See if you can't get that final level in Weakness Exploit. It's a huge boost to damage.
I'm assuming you have handicraft for white sharpness and protective polish / speed sharpening because the white is minuscule? It's just that those are a lot of skill points you could be putting elsewhere if you gave up on the white sharpness. Maybe run Nergi GS instead and enjoy a giant chunk of blue that basically never needs to be sharpened? Then use those skill points for other things you may want? Like crit eye, attack up, weakness exploit, earplugs, maximum might, challenger, or whatever.
As for focus...I personally think it's a trap for GS users now. On one hand you think "cool I can charge my attacks faster for more damage!" but I disagree. For one, you should really only be charging the true charge attack if you have the opportunity, and use the first two attacks to just get to true charge. And if you do that, the final charge is super short anyway. Even on downed monsters, focus does not let you land more charge attacks before they get back up, I tested it myself. Finally, the biggest issue I have with focus is that sometimes you don't want it to charge quickly. If you are anticipating a charge or roar you can hold your charge longer to tackle through it.
Tl;dr: Focus is not as good as it used to be for GS and frankly I feel like the points can be spent better elsewhere.
This game is ridiculous, I can't believe I haven't played anything but MHW since it came out.
Last year I'd be done like five games by now rofl
So there's a 3% chance an Elder Dragon drops a Hero Streamstone.
And like 12 weapon types, right? Can anyone calculate what the odds are to get one specific Hero Streamstone each kill?
This. So much this. Especially when you're duking it out with a pack of small monsters (Girros, Shamos) and you can't kill all 10+ of them fast enough to carve the ones you killed first. It makes no sense. Now that we've had some time to enjoy World and really appreciate the QoL improvements, it is of course time to start bugging Capcom about...
... making basic QoL of improvements.
I'll start: Capcom, why in god's name are corpses despawning so fucking aggressively?
It's not performance, because those two monsters were kicking the shit out of each other on the same screen before one of them died, so I know you don't need to despawn it to save on polycount.
It's not realism, because you aren't going to stand there and tell me a thirty ton dinosaur decayed to not-even-bones in two minutes.
It's not challenge, because you're going to give me rewards from the monster in the quest summary even if I never got a chance to carve it.
It's not cleanliness, because you're going to boot me out of this mission in 50 minutes max regardless, so it's not like I'm going to get to really clutter up the place.
Why you gotta be like this, Capcom?
Holy fuck hhahaha
Aloy's Bow seems decent for a Crit build. With 3 augments it can get to 50% affinity by itself, meaning 100% with Weakness Exploit 3. Not that you can't hit 100% with other bows, but this means you get to use other skills and aren't forced to use the Affinity Booster. Is Aloy's bow worth it? I'm tempted to craft it, but I already have a tobi-kadachi lightning bow that seems to have better stat and better coating support (Aloy's War Bow does lightning, but it needs to be unlocked with Free Elem? and no power coating?). 30% affinity is nice though.
I only have 1 Anjanath plate for some reason (and 1 gem so far too) and I think I'll spend it on upgrading my fire hammer instead... thoughts?
Good point. So many times when you see the icon for broken off material in the corner of your screen but you just can't locate it.This would actually be my second highest QoL priority.
Why is the broken off material glow color the least visible by far? Particularly on gray/white backgrounds (most of the important ones on Coral Highlands and Elder's Recess)?
Ninenty-nine times out of a hundred I'm more interested in being able to find materials than I am slinger ammo or trade-in items. Use the red glow, or the gold glow. Use literally anything but a white glow.
So there's a 3% chance an Elder Dragon drops a Hero Streamstone.
And like 12 weapon types, right? Can anyone calculate what the odds are to get one specific Hero Streamstone each kill?
Better but still terrible! Thanks man! It's a little better than this, but not by much, because each quest reward slot is rolled individually. In addition, there are actually only 7 Streamstones because each one is usable on 2 weapon types. I don't know any of the actual data here, so let's make some wild guesses:
Let's take a 4-reward investigation, and I'm going to assume that there's a 3% chance of a Hero Streamstone in each slot. That means there's a (3/7)%, or .43% chance of the streamstone you actually want. Rolled 4 times, that means you have about a 1.7% chance per 4-reward investigation.
Add grappling point bugs to the Ancient Forest. Fighting a flying monster in that place is an absolute slog having to climb around the place. My QoL wishlist (I'm sure many of those, maybe all, have been mentioned before):
Easily patchable, IMO:
- Skip cut scenes (and fuck that slow-walking section! I mean, really, Capcom?!). This is a no-brainer. Come on Capcom.
- Increase wishlist size.
- Make shiny drops more visible (my scoutflies detected one for Bazelgeuse in Elder Recess yesterday, white on white, never found it)
Probably needs more work than just a patch, but at least in future games:
- Revamp how investigations are generated and cleaned up, soooo much time wasted cleaning up that clutter
- Some HR monsters require expeditions or whatever to randomly run into the monsters to unlock their hunting quests. That's dumb, the monsters should all be more easily unlockable (had to do this for HR Jyura, HR Tobi and others)
- An in-game way to tell you the best way to obtain a part (break X + cap reward, or break X + body carve, tail carve, etc.). Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes, not so much (like gems or plates).
- A way to examine currently active Felyne Skills after eating. Sometimes I forget what I have active (unless I'm blind, I haven't found a way to see it)
I'm sure there could be more but that's what comes to mind right now.

I'll gladly trade you one of mine for a Magazine Jewel
Yep. Elder's Recess and Coral Highlands are the worst for this. I have no idea what they were thinking, because they clearly had the foresight to make dropped slinger ammo stand out.- Make shiny drops more visible (my scoutflies detected one for Bazelgeuse in Elder Recess yesterday, white on white, never found it)

Fuck Tempered Kirin. Took me several times solo, and with SOS's. None of that worked. So I looked online for a tactic, and found the LBG slicing ammo tactic. Yup, that worked. I feel so dirty after doing it. First time this has happened where I felt this way playing MHW. Am I a bad person?
you can view rewards in your hunter's notes on each monster but I believe it depends on your research levels
press start/options to bring up status and then press r2 twice to show the food skills
About an hour ago post-nerf. I have no idea how it was before, but it was still effective. I was also dropping Wyvern Bombs all over the place.I wonder if that was written pre- or post-nerf. I do see a lot of people recommend LBG (usually with Spread) or Greatsword for Kirin.
How much shit do you have on you?Another question: is there any way to turn Bazel off? Like before you even start the mission? I'm getting so tired of him showing up every time I fight a monster.
Ahhhh nice thanks!you can view rewards in your hunter's notes on each monster but I believe it depends on your research levels

10 pods, always. Why, is he actually attracted to that?
Use dung pods to get rid of a monster, hit Bazel with one and he'll go away.
Just use Pods, man. It's the only way. The only other way is to hunt Elder Dragons(where there are no other monsters on the field.
do some elder dragonsoh for fuck sake, this legiana temepered quest is 9stars, it doesnt count for the weekly SIGH
so you actually have to do stupid non tempered quests >_<

Yeah I've been using the pods to get rid of him. I just hoped there would be another way to eliminate the chance of him appearing entirely (aside from not engaging in monster hunts).Just use Pods, man. It's the only way. Just murder him. He's actually not that hard to kill and his gear is pree goodYeah I've been using the pods to get rid of him. I just hoped there would be another way to eliminate the chance of him appearing entirely (aside from not engaging in monster hunts).
Maybe I'm lucky, Stockholme syndrome will kick in soon and I'll actually learn to like him.
