I put Baines at 1b to get the conquest mission done and he dropped about as many balls as he caught lol
Yes it's 1440p but to me it's worth the trade off. I also noticed stutter when I installed the game on my external drive. Moved it over to the system storage and didn't have any issues. Independent of that, balanced feels like the way to go.

If you like baseball video games you should buy it. It's a lot of fun.
How was the performance on OG PS4 last year? I've got a Slim and it seems kind of assy to me this year, at least compared to distant memories of generations past.
It was pretty good on OG PS4 last year. Graphics got a good bump in quality and the vast majority of the interstitial animations (walk-up, ground-out, etc.) were smooth.
For some reason this year I tried the dynamic difficulty and that seems like a pain for someone who has been playing for years. My RTTS character is hitting over .500 in the past 20 games and the difficulty hasn't even gone up from Rookie+. Finally going to adjust that tonight. I thought it would progress a lot faster and I wanted to see where I would land.
Same thing happened last year. It didn't go up until after release for some reason. I got mine at Best Buy instead with GCU.
Ugh. It had the same problem last year. 4K was too choppy. Was hoping that'd be fixed this year.
Caved and bought it, if I don't like it, this will be the last game in the series i'll play. Bought the last 3 games full price and didn't like any of them.
On the bright side, I had the exact same issue with the NBA 2k series, buying copies day 1 and not liking them, but I gave 2k18 another chance and it's my most played 2K since 2k14. So I hope this MLB game works for me.

Really cool small feature (copied you Mat because I am guessing as a Padres fan you noticed in real life) is when playing a Petco Park every now and then a plane goes by in the background.
Never been to Petco but flown into San Diego a few times and see the stadium from the air
Still haven't gotten my Best Buy preorder code. Called BB again today a couple hours ago to see what was up and the lady said she sent the code and it'd be there in 30 minutes... there was no code.
I don't really understand how this shitshow even happens. It seems pretty easy to know how many people preordered the game on your website and how many codes you need to distribute. And yet 4 days later and there are still a bunch of people who don't have codes with no response other than "eventually".

Weird. Do they send you to the digital team or is just the regular customer service ?
I have only had a code issue once with Best Buy , and the rep I got was fantastic. Guy took my call and number and gave me a call twice a day to give me updates even if there wasn't anything new.
Was something to do with the system sending wrong batch of codes out and they had to wait for the correct ones but he got it to me in around 48 hours. If you are not talking to the digital team try to get transferred to them next time as they were A+ with me
Edit : it was also for a $5 purchase so by no means was it anything really important. I was an elite member at the time (think I missed it this year after being one for the last 3 years..)

I'm fairly new to the series and apparently I'm very bad at hitting. Most people use zone hitting right? Any tips? Or just keep practicing?
Am I blind or does the game not show how many pitches the pitcher has thrown all game on the gameplay screen? I have to pause and look at stats. Why did they do that?
Well don't feel too bad, they overhauled the hitting to make it more realistic. Last year was a slugfest and it's alot more difficult this year by comparison. I use strikezone cam 1, zone hitting, wedge reticle. Find what you're comfortable with.
Just keep at it, it's going to take many hours but alot of us went from power monsters to t-ball players so you're in good company.
I've only been messing around with Diamond Dynasty, in DD at least pitches thrown is on screen all the time in the score bug.

Check your tv settings as well. I find if my tv isn't in game mode that I can't hit a lick.
The best advice I've read for Zone hitting is use the wedge pci and hold it at the top and middle of the strike zone. You're ready for high fastballs and it helps reduce pop ups when you go for pitches lower in zone.
Couldn't you just increase the difficulty to hall of fame or legend.
If you're playing on Diamond Dynasty, slider settings won't apply. But playing on harder settings, naturally makes the game harder and you get better rewards too. Also, playing online is competitive, so you'll find good opponents there.
Play around with various hitting camera settings. I like strikezone 1, gives me an up close look.
Use zone hitting. I like PCI reticle. It's the least invasive.
Play on a gaming PC monitor / Or a low lag TV on Game Mode Picture setting. If your TV is above 50ms even on game mode...that's not doing you any favors.
Wait for your pitch. If you're seeking to hit a fastball, then wait for the fastball. Try avoid pitches low in the zone. More often than not, breaking balls go low in the zone (often for a ball), while fastball are usually up in the zone.
I always say, if it's low let it go. If it's high, let it fly. Especially when you're using hitters with like, above 70 stat in power.
Also, watch cardinalbirds videos and tutorials / tips on youtube. Or, watch other good players play the game on twitch. You learn a lot by watching how they approach each at bat.

This intentional walk trophy is driving me nuts. I wonder if bumping up the difficulty makes the AI smarter as far as situations. I had men on second and third with one out. Griffey Jr up to bat with the pitcher behind him. You would think you would get the walk to put the double play in order but no.
Digital Deluxe isn't really worth it for what you're paying. Get the MVP if you plan on playing a bunch of Diamond Dynasty, normal if not.
Just watch the tutorials, and then watch them again everytime you load up DD
Just change it to hitting with the X button. Did that last year and never looked back.
I've always used the X button.
Also to update everyone: the hitting in this game is soooooo good. Too good actually. I play on veteran and even with the pitch speed increase they just added, I scored a few too many runs on 14 hits with the Mets.
Into Allstar difficulty next!
I'm happy I'm enjoying this game, 4th time's the charm I guess.
If you like Baseball and if you want to play the best sports game on console right now, get it right now. $48 is a great price.
I think there might be a glitch (maybe it's been patched, I only noticed this over the weekend) with the dynamic difficulty. I'd come up to bat maybe 3/4th of the way to leveling up from Veteran to Veteran +, take a 4 or 5 pitch walk, then the next time I'm up it's all the way down to below half way to Veteran +. Happened multiple times. So that could make progressing a little slower than it should be. I ended up settling on All-Star for difficulty myself.

Not as bad as it was back then. Now the issue is will the servers be up or down when I finish this game or mission. For the most part it's fine.
LOL, I just did this exact thing. Mind blown. I think I will stick to RTTS and Franchise.
As much as I like The Show, I really wish they could figure out a way to keep the servers up reliably. For the first couple of days last week it was great, I could go into any mode and do whatever I wanted quickly. Since Monday though, I've had a maybe %25 success rate at connecting to the servers as well as losing connection after a DD Conquest game. When I only have a few opportunities to play throughout the day, I like to be able to just jump in and play a quick game or two, but more often than not I've simply turned it off when it couldn't connect.
