This is the wrong Wachowski movie. We need Speed Racer in 4k! (not joking, that movie's fucking awesome)

the marketing campaign for this movie in 1999 was sooooo good. "What is the Matrix?" was basically the only thing you saw or heard for weeks.
Yesss, totally bought on iTunes when it was super cheap hoping for a free 4K upgrade. WB is really good about that, I'm so excited

Oh it would look insane in hdr. But hell, I would be happy for lossless audio.
What? That was always there, and only applies to the world within the Matrix, emphasizing the fact that something is off and that it's not the real world.

There's definite color grading changes, the Wachowskis made the first movie more green to make it in line with the sequels.
Gladiator is coming out on UHD on May 15th too. Uncertain if 4K HDR will always work but it worked well on Blade Runner which is the only 'old' film I have on UHD 4K.

The Matrix was my favourite Wachowski movie... until about 2 weeks ago when I saw Speed Racer for the first time.
Huh, never noticed it. I always equate to the world of the Matrix having a green artificial look to it.
After watching Speed Racer I felt like I had overdosed on color.
The only shot in the entire trilogy that really makes me just stop and sigh is the final flying shot of the first one. It's not all sunshine and roses but that's the shot that trips me up the most.
I recently rewatched this for the first time in like 15+ years, and it really embarrassed me how much I used to like it. Like it's not awful or anything, but wow is it way less good than I remembered.
