Somehow "living at home to avoid extra costs while going to school" and "big time racist and Trump supporter" don't seem like equal footing but hey

It's 4chan lingo, like "aspie," "neckbeard," "REEEEEE" etc.

It's a slur. In this case, it's tied to some image they have of people who are socially inept eating chicken tenders which they pronounce as "tendies" because they're so stunted. He used it as an insult against OP.

Yea I just googled it and saw all the 4chan stuff, not terribly shocking given what the poster is defending.

I know what neckbeard is, but not the others.

Wait, aspie is a dig at Aspergers I assume. Not sure what REEEE is.

It's supposed to be the sound that someone having a temper tantrum makes or something.

IDK, 4chan lingo is really stupid. Especially when used to denigrate someone for supposedly being emotionally immature, because using said lingo flies the flag of a board that revels in being emotionally immature.

I'm not defending his father st all, let's be clear.

I'm just saying that if he's going to continue living rent free under his roof, there may be some concessions he has to make. If he's unwilling to match the courage of his convictions, he forfeits the moral high ground.

Yeah he likely would have to make certain concessions. Stuff like behaving in a certain way around the house, but that's because it's directly related to the living arrangement. There is a basic degree of respect we owe others around us depdenant on context.

But expecting him to behave a different way socially because of that is a bizarre request. If the dad doesn't want him there because he thinks it's disrespectful or whatever fine. If he wants to charge him rent, fine.

Yeah I googled "tendies" and the top result is from knowyourmeme.com where they reference 4chan Green text stories. Not surprised that poster is aggressively attacking the OP; he probably says much worse on other sites.

His post about meeting me at some specific restaruants was an "I know where you live" post, too.

I have never met that poster before in my life. As far as I know, that was our very first interaction on this board or GAF.

Holy crap I didn't catch that, I thought they were naming random restaurants. You might want to get the police involved dude...I'd be really uncomfortable with some anonymous dude on a message board mentioning that they'd meet me at nearby eateries.

One of those restaurants is a local-only chain where only 2 locations exist, both relatively close to me.

I am someone who is often vocal on message board and has been online since the late 80's. I flat out know of at least 2 private boards which talk about me, I've seen it before. I know that shit exists. Oh well.

I also run a club and have had people show up and start talking to me using web handles without me knowing who they are and it's pretty freaky haha. I just assume nobody is anonymous on the internet.

There is a lot of wiggle room between;

children having no obligation social or otherwise to their parents; and

children have to put up with their parents playing racist mindgames and lecturing them on the gullibility of the blacks and not to marry Hispanics.

The fact that some people can't see this is pretty mind blowing to me but then again I guess it's easier when you aren't part of the biological groups that are being hated on for simply existing.

So he came in here to say grow up and support yourself while speaking of tendies and trying to intimidate a user he doesn't know by name dropping local restaurants. Take your own advice dude. Grow up. You don't like his advice or politics cool but why you trying to intimidate him by showing you know where he lives. What the fuck.

Why would you even be on this board if it triggers you that much and makes you do shit like that?

Yup.

My mom is completely like, actually mentally ill and believes that the earth is flat and that globalist elite jews run the world (and are also satan-worshipping liars and that the real Hebrews are black people), so trying to discern any kind of logical political stance from her is...tricky.
you gotta get the fuck outta there

I hate this perspective.

For instance, my dad didn't do this. He routinely avoided child support. He was routinely drunk.

And I get that. The man had problems, personal demons. Demons I have.

But should I have paid that back during our time together? We owe nothing to our parents. They don't deserve respect for doing the bare minimum.
Gratitude and respect are not the same thing.

I can be grateful for my dad for working overtime to earn some money to take my family to Disney World when I was young, but I do not have to respect his low-key racism and sexism.

I can be grateful to him for teaching me math when I struggled in school, but I do not have to respect his borderline child abuse.

Saying you don't have to be grateful to your father because he was a deadbeat alcoholic isn't out of the ordinary. It sounds like he wasn't there for you and I don't blame you. He hasn't earned gratitude nor respect.

Someone saying they don't have to be grateful to their parents because they have some stupid beliefs is, in and of itself, stupid. That warrants a loss of respect, not gratitude.

I'm legit shook that some people wouldn't be grateful to their parents because they said some racist shit. Christ.

And I'm legit shook that some people feel like it's necessary to show gratitude to people who are white supremacists/ support white supremacy.

If someone supports that nonsense, they forfeit all rights to be treated decently imo. You can't support a mentality that is cool with genocide then get salty when your kids aren't overflowing with gratitude for their, uh, "largess" at doing the parental bare minimum with horrifyingly racist strings attached.

Your parents are people. They are also your parents, and by and large, are the biggest influence on your life. To treat your family just like anybody else sounds like sheer lunacy to me.

Again, I think you're conflating "gratitude" and "respect." You can respect your parents, be grateful to them for ensuring you had a good childhood, lose respect for them after realizing they're balls-to-the-wall racist, and still be grateful that you had a fine childhood.

You're saying "racist strings attached" as if you have to respect and accept those racist beliefs. I'm saying that yes, you can reject and not respect those beliefs, but you should be grateful for what you've had.

One should be especially grateful that their father doesn't kick them out of his apartment, after living there room and board free, for throwing a hissy fit about what he wears out of the house, but I get that the thread was made to vent so I'm not particularly nitpicky. I guess.

And giving parents or any family members a special pass to indulge in racism is a concept I find truly horrifying and bizarre.

Get a job and move out; parents are people, that is true; that's why they're susceptible to being moronic and delusional, because they're fallible human beings

Not everyone grows up in privileged households like yours, i know, shocking, other people exist with different problems and circumstances than your own and don't have stable childhoods and parents

but hey, i guess i have to respect them even if they abuse me

That's probably correct, I can be a bit slow on the uptake. Could you help me understand a little better?

So being a drunk excludes parents from deserving gratitude, but being an open devout racist doesn't?

Do you have a list available somewhere?

My understanding of what that user posted is that, if his father was paying child support, he was not in his life and/or didn't care to be. In hindsight, I should have lead with that instead of the alcoholism.

That being said though, if we're talking about reasons not to be grateful, not even being there for your child supersedes being a devout racist. I'm sure we could agree on that.

Yeah I think in most cases I'd agree with that. But I also realize each infraction can effect different individuals to different degrees, which disincentivizes me from wanting to make it a contest between shitty characteristics lol.

for anyone wondering, im pretty sure "tendies" stands for chicken tenders, could be wrong

EDIT: welp, just typed tendies into google images and it does have to do with chicken tenders, but its chicken tenders + 4chan somehow, wtf

EDIT EDIT: apparently the fascination with "tendies" (chicken nuggets) started with a post about someone being so shook and upset from a political election's results that when their mother went up to their room to give them chicken nuggets that she cooked for him he knocked it out of her hand

then that post because a sort of copypasta, and then "tendies" became a meme, perhaps referring to you as a child whose mom still cooks him nuggets

My issue with the "grateful" issue was that, as far as we know, OP's father could have been a near perfect father... but also a devout racist. Didn't sit right.

But I do agree that "each infraction can effect different individuals to different degrees," as you stated. To each their own, I guess.

There was a video of a frog making a loud 'reeee' sound when bothered by a person.
'Reeee' basically means "Get away from me. I can't deal with people.". I think.
But the way I've seen it used means someone who says it will get sideeye from me.

Yeah, and with the father being white and the child black, it might alter the dynamics pretty dramatically too.

I agree with your important distinction of respecting vs being grateful.

Wow people here calling half of the US population stupid cause they don't like who they voted for. Wow.

It is not simply because they voted for the other candidate or a Republican. It is because they voted for a man who has a long history of fucking over workers, unions, other businesses, and even his own family. He made up that birth certificate bs and he is just an outright piece of shit.
He brags about sexually assaulting woman. If you watch one of his speeches and come back convinced he is presidential material, then yes you need to question your intelligence and sanity. I am not trying to be mean, but at some point after everything that has happened and continues to happen, you would think at least some form of self introspection would occur.

My dad lost the shirt today and thought I had destroyed it, lmao

tbh, I had seriously debated it, and he said that I would have been a "fascist" for daring to do so! Then he got REALLY mad when he said that Trump won by popular vote and I correct him.

Then my mom decided to be awful because I said "I should move to California, they have great schools" and she launched into a tirade about California turning my future son into a girl with some new bill allowing for earlier transitioning. I was like "lol mom if my son is trans who cares, let him" and she got mad as hell lol

That's how you do it.

You should next start watching porn flicks involving Stormy Daniels with the sound at max volume.

When they complain about it just go "oh so Trump can pay to fuck her but I'm not allowed to masturbate to porn she's been in?"

My dad's watching Mark Levin's new show now and his big headline is how Schiff is "Russian's frontman" because he didn't go after Clinton

Like that's the kind of BS that right wing nuts like Levin are spreading as objective fact, and thus because Democrats don't act on such obvious truth then they're corrupt and want to destroy the country

I don't know how you get through to someone who believes such stuff and dismisses anything else as lies or liberal agenda

Ask your dad if he checks under his bed for Clintons every night with how deranged and obsessed he is about them. Explain that no one gives a shit about Retired Hillary.
