I think they will cycle through the pre PSX/Saturn/N64 consoles before circling back around to the NES. People will be inclined to buy their items as soon as they are announced if all their old items are discontinued. It lends their products prestige. Right now a NT Mini or the original NT are holy grail items for many people and they will only become more rare in the wild as collectors become unwilling to part with them.
Probably true. So let's enjoy what we've got. It's awesome enough!

lol I bought a Super Mario RPG cart from eBay... I'm in California and it just got delivered.... in Missouri.

I broke down and bought a $70 Super Mario RPG cart that looks to be in really good condition. It also comes with a tattered instruction manual. The carts in the $50 to $60 range all looked to have front label issues.

True, if you see it from that angle. I'm still not sure if limiting the availability (of the Super Nt) right now would be the most profitable solution for them. I think there are still enough people interested in it and their numbers should rise if the Super NT becomes the still available alternative to a sold out NT mini.

But ah, probably just wishful thinking from my side. :)

I know what you mean but I think the main missing feature of the NT mini would be the cartridge slots. So I hope they'll make an inexpensive NT Mini and release the cores for the Super NT... at least I know I'd double dip. ;)

Haha, that's right of course! Since I don't own any NES cartridges I 'overlooked' the most valid point. :D

Well, that's what most people would want I presume. ;)
Since I still have a NES so I can play my carts for nostalgia or whatever when I like but, I think for playing them for convenience, a NES core on the Super NT with SD loading is much more ideal at this point.

Convenience and from my point of view also preservation. Although I was absolutely astonished that literally all of my old saves/carts are still fully functional on the Super Nt, that won't be the case for eternity.

How long had it been since you used those carts (with battery saves)?
While I haven't seen my SNES carts in a long time, my SFC carts (bought originally by me and used ones, too) have all been fine except Yoshi's Island. It is amazing how long something that shouldn't last this long is lasting this long for so many people.

Must have been my late youth. So probably mid to end ninties. Gosh, must be some twenty years. They were more or less tucked away since then. I did not even have to clean them. Amazing indeed.

If you have a game bit and a multi meter you can actually check the battery health. As long as you are north of 2 volts it should be good for awhile. If it's less than 2V I'd probably replace it.

From my original ones, we're definitely getting amazing use out of a single purchase. :D

This seems like a good UK power adapter - certainly fits the bill from what I've learned from this thread?

https://www.ebuyer.com/671059-duracell-single-usb-2-4a-uk-mains-charger-black-dracusb2-uk

Sure, that seems fine.
How come you aren't using the "travel" adapter on Amazon UK? It's cheaper and it'll allow you to use the "official" Analogue one.

The difficulty in getting the 32x to work seems like it would be a nightmare. It chucks out its own video which has to be synced with the Genesis video. Like the Genesis does the background and sound and the 32x does the other graphics, each game is different how they run. Watch some YouTube videos on how it works.i can't imagine emulating both systems and getting them synced over a different video standard would be easy.

All for a handful of games, almost all of which are inferior arcade ports of varying degrees.

You'd be better off emulating the arcade ports via MAME, although a lot of them demand a racing wheel and decent CPU power.

Seems like a lot of work for a little handful of games.

Balls. SD2SNES costs more than the system. I was interested in picking one up to save the wear and tear on my cartridges, but not at that price. I guess that's to be expected from such a niche product though.

I don't know, I'm always worried about bricking things if something doesn't pan out.
It's supposedly unbrickable.

I will admit thought after jailbreaking mine the Turrican games no longer work and I don't get the boot up intro anymore. I am going to flash official firmware and then re-flash jailbreak firmware this weekend to see if that fixes the issue. I think I'm the exception of what can go wrong and it still works just fine outside of those issues.

Well, no boot-up and the loss of the two on-board games really pales in comparison to what you get instead.
Besides, it's a cartridge system... I turned off the boot sequence as soon as I could. ;)

Is that something that I should have expected then? Are other users experiencing those issues. I am happy with what I get, no doubt, but if I can fix those issues then I will.

Thanks. That's what I figured. Also, if those two things aren't working than something else might not be working that I haven't discovered. I definitely need to do a re-flash.
NP. ;)
Though I'm sure that if you're dying for the intro, the two Turrican games, and don't care about SD loading or have an SD2SNES, then you won't need the JB.
I'd still stick with the JB firmware cuz it gives you much, much more than you've lost (if it is supposed to be like that).

I plan to reflash the JB firmware. I am just going to re-flash the official and then immediately re-flash the jailbreak.

The process of updating the official firmware is identical to the jailbreak and you will want to update the official sooner or later so might as well familiarize yourself with it. It is as simple as it gets, you copy a file on an SD card and turn on the system. It does the rest and you can flip between firmwares so no worries about going back.

The one case of a "bricked" system was someone who had a broken motherboard. And if you are the lucky 0.01% for that to happen you are going to want to know about it so you can get it replaced.

So.. my purple Super NT is scheduled to be delivered Friday. Problem is, I will be out of town until Sunday and I really don't want it sitting on my porch for 2 days. I tried to contact UPS to just hold it but they told me the sender put some kind of restriction on the package so this is not possible. Pretty damn frustrated right now because they told me the only way to hold it was contact the sender and have them remove the restriction but I have no idea how to get in touch with anyone at Analogue. So now there is a good chance my Super NT will either be ruined by rain or stolen.

It may not be much of a comfort, but the Super NT box is wrapped in shrinkwrap plastic inside of the shipping box, so while if it rains, the envelope including the folded Super Turrican SNES box may get wet, the system should be fine. If I were you I'd try to get a neighbor to pick up the package for you.

No signature required and they won't let me change the delivery location. Makes zero sense. UPS is unhelpful and Analogue is probably impossible to get a hold of anyone. I could ask my neighbors but I just moved and don't know them all that well yet. IDK. I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope no one steals it.

Yup, that was me. And it was definitely a motherboard issue as the system actually did die altogether recently. It won't even turn on anymore. Motherboard is at home waiting for me, but I'm away for work for two weeks.

I wonder if the system would have worked just fine if I left it at initial firmware.

How about you actually try? Contact them on twitter asking how to get a hold of someone that can help you.

Got my controllers today ( bought two old SNES controllers, still waiting for the 8bitdo SN30 in black ) and damn it's awesome!

Kudos to Squarepusher and Phil Fish for the Boot sequence... absolutely sublime!

I still have to update though. Did I understand correctly that I first have to update the console to 4.4 and then update again to JailBreak?

Their order confirmation emails are sent from their support email account so just reply to that email with your issue and they'll help you out. I've bought all three NTs and had to reach out to them for various reasons for all three and they've been super helpful every time.

They're awesome but I wish you could select which intros you see cause the intro with the pentagrams is more than a little... strange. I'm not religious and this product is niche enough that I think it's fine but it just feels really out of place. It's also the one that seems to come up the most whenever I show off the Super Nt to people and their reaction is pretty much always a confused sounding "huh?".

Good luck. Several people replied to their "shipping update" on twitter, and they haven't replied at all; meanwhile, they continue posting on twitter. /shrugs

I'd bet the majority of their tweets are on a schedule and a retweet is a single click action, different matter from managing a support queue.

My prediction on what Analogue has planned for the future.

Sega Genesis, Neo-Geo, PS1. In that order. TG-16 might happen sometime down the road as well.

I honesly don't see a reason why they would bother making FPGA handhelds. Just buy a GBA SP for your Gameboy needs. We just really needed proper clones of home consoles for HDTV use.
PS1 will never happen for the same reason a Sega CD would never happen. It requires a bios. Unless Sony works directly with Anaolgue, forget it.

I dunno I grabbed one for $45 from a local shop and it's damn near mint. eBay ones around $50 don't seem too bad either. The box I got later is a different story though.

Got mine a day earlier than expected. The whole entire thing, packaging and all, feels way more, uh, "premium" than I had even been led to believe. Feels like a brick, in the best sort of way.

Unfortunately I've gotta go to work, so I won't get a shot at messing with it til after midnight. Gotta update the firmware on the controllers and receivers anyway.

Now I just gotta hope my Super Famicom copies of SMW/SMW2/SMK from France and my copy of Zelda from Japan finally show up. Been a few weeks, dunno how long international shipping from France in particular takes.
