster anyway
This is a really good idea. Gives you something to do with those infinite resource points and would works well with the current loop. And yeah, monster becoming too easy to fell starts being a real problem, so multiple difficulty tiers is a must for a game like this, and it's a shame because other games in the series played with this a little already

Here's my solution for the endgame investigation problem - give us an Elder Melder-style system where we can "build" investigations by picking a reward (that will be supplemented by the system with some bronze/silver/gold slots) with a set number of "points". Then we pick a region and add modifiers (monsters, level, # of faints, time limit) to hit that point threshold. Add a little RNG for random rewards/risks and you've got something people can dig into forever.

Capcom, just PM me and I'll send you my address for the check.

I can't really think of any weapon that would prefer the measly +5 attack over the +10% affinity. Even with negative affinity weapons, it just makes you less likely to do less damage.

Actually, maybe CB? Just for more impact phial damage. But realistically how much are you getting out of +5 raw?

I would love this, unfortunately I don't think it would make much thematic sense. Maybe something you do at the investigation/bounty desk instead?

I'm also surprised the Gun Lance is so unpopular. It's a fucking siege cannon with a bayonet stuck on it!

Getting so done with the wind drakes dropping you off in a random location. I know it's a high rank legacy thing, and maybe it shook things up in old games but it has no place in this one given the way it's designed.

Firstly, the game insists on starting you in the furthest possible location from the canteen when you return from a quest for some arcane reason. As a result it's more convenient to eat at camp. Fine. But when you get dumped half way there and can't fast travel because you're "in combat" because some random squirrel somewhere is upset at you and will continue to be 3 zones later, it grates on ya. Why does it take so long for that to wear off anyway? I swear you have to travel half the map. Arggh

I think I'm done with MH:W for now. I really wanted to do all the optional quests but I don't want to figure out how to unlock the rest of 9*. I'm getting pretty jaded already. Oh well as long as I did the main ones. I pretty much did everything I wanted to do. HR100, 500 kills, and maxed out every LS tree. If anyone knows how much quests I'm missing let me know what they are so I can do them later when I return.

You're missing only 2 quests. One called New World Sky, New world Flower which is tempered Azure Rathalos and Pink Rathian in the special arena and Showdown: The Muck and the Mud against tempered Barroth and Rado in the special arena. Both are done to unlock mantles and basically just require fighting a certain amount of unique tempered monsters from tiers 1 and 2 respectively.

Im finding lots of Hunting Horn Player now that i reached HR100. Seems like ppl rather play with other weapons untill they reach the endgame, then some go for HH to buff even more the already maxed upgraded ppl.

So the dead drake that you see falling in the rotten vale cutscene which can be found in the zone itself and that odogaron drags back to his lair to eat fell out if the sky and landed on me while I was fighting odogaron. Funniest shit I've seen. I was laughing so hard I forgot to save the video.

Hey guys, quick question... I'm at hr 39 with the lance and I have gotten curious to the charge blade. What's some recommendations for learning it? Going back and doing some low level investigations ? I've pretty much maxed out all the weapons for the lance but I want to do some offense and still have that defense that a shield provides.

damn the top 3 is exactly my top most used weapons lol #partoftheproblem

though i've been switching things up lately with the light bowgun and the sword/shield. both are definitely fun to use.

It's not really surprising people prefer the most mobile weapons for the most part. They just feel better in terms of the way the game controls, especially if you're coming from character action games or Bloodborne.

When I started the game bow was around 7ish, now its 2, haha. Its so fun, Ive always wanted to use bow in the old MoHun games, but I never liked it.

Ive got all the bows now though, so its probably time to go back to my Switch Axe.

just got an elderseal deco, I'm kinda dissapointed it doesn't add elderseal to any weapon

I don't think you're missing out on much.

I tried fighting a bunch of Elder Dragons with a High Elderseal Deco and on an Elderseal Weapon and my Palico also using an Elderseal weapon, and my non-empirical assessment would be that it does jack shit.

Man scout flies disappearing when you can aggroed by something is some bull shit. Especially when there's nothing even within eyesight of you and there hasnt been for a solid 60 seconds.

oh man, I beat the game! 70 hours, and 100% bow only!!!

ugh, I should use a different weapon, but I'm so used to keeping my distance after 70 hrs that I wouldnt even know how to get close with a melee weapon >_<

I want to learn towards a gimmicky weapon, like the lance that's also a gun, or the sword that's also a axe, or the other axe that's also a sword? There are 2 transformable swords?

So while I've been running a Legiana/Kirin Armor set for the luck and capture master, I just discovered that doing the Arena Quests can offer "Great Luck." Don't know the best way to get Ace Hunter Coins, but definitely going to work on getting the armor set for it before continuing to farm for materials.

I think I found a use for a challenger mantle. Make them chase you all over the map. Preferably towards a boulder but if they chase you long enough they leave lots of tracks. So great for farming temper elder dragon.

Ok, so, I've been using the insect glaive... but I don't exactly understand what is causing the switch between the movesets? I assume it has something to do with the stuff the insect collects

I think I'm starting to hit a wall. This is my first Monster Hunter, and I've hit High Rank. I "get it". I'm not great, even 40 hours in, but I get it. Except:

Most of my play time I have never had the parts to really upgrade anything. I'm using the same armor and only update it when I THINK I have enough pieces to upgrade it, and even then, armor is confusing. Am I supposed to be mixing sets to get an overall elemental coverage? Because that's what I'm doing.

Same with Weapons. Less so, because for the most part I know what pieces to go for (and the internet can help with the ones I don't). I switched from Dual Blades to Switch Axe after Diablos wrecked my shit time and time again,

I'm in the High Rank area, and all these Monsters are wrecking my shit. I get hit, for 60% of my health, stunned, and then combod to death over and over again. If I have the bad luck of getting hit seemingly once, I'm fucked. I'm slightly exaggerating, but so many hunts, solo and SOS have gotten fucked because I was climbing up to the monster and it poked me, at full health, at the top of vines and I'm dead for no reason.

Do I grind? Should I just grind? Does the Real Monster Hunter begin here?

The Charge Blade and the Switch Axe are gimmicky and a lot of fun indeed. The Gunlance really lacks in mobility imho.

Charge blade has a bit more versatility in the sense that you can also use it as a sword and shield. So it has better defensive capabilities.
