Depends... if we're doing Williamsburg, we can hit up Commodore, Pies & Thighs, Sweet Chick.

If we want to just bounce around the city, there's Bobwhite, Root & Bone, Charles Pan Fried, Fuku/Ma Peche/Noodle Bar, Blue Ribbon, Sweet Chick... and that's just southern fried chicken.

The idea of dealing with Santa Con crowds 9 months early sounds unappealing to me. I feel like drinks would be overpriced on that day especially at damn near every Irish bar in the city.

Me being stingy, I'd rather get a six pack for less than 12 bucks, drink it in a public park (in paper bags/cups) or at home, and call that a happy St. Patty's Day.

Bridge and tunnel bros aren't coming into the city to get drink in Williamsburg. It'll be fine.

Where do you guys bring people who come to visit NYC without any idea of what they want to do or see? I was just thinking about this in the shower (shower thoughts)

The last time some relatives came I took them to Central Park, hit up the Natural History Museum, went through Columbus Circle, passed through Times Square and ended at the top of One World Trade. I've brought people to all the tourist spots I think, the Intrepid, the Circle Line for that cruise around Manhattan, the top of the rock, the MET, the Statue of Liberty, we even camped out once on the FDR for July 4th fireworks.

I've not brought anyone to to the brooklyn side of the bridge because it always seems just a bit too far out of the way though. I rarely go to the MoMa because modern art generally isn't everyone's bag. I don't go to empire state because I think rockefeller has a better view. I think in the future I'll skip actually going to Liberty Island in favor of riding the staten island ferry back and forth since no one plans far ahead enough to actually get into the statue anyway. The one time I went off the tourist playbook was taking a stroll through the west village, one of my favorite neighborhoods, but they weren't prepared for the amount of walking we did and characterized it as attempted murder. Also, I have no idea how you actually get into the Oculus.

What else is there to do? Where should we eat? (to be fair many people actually have a better idea of where they want to eat than I do)

Can anybody here give me thoughts on Bushwick! What are price ranges for 1br? I am a programmer and does photography on the side. Will I have a great time there or should I look at other places in Brooklyn to live?

Depends entirely on what you can afford.

Got splashed and soaked up to the waist by a car that decided to speed through a puddle.

Had to stop at the Gap and pick up some new pants before work.

I wasn't even standing on the street corner, I was walking by it and I got soaked. This weather, ugh.

I just came back from NYC. I've been there 2 other times and I'm looking at grad school in the city.

Battery Park was extremely pleasant to walk through. I always thought if I moved to NYC I would want to be on the Upper West Side but it felt too stuffy this visit for me.

Fried chicken? That's gonna depend on the neighborhood.

If you're at chains, Kennedy or Crown Fried Chicken are all pretty cheap and better than Popeyes IMO. Haven't had anything but mediocre shawarma, but it's not something I've sought out either.

I don't think New Yorkers are any more mean or rude than any other big city, I just think there are more people who openly relish being an asshole as some mark of a "true" New Yorker.
