Do you guys think that Mega Evolution can be accessed during the main story? Because I'm planning my team right now, and a Pokemon I really want to use is Steelix/Mega Steelix. I know in Sun & Moon, you could only use Megas after the story was complete, but is any chance that they will put it in during the main-story.

Honestly I would be surprised if there were any. If there were I'm sure GF wouldn't have waited until nearly the last minute to reveal it (though their marketing for USUM has been... odd.). They would've revealed them around the time they revealed the new Ultra Beasts. It's common for leaks to sneak in a few false things.

Yep, shame really as only gen 1 Pokémon got Alolan form something that I thought was just silly and unfair.

Though I wonder if they didn't create new Alolan form because they plan to bring back cross gen evolution for gen 8, considering that a Sinnoh remake will be part of that generation and remake tend to draw parallel with the non remake version of that generation.

Probably not until post game as the bigger focus is on Z-moves, so if you want to use Mega Steelix in the main story then you would need to trade the stone over to a new file.

I hope Gen 8 stops with this Gen 1 wanking. Gen 6 was full stop gen 1 wanking, and then Gen 7 was too. MOVE ON ALREADY.

It's from their official page, just blown up because it's not an image file. It's some sort of bonus book that comes with the first-print edition.

I am so stressed out that the canon name for the female trainer is apparently Selene. It's almost the same as Serena and I find this irreconcilable. Even with better names used in the marketing (hello Ailey), I will have to use Selene because that is the name given to the character and I am a slave to consistency.

Maybe I'll use Mizuki, the Japanese name. It doesn't feel right using Moon again because we now know her name isn't Moon. Or is it? This is terrible. Stop the world, I want to get off!

I just spent the past hour or so explaining the parallel universe stuff in ORAS and (most likely) Ultra S&M to my roommate, which split into a comparison with the Zelda timeline.

If Red does not dance the Chansey Dance, the events of Diamond and Pearl happen. If he does, Platinum happens. If he dances twice or more, the Mega Evolution timeline begins.

I'm pretty sure neither of the Gen 7 MC has a canon name. Elio/Selene is just one of the defaults in the game's coding and the fanbase that doesn't like using version names stuck with those.

There's also official merchandise in Japan that uses the name Mizuki, to which Selene is the English counterpart. The official merch is what confirms it for me, personally.

Before that, I thought Sun and Moon were as official as we were ever going to get, as evidenced by the male trainer being named Sun in the game demo. But you can't deny official merchandise.

Just go with Mizuki then. She's supposed be an immigrant from one of the Japan regions so it fits.

I took my family to see the movie yesterday and both my wife and I cried, surprisingly my four year old didn't even though a couple months ago the Litten/Stoutland episode broke him for days.

Alright, just got back from Pokemon The Movie: I Choose You. I loved it! It's probably my all time favourite Pokemon movie. It's fun, heart warming and really just an enjoyable ride from beginning to end. My fiance really liked it too though she found one part a little too cheesy:
In all honesty I actually really liked it and it was heart warming in context of the scene. While I was tearing up my fiance looked at me with a very confused expression on her face. She teared up her fair share throughout the movie but I suppose that scene was just a tad too much crazy for her.

So I'm thinking about starting to breed a team for US, is anyone else doing the same?

Yeah been doing some planning the past couple of days. Testing to see what works. Waiting though to see what our total options are for moves and Pokemon though.

Anyways I'm at the theater right now about 20 minutes to go. Can't wait I'm so excited.

Not exactly a team but i bread a Shiny Torchic, Shiny Froakie, and HP Ice Jolteon.

I tried breeding a Shiny Rowlet but ran out of box space even though I had the Shiny Charm and using Masuda method. I digress.

I figured after that I'll leave 3 spots open. One for UB Adhesive after I EV train it and the other two for new Alolan forms that I'll breed a competitive version of.

The problem you describe is lessened by adding group members as friends, tho, right? Since that allows you to see who's online. Either way, if I understand correctly, a group lets us connect without match codes, lets us play without necessarily having to schedule beforehand every time, and allows for other members to easily join in. So I've set one up -- name and password hidden behind quotes.

I would love this but it would never happen. It's part of the reason a lot of people hate gen 5 after all :(

Yeah I'm not getting my hopes up. I've already seen plenty of people wanting the Switch Pokemon to just be the original 150 for some reason so I couldn't even imagine the level of discourse if they went with all new dex lol.

But man I at least hope we get a decent amount of new Pokemon next gen front and center. At least Gen 3-level.

Just got back from the movie! Was pretty good! The theater was probably 3/4 of the way full with people of all ages.

Overall the story was good and I'll admit I actually shed a tear when
The characters could have definitely been fleshed out more beyond "my legends" and "my mom" but I think it was a really solid movie about Pikachu and Ash's bond. Will pick up a copy upon release!

When Generation 5 was being rolled out, it was the most exciting time to be a Pokemon fan for me. At that time I was practically coming back to Pokemon so a fresh start was appreciated. Even better is that all the Pokemon were new, which means that every Pokemon reveal is very exciting.

I remembered when a trailer revealed certain Pokemon we won't know about later (the one with Excadrill, Haxorus, Cofagrigus and Galvantula comes to mind). That trailer also had Reuniclus, Gigalith and Gothitelle in a Triple Battle. It's also the time when I realised that fans prefer dual-typings over single-types, because some of the Pokemon with single-types were believed to be dual-typings. Example: Gigalith - Rock/Poison, Haxorus - Dragon/Bug, Cofagrigus - Ghost/Rock.

I would love another fresh start because of how great it is to encounter all-new Pokemon, but also because I hope the anime handles this premise better compared to BW (which I didn't mind, but I know a lot of people in the Pokemon forum that I frequent more often didn't like).

Woohoo! Managed to get my steelbook pre-orders for the Ultras in! Amazon re-opened them for....oh, about 10 minutes last night lol.

By the way, I'm loathe to sound like a moocher, but Sun and Moon were the first Pokemans games I played since the original Silver and Gold. Soooooo....yeah, it's been a while! And thusly I have no previous legendaries to fall back on! Hell, I don't even have a Pokemon Bank. What are the....uhm, rules and etiquette for sharing?

I thought I Choose You was solid, but the ending could've used a lot of work.

The entire theater freaked out when the former happened though.

So did anyone else get the wrong time on G/S VC after adjusting the 3DS time for DST? The game has an in-game toggle, but it was pointless since changing the system time changes the time in the game as well. Now I just left it being an hour behind real time.

When Pikachu spoke and Ash died, I thought that was the perfect time to connect it to the main series and have him be reborn with Pikachu. This was such a wasted opportunity.

I just saw this movie with my friends. The spoiler would have redeemed the movie for being that "out there" and fanservicy at the same time.

As is, the movie sucked imo. The direction it took during the last half was so uninteresting to me. It was just a bad "original" Pokemon movie with the nostalgia stuff as bait. It had some fun moments and the throwbacks were fun to see, but that's it.

To expand a bit.

The throwbacks were fun to see, but there wasn't that much of it. There were some wtf moments that were fun to make fun of. Not all the original stuff was bad, some good moments came from it. Just not a fan of the general direction the plot ended up going towards. Still was worth going to though. I always like watching those kind of movies in theaters with a lot of other people. The energy and reactions are always fun. A lot of people seemed to like it quite a bit from what I'm reading.

I guess the main problem I had is it just felt a bit messy. Like it wasn't sure what it wanted to do throughout most of it. It was kinda trying to be a nostalgia movie, then it had these characters who have backstory apparently and who they kinda might want to do something with, then it goes into this uninteresting mystical stuff...

man the movie was absolutely incredible, idk why but I feel like it rekindled my interest in the franchise, started the sun and moon anime last night and getting back to alpha sapphire

The movie wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it.

The theater was packed, and everyone was singing along to the theme song. I think Ash's voice actress was brilliant, I realized today that people hate on her because of nostalgia.

I am gonna use low level mythicals that I have in PokéBank, like a Victini (lvl 15), Jirachi (lvl 5), Phione (lvl 1).

I liked Verity and Sorrel a lot though.

This didn't happen to me but it's an interesting quirk. Are you sure that's what happened? I wouldn't think these games would use the system clock since there was no system clock to reference on the original hardware. It still has you set the time in game and everything. So that's funny, actually!

I doubt that we're ever getting something like Black/White ever again with the dex being all new Pokemon.

I would like Gen 8 to have a regional dex that focuses on the new Pokemon though. Kalos and Alola dexes are larger than past ones and it makes the old to new ratio pretty large.

I guess the downside to that is that people are used to more variety now. They would need to include at least 120-130 new Pokemon.

So apparently the anime is already gonna showcase Solgaleo and go to Ultra Space to save Lusamine in the next few episodes. Hmmmm.

Yeah I just saw that. Pretty weird since there's still two grand trials left and they foreshadowed the Alola League back in the Kanto episodes.

I wonder if they'll drag that out until Gen 8 or make a filler arc like Orange Islands.

You know in thinking about it...I don't get the point of the island scan feature in the gen 7 games nor why those Pokémon don't have Pokédex entry.

Gen 6 was really bad with the gen 1 pandering to the point that it overshadowed the newer stuff. Gen 7 managed it fine and also pulled in elements from other gen...though only gen 1 Pokémon only getting Alola form was a bit silly.

Having said that gen 2 is soon approaching its 20th anniversary so it will be interesting if they will get the same treatment.

But it was a necessary evil as Unova was the first region set outside of Japan and a clear split was needed to highlight just how far it was from there.

Plus it's had the bonus effect of making older Pokémon feel new and exciting in Black and White 2.

This could mean three things;

-Progress on gen 8 is going smoothly and should hit 2018,
-They will probably dip into the Ultra Sun and Moon arc along with the post game.
-They will do a filler arc.

I'm like 15 hours into Sun (picked it up way late). Is Ultra going to be more or less the same game story wise? I've read conflicting things and am not familiar enough to say.

Really liked Moon, so if it's more a sequel then a "complete" edition. Then I would like to play it.
