Yeah he likely would have to make certain concessions. Stuff like behaving in a certain way around the house, but that's because it's directly related to the living arrangement. There is a basic degree of respect we owe others around us depdenant on context.
But expecting him to behave a different way socially because of that is a bizarre request. If the dad doesn't want him there because he thinks it's disrespectful or whatever fine. If he wants to charge him rent, fine.
His post about meeting me at some specific restaruants was an "I know where you live" post, too.

One of those restaurants is a local-only chain where only 2 locations exist, both relatively close to me.
I am someone who is often vocal on message board and has been online since the late 80's. I flat out know of at least 2 private boards which talk about me, I've seen it before. I know that shit exists. Oh well.
I also run a club and have had people show up and start talking to me using web handles without me knowing who they are and it's pretty freaky haha. I just assume nobody is anonymous on the internet.

I can be grateful for my dad for working overtime to earn some money to take my family to Disney World when I was young, but I do not have to respect his low-key racism and sexism.

Your parents are people. They are also your parents, and by and large, are the biggest influence on your life. To treat your family just like anybody else sounds like sheer lunacy to me.
Again, I think you're conflating "gratitude" and "respect." You can respect your parents, be grateful to them for ensuring you had a good childhood, lose respect for them after realizing they're balls-to-the-wall racist, and still be grateful that you had a fine childhood.

My understanding of what that user posted is that, if his father was paying child support, he was not in his life and/or didn't care to be. In hindsight, I should have lead with that instead of the alcoholism.
That being said though, if we're talking about reasons not to be grateful, not even being there for your child supersedes being a devout racist. I'm sure we could agree on that.
Yeah I think in most cases I'd agree with that. But I also realize each infraction can effect different individuals to different degrees, which disincentivizes me from wanting to make it a contest between shitty characteristics lol.

My issue with the "grateful" issue was that, as far as we know, OP's father could have been a near perfect father... but also a devout racist. Didn't sit right.
