Is there anything similar for Megadrive/Genesis art?

Yes it is smaller, but looks great!

Mine fell out of the shelf and made that dent, but i'll survive.

This is our collection of gaming art books and guides (plus a couple of issues of Scroll magazine). The plain black book between Soejima and Tomb Raider is the Skyrim art book. That's the only one I had to go on ebay to buy as a birthday present for my wife. My two favorites are the Bloodborne guide, and to the left of it the Bayonetta guide which I got from Amazon UK not long before they became really hard to find and very expensive.

Cool! How is the Uncharted 4 book? I never really thought about the art of Uncharted games, but that game blew me away. Total visual tour de force.

Just made a thread for this

From Tank Girl to art-pop phenomenon Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett is one of the most energetic pop culture figures of the past 20 years. This TASCHEN edition, Hewlett's first major monograph, gathers more than 400 of his artworks, including strips, sketches, and works from his Saatchi Gallery show in 2015, to celebrate a polymath artist who refuses to rest on his laurels, or be pigeonholed in any particular practice.

So I meant to upload pics of the kirby artbook, but my phone's camera sucks. I really love it though I know some people would be dissapointed because there's no text or commentary, but that's just fine with me. It covers almost every game (unless I missed a section for obscurities like Tilt and Tumble) but still has little bit's for things as obscure as the anime or the Kirby cafe they did a while back. Just back to back art mostly in color and I really love it.

I guess while people are mentioning non-gaming artbooks I'll show off my collection which is has a lot of stuff unrelated to games. (not pictured is my giant Norman Rockwell artbook that can't fit on any of my shelves)

Thats really awesome, when I import books I usually prefer they don't have a ton of text unless its mostly translated. Mine comes in on Tuesday and I can't wait, I have always been a huge fan of the series (Mostly everything GBA era and before, Air Ride, and the DS/3DS games)

And I lucked out and got that Evangelion Der Mond art book for like $10 at a Half Price Books, the art is so huge and amazing in that thing, I absolutely love it.

Just a heads up, Dark Horse is translating the French language Yoshitaka Amano biography from 2015.

Looks like they maintaining the original printing format; the main book, a sketchbook, and the Blu-ray documentary. I bought the original and highly recommend it, despite not knowing French. No release date announced yet.

Here is a sample of the French DVD as well:

Not mine.
It still says: "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Same for me, wasn't the new release date November 3?
I also see they increased the price, it used to be 14 pounds.
I placed my order back in April, everything related to P5 involves lots of waiting.

is the Last Guardian an actual artbook or is "just" a collector's guide book with some artwork thrown in there?

Finally took some time to peruse through The Art of Overwatch Limited Edition (2017, 368 pages, 11.3x2.8x15.1 inches).

It's filled with a lot of pictures and tidbits of information. It covers everything from the characters (concept, skins, sprays, etc), to the stages, promotional art and even the animation shorts. I was disappointed with the lack of explanations regarding design choices that were made from concept to market.

I wouldn't recommend buying the Limited Edition knowing that the standard is available. Though if you think a clamshell outerbox, slipcover and two portofolios with three prints is worth $50 over MSRP, then get the LE. Otherwise, go for the standard.

Not sure if this is a sign of things to come for the U.S, but I just noticed that all 3 rare out of print Megaman Artbooks (Rockman.exe Battle Network, Megaman Zero, and Starforce) are all getting re-released in Japan on the 12th next month and on Amazon JP.

I put an preorder in for Zero and Starforce and the Battle Network book is already out with a few left in stock.

I remember the Udon rep claimed they would possibly be coming back, but at this point I'd rather blow the $30 and regret it later than vice versa since I'm a huge Megaman fan. And You have atleast a few weeks to cancel if they announce anything for the Zero and StarForce books.

I ended up getting the P5 English art book and I can't tell off the top of my head what's missing in the 447 pages vs. the Japanese version. Perhaps someone else has already contrasted?

Received the Persona 5 book - seems great from flipping through it. I am only up to
Futaba's
dungeon so I didn't want to go through the book too carefully since there are sure to be spoilers. However I am very happy they include a lot of sketches and some concept process. I don't care for pages of character portrait variations which are in the game, those seem like padding. I guess it doesn't hurt to include them since there are so many pages anyways.

To people finally getting the Persona 5 art book, how's the overal quality relative to other art books you have? Cover, paper quality, binding etc? Any dev commentary inside?

Really enjoy it myself, not reading much of it due to the fact I havent had a chance to get far into the game yet, but I love all the character sketches and such so far. Also the page count is ridiculous, I didn't realize it was like 450 pages.

Does anyone own The Art Of Mirror's Edge Catalyst? Is it good?

I have this book and it's alright. It's almost 200 pages filled with environment, characters, story boards, and concept art. Some of the art also looks to be from the first game. If you're looking for some in depth behind the scenes you won't find it here. Most of the work is promotional material or late concept art where they had most of the details finalized. Not much text and if there is text it's usually just a description of the character pictured or a blurb about the story/world.

I ended up getting it for free during that amazon audible promo so I'm still happy with it. I really like Faith's design and most of the futuristic environment art. The book is published by Dark Horse and is good build quality. However, I did receive it with some stains on the back. Not sure if it was amazon's fault or done in production. It looks like the red color from another book bleed into the back of my book on the white part.

Paper seems good, pretty standard. There are some good comments from the artist describing his thought process, but not for every character

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I only played the game for a few hours but I love the art direction so I might pick it up down the line.

Man, mine is still awaiting dispatch amazon.uk. WTF?

But yeah, the book's size has me excited, 450 pages should make for a very comprehensive look at the game.

My Neo Geo Visual History came earlier and I had time with it. What an amazing book. My first Bitmap book and it's glorious.

Sadly, even if the packaging was perfect (plastic wrap, hard corners protections, soft wrap...) it arrived damaged... Somehow :

That's a bummer. I had this happen with the very first art book I ordered, except the corner was crushed so hard all the pages in the entire book were bent and there was a knife cut on the cover. It seems in your case at least everything inside seems intact.

Yes thanks god the pages are intact. I can't get over how amazing the pages are. They are not joking around when they introduce themselves making "sumptuous, high-quality books [...] presented as a visual celebration of the genre" and boy, do they they deliver

I would do unspeakable things for Kaneko Works III to be re-released.
Same. I wasn't into SMT back when it originally released and now it's expensive as all hell. I guess that makes sense because Nocturne is the most popular game in the series.

I do have Kaneko Works IV and V though, I'll post some pictures of them later today. They're quite nice and easily my favorite artbooks I own.

Also the Shin Megami Tensei IV one isn't bad either. has lots of art for the game that I hadn't seen before, especially of the environments.

If I were to buy only 1 Eva artbook would this be the one to get?
There seem to be a bunch which isn't surprsing.

yes or Die Sterne : it's a collection of all licensed art made around Evangelion so it goes from soundtrack cover to telephone cards deals or characters promoting canned coffee. It's actually pretty amazing because it offers tons of characters art, sometimes in universe sometimes a bit out lol. It also has some few pages with very different art style from the original. In the end you have full pages key art made by Sadamoto himself, for the printed manga : these are absolute perfect.

I overall like Die Sterne a lot because it feels like a fan book with great art of characters in different setting than the show. It's almost like a slice of life peak at the off screen part of the show.

Die Sterne sounds cool but I think Der Mond is more up my alley, I've seen a sample and I really like those awesome full page pieces of art. Sterne sounds like it has a lot of cool stuff and curiosities though. Tough choice.

amazon uk just updated my order saying it's being delivered by the 9th so hopefully you'll get a similar message.

Still nothing. Estimated delivery between 13-15. Fuck my life.

P5 book scheduled to arrive tomorrow, pretty psyched :)
:'( still angry about not just buying the japanese version while it was still in my hands. Didn't find back to the right Kinokuniya in Bkk that had it in stock.

Does anyone have the big 3 book edition of Sky from Amano? How does it differ to the older Amano: The Complete Prints. Seeing as it's just as expensive to import as buy at site, I might order it anway if there are major differences.

Got my Kirby book today, really cute and seeing all the NES/SNES era artwork/sprites definitely took me back to my childhood. Can't complain at the price of only around like $27 I paid for it.

Now I can't wait for my Megaman Battle Network and Gravity Daze/Rush books to come in this weekend.

How text heavy is the Japanese and English editions of the Persona 5 art books?

Similarly, how much English text is in the Shin Megami Tensei IV art book?

Thinking whether to pick up the English or Japanese version of these. Leaning towards Japanese as it's easier for me to acquire and I am mostly interested in the art.

Can't speak for the P5 book since my order got delayed, but...

For the SMTIV Artbook, you can check it out here: https://www.parkablogs.com/content/book-review-shin-megami-tensei-iv-official-artworks
I have the japanese version and looks like it's pretty much identical.

The Kirby books has some pencil sketches, but it's a very small portion of the book. Actually there's no concept art that I could see, but I'm not exactly sure if Kirby games would even have much of that. As I said before I'm very happy with the content even if I would have liked more from the old games, I'm happy obscure stuff is well represented. I could take some pictures myself, but I'll leave that to people with better camera's.
