Just finished War in the Pocket. That was good shit. Most tight and consistent Gundam I've seen. Very well executed.

It's got the best "war is hell, unfair and ugly" message, which is fairly common to the majority of Gundam in theory but it's rarely presented so convincingly. Almost makes me feel guilty about liking the mecha designs involved.

Paneling this year's Gunpla Builders World Cup is going to be so difficult when you have submissions like this...

Wow. GBWC builds are always a beauty, but that's on another level. Love that crescent moon antenna What a nice touch!

I want to hopefully get on that level one day if I can overcome the inherent shakiness of my hands.

Since Discord was pretty pivotal in the ResetEra transition, do you guys think we should have a Discord server? We're not the most active OT or anything so it might not be that active.

No I meant what I said. The entirety of the CE is fucking awful.

Jokes aside, C.E. 73 STARGAZER is the best thing to come out of CE. And yes, Astray as well.

We already have one that was set up during The Collapse, actually. Yami is in charge of invites.

Glad to see the Gundam OT back. I've really fallen off making kits. Still have a Gusian Full City and the Freedom 2.0 in my backlog from earlier this year. I also need to finish season 2 of IBO.

This thread reminds me how much I need to get another gunpla kit. I somehow finished all of mine. I didn't think that was possible!

0080 War In The Pocket is a straight up masterpiece. Probably the best of the entire franchise for me, right up there with the original Mobile Suit Gundam.

Got to the final chunk Origin Vol9, will probably be able to finish it before the weekend. Char + horses = some of the more interesting scenes in Origin. <3

As far as Thunderbolt and a new Gundam TV series go though... I expect Thunderbolt S3 to be next year, but it'll only be announced at the end of this year after they're done marketing and releasing the Thunderbolt S2 movie in cinemas. There probably won't be a new Gundam TV series anytime soon. After IBO ended the staff moved back to Build Fighters. The next series might be more Build Fighters to follow up on the Battlogue stuff they're already doing. I don't there'll be anything brand new until late 2018 earliest.

So I watched The Origin V the other day after putting it off seemingly forever, after being reluctant to support Hulu with even a free trial account, but, yeah. It was alright.
I haven't read The Origin manga or any novelizations or anything, but I guess I always just assumed that Operation British and the Battle at Loum were the same event, so I went in expecting a large set-piece battle focused around preventing a giant space colony from hurdling toward the Earth. To say the least, that's not really what I got, and I can't help but be a little disappointed. Other than that, quality wise it's pretty good, but it also feels disingenuous to call it "EPISODE V: CLASH AT LOUM" when, spoilers, it's just... more blue balling the audience. That was honestly a little irritating, and felt like a retread on the ending of Episode IV.

Generally, I love the characters of both Ramba Ral and Dozle Zabi, and I'm a huge proponent of Gundam Dubs, but despite the other Origin dubs being fine-to-excellent, these two characters felt off, like their energy didn't match the animation, or the energy of their characters later in the timeline, though I'm sure some of that could be attributed more to the characterization of these figures in The Origin as opposed to the actual performances themselves.

I also find that what I originally loved about The Origin, namely a big focus on the political machinations of Zeon, has become a little irritating? These little tastes of what will eventually become The White Base crew are so good that I just want to keep watching more of them, but their screentime is sparse. I guess this makes sense, given that Gundam 0079 is all about these characters, but I love seeing the dynamic between the younger characters, like Hayato, Kai, Amuro, and Frau Baw before everything goes to shit.

In order of quality, excitement, intrigue, and overall entertainment, I'd rank the episodes as such:

III > IV = I > V > II

I guess Nozomi/Rightstuf haven't come out and said anything about G Gundam or 0080 BDs?

G Gundam's scheduled for sometime in 2018. 0080 hasn't been announced yet.
Oh great. I hope they can pick up the more recent releases in Japan as fast as possible, though the powers that be probably want to space that out. Hope we get G, 0080, and eventually X too.

My feelings on V were the opposite. It's one of my favorite pieces of Gundam media ever. Dozle's arc in the film is heartbreaking.

The 0080 BD is fucking BEAUTIFUL. And the bonus material in the limited box(jp) is really nice too.

I think the japanese blu-ray box for X was just announced a few months ago, so we probably won't get it until end of next year or 2019.

I really need to catch up on getting these blu-rays. I have every old Bandai DVD release (and also the 00 movie and the seven Unicorn OVAs on blu-ray) but from these new RightStuf blu-ray releases I've just got the original Gundam, and have Wing pre-ordered.
