Great episode. Loved that Anissa flip near the beginning of the ep--it would have made Roy Harper proud.
Eh, so I had quit all of the CW DC shows, but three days ago I picked up Legends of Tomorrow again, and it has kind of given me a lust for more of its ilk. While I've heard Arrow, Flash and Supergirl have all been terrible this season, I hear Black Lightning is kind of a breakout star? Has it kept it up throughout the season? Does it do something different that I haven't seen before on these shows? I'm considering giving the pilot a go either today or tomorrow.
Less focus on the superhero-ing, more on the social climate and the impact on the family.
I wonder if the ASA may turn into villain of the week if the kidnapped kids plot goes anywhere, they become brainwashed and controlled by the ASA so instead of a simple rescue mission it becomes fighting the kidnapped kids from 30 years ago and hoping to turn them or face the consequences of killing them.
I am all for social commentary and such, don't take this the wrong way, but I think I'm just looking for dumb fun with not too much political game in it right now. I'll boot up the pilot tomorrow and eventually give it a few episodes and I'll figure out if it's something I should have in my rotation. :)
Yeah this show is not what you want if you want "dumb fun"... Flash is the only other show... and don't go by what others say or not say, be your own judge and watch it, you may actually like it because this season it is sillier than previous seasons (but not always executed as well as Legends)
It also has the benefit of having that season 1 budget, which means they actually have more than 3 sets and can shoot outdoors in the day time.
What I wanted from Flash going forward was a lighter tone and that awesome new suit with the golden belt. Unfortunately I keep hearing from folks its hit the dumpster fire, so I'm kind of imagining it as the worst season yet? I watched the pilot back when it aired and totally tuned out when they did that "monster of the week" with the samurai. I wish Flash would just leave that stupid lab and his friends and just be on his own, maybe bring Cisco with him. But I want Barry to have fun and be the hero out in the city.
Finished the pilot, and yeah I'm tuning out for the moment. Although I like the premise of the hero being a father to two girls, that's cool. And damn Jeff got a lot of guns pointed his direction already. That boy walking into the school like that pulling a gun, such an idiot. But that hero suit is horrendous, and I'm not sure why he set lightning to that innocent couple in the apartment. Anyway, they got a cool hideout in that clothing store. I'll proceed to check out the crossover event between the four other shows.
If you do decide to comeback, and your probably should... the pilot is in no way reflective of where the show is at in terms of tone... the pilot and follow up ep were pretty hardcore, but things lighten up a little, not the same as other CW shows but it's less dark and tense to give things room to breathe a bit.
I'll have it in mind.

Expected, hope Black Lightning can keep up this level of quality or even surpass it.
Legends can keep doing what its doing, I have no problem with where Arrow is at right now except for maybe Olivers kid.
Flash and Supergirl need to step their game up. I like most if the characters but the main plot going on is meh.

Tobias seems like the Daredevil's Kingpin but done right. A lot more calculating and less prone to hissy fits.
We have BL, Thunder and Grace choi plus green light victims about to be freed
it's possible probably just Grace or Anissa saying "we're like the outsiders"

Happy to hear it is renewed, one of the few shows this year I have kept up with because I enjoyed it. Plus I already have an OT title for season two.

Should just make it their mantra "Don't fuck up like Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl", just repeat that everyday
Keep the team small. Too many team members means certain fanbases wondering why this character isn't getting more screen time... and that shit is not good.
The thirteen episode season helps with that.
Maybe that's what they should do with the rest of the shows. Give them all 13 episodes, then do two crossovers that don't pull from the series's episode counts.
Can we just have a whole episode of Jefferson tying Barry and Oliver to a chair and lecturing them about not being idiots all the time?
