Slice is still usable, but not as your main shots for the following reason:
1) Low shots count (only 60 shots max with slashberries)
2) No dedicated skill to power it up

The reason why it still usable is that slice shot can still deal a hefty damage with straight offensive built (most likely you will have those skills if you used pierce or normal shots build). With Level 2 Crit Boost, each damage instance could deal 17 or 18 which means 85 to 90 in total. Not as big as the strongest pierce and normal shots, but considering that slice is fire and forget, it can be quite handy at times like Kirin's rage mode or cutting tail, its actually main purpose.

Slicing Shot was never meant to be a "main" type of ammo.

It was never in the other games.

I was missing a 6* quest for a long time. I didn't look them up, I just assumed I hadn't captured something. Today I went to the Research Base on a whim and found a quest giver which led to a whole chain of quests for canteen ingredients.

Most of the Special Arena quests are 7* and I have loads of those to finish.

My use for HBG is truly to break a head/face then go back to my LS or hammer. Would slice be the optimal ammo in this case?

Also Capcoms lack of tutorial for this weapon is rough. Why does my guy keep lying down????

I had an intresting progress
90 hrs in i finallly decided to fight Xeno.
Killed Xeno and my hunter rank Jumped up immediately to 29
Then I decided not to dilly daly and went straight for the tempered beetlejuice and instantly jumped my HR to 35. feels good man.

Is it weird if I only want to wear armor that isn't too bulky (Rathian belt piece) or stomach exposing on my female character? On top of that what do I need to kill for wing drake stuff so I can get the chest piece for the Tobi Kodachi armor? Also the boots for that set has a weird material as well. Why does the Tobi Kodachi have baller ass Palico clothing too?

Sonic Bombs (or Screamer Pods in this game) seem to work at all times with Diablos in this one.

Keep in mind, only a few spawn so you may have to finish and go back in. as far as my memory goes.

That's what I've been doing but they don't seem to appear every time I re enter and exit expedition and I'm beginning to hate running around looking for them >.<

That screen bouncing you get with the HH is starting to affect my cognitive perception ...

I'm having a weapon crisis and looking for suggestions. I've already built and played a good amount with:

IG - Nerg. My main setup for serious play.
Bow - Xeno. My alt weapon for serious stuff.
SnS - Legiana.
DB - Fire and Ice.
LS - Xeno(farming arena for Divine Slasher).
CB - Haven't made any endgame ones. It was my first main weapon and I got up through Nerg using mainly it. I liked the playstyle and will build endgame for it at some point.

I'd rather go with Elements that I don't have covered or Elementless(though Hazak and Nerg weapons are usually good) but I'm open to anything. I have my eye on Royal Burst Gun Lance and Hazak Lance. Switch Axe looks really fun too and I have no idea which ones are any good.

The Black Diablos Switch Axe is non-elemental and has the highest raw of any switch axe. It also reaches white sharpness with handicraft.

"Shadow Shades" head gear which can be farmed from event, is a better option if want to stack up with level1 gems, gives you 3 slots.
Desolation's Overture weapon lacks "Health Recovery L" tune, which can be used if you ran out of pots/shrooms or using it for an emergency.
if you're going to be a healer in this game, I'd recommend "Datura Horn III".

So I've been playing 4U, and I just unlocked the fancy spit that lets you cook 10 raw meat at a time.
Did I miss something, or is that not a thing in World? It'd be pretty useful.

I don't think it is but then again I haven't cooked a single meat besides the one required for the trophy. Got a shitton of rations since they aren't supply items anymore and barely need to eat for stamina in World.

Yeah, pretty much. Meat doesn't seem very useful anymore. I just use rations now.

Can you actually get anything good from the Triple Threat event? Jewel wise? I got an earplugs gem so far.

I found them pretty reliably while hunting for the rare fish in that cavern in Rotten Vale, where you drop meat for the palico gadget quest. Just keep going back there, won't take long to get the 10 you need.

I'm really hoping the first dlc comes with more than just the new monster, hopefully some tweaks to how the game works after the credits roll. I absolutely love this game but the end game grind is wearing on me. Once I hit HR 100 I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep playing regularly

The quest "A tingling taste" is not marked with the chat bubble that makes you know it's from a quest giver like others. Completing that one opens up a chain of quests from every npc at the research center. If you're late game when you find this you probably have most items for a couple of the delivery quests.

Made a complete Damascus set. Fun lil set for my Lance and Gunlance loadouts for their skills. Maxed out Defense Boost with the other skills. I hate the helm designs tho so I hide them when I use this set. Beta set has a really nice crimson shiny red color.

Easy farming for money with Bandit mantle, potential crowns and yes, lots of decos to drop.

Yeah I'm using the bandit mantle. What a crowns?

Also for decosis there a rough list of what can drop? The only lvl 3 I've had so far is the ear plugs. I don't have an ear plugs build though so it's not much use at lvl 1.

Only if you care about trophies. Crowns for monster sizes.

Basically if you kill or capture monsters that are smaller or bigger than normal, you'll gain a crown. Silver or Gold. For example, if you did the Aloy event, you fight a giant Anjanath which is an easy way to get a large gold crown for that monster.

I finished the Tempered Kirin quest on Friday, so I finally allowed myself to play a different game this weekend. I played a bit of Wolfenstein 2 on Sat and Sun, and now I think I'm almost done with it so I can hop back to MHW. It's so weird the difference in time to complete these games have. Well not really weird, but I haven't put this much consecutive time into a game in a long time that everything else feels like it pales in comparison.

I just finished the 3 elder dragon assignments. I'm surprised how easy they were compared to Nergigante. The dragons main tactics seem to be annoying rather than deadly. I'm sure they are trolling you by making you kill them before you can craft the armour that removes their annoying attack mechanic.
On the other hand, I did use nergigante weapons (IG and Lance). Maybe the elderseal on them is just that good that they didn't get off many dragon-powered super attacks. Nerg is still the hardest though, even using his own weapon against him.

The massive blue sharpness of the Nerg weapons is incredible though. Makes it really hard to go back to anything else, at least unless I rank them up to 7 or 8 and make handicraft gear (most of my weapons are rank 6 and only have small amounts of blue).

After ignoring the Longsword in this game for 180 hours I've decided to give it a whirl. Man, countering everything is so satisfying it's all I want to do with it.

Now about that Divine Slasher...what a fucking pain in the ass to get. You really need to hunt with others just to kill azure rathalos in the arena without making me want to kill myself.

Everyone is using Divine Slasher now. I got it much earlier purely for looks. Didn't really care about the stats but now it's way more popular because of GH's video. Altho I'm having way too much fun with the Gunlance atm to bother making a different LS. I am destroying monsters with it.

Look, it's not their fault that nonelemental boost is so stupidly good. All they needed to do with either get rid of it or buff elemental weapons, but noooooo.

You're right, they need to literally buff every weapon that isn't Diablos, Nergi or Xeno. A lot of the lesser used weapons need some love.

It's really not that bad as long as you find someone willing to abuse wall jumps with you. That's a kill every 5~6min.

Every time I get in there with a bow or hammer just for the other person to chill in the dead center of the room as far from a wall as possible, I die a little inside.

Yes you can, you can get decorations up to R7 but it's all luck based. But since the event can be completed in 3-4 minutes it's a really nice farming option. Even if you get shitty ones you can use them to meld for something different.

I aslo recommend using the guild cross arena armor set for extra rewards. I often get 5+ decs per run

I just realized in 200+ hours I haven't done any arena quests (the ones that limit your gear) except the Special Arenas(which don't limit gear) lol
