I think Activision actually owns Croc. Whether or not they are aware of that is a different story.

Really? Interesting. I know Fox Interactive had owned Croc back in the day.

What was with film studios desperately trying to get into games back in the nineties? We had Fox, Universal and Disney all having game divisions. Nowadays we just have Warner Brothers.

because the current console fanboys wars are reminiscence of the 16bit wars back then.....and the companies are just nostalgia of the 'good old warring days.

Not sure I like what they did with the visuals. I cannot recognize some of the areas at a glance. Looks way too different.

I cringed @ the rampant port begging in the first couple pages, dem Switchers never learn.

Game is looking good... not as good as the Crash collection but they still have time. I just hope that i don't get motion sickness from the remastered games, i never could play the OG ones for more than 10 minutes because it sent me to the puking zone (the motion sickness).

It's a long shot, but I hope Cynder is playable. She's probably the second most popular character from the Spyro universe even though she wasn't in the originals.

I am surprised its coming to xbox one at the same time. Seems Sony didn't even fight for some timed exclusivity.

Saw this posted on Reddit and I gotta say I agree with most of it. Hopefully Toys for Bob has time to fix most of this stuff:

Edit:

Jesus Christ I wasn't expecting 15 notifications when I woke up. The devs themselves said they want to be faithful to the original game and I thought the gallery I posted was a good stepping stone to getting closer to that. Most of it was constructive and yet everyone here is calling it "petty" and "feeling sorry for the devs." It's not shooting shit at them it's feedback. Literally the same thing happened when Crash was revealed and fans of the original trilogy took the time to give constructive feedback as well. Vicarious Visions took some of that feedback to heart too. Y'all need to relax.

crash was more the face of playstation in the 90s, and skylanders has kept spyro relevant a lot longer on multiple platforms versus what happened with crash.

ok, after this..i will need my Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remake..

Oh my god, yessssssssssssssss.

Fix the tank controls pls.

Coming in September means that have plenty of time to fix Sparx.

latest

Honestly, he should already look like this.

That's awesome, but it's going to be a hard adjustment for Spyro 1.

I don't know if it's Tom Kenny in the trailer but you can hear a similar Spyro 1 voice in the trailer, so either they got someone for Spyro 1 real quick or Tom Kenny is doing a Carlos Alazraqui impression.

If they don't have Carlos back for Spyro 1 (doubt they would), Tom bringing his Spyro voice closer to Carlos' would be a good compromise. It's not bad, but Carlos' was perfect and it was rather jarring to go from that to Tom's version.

Agreed on Croc, also. Loved that game as a kid. Bought the Saturn version recently and Lordy, those controls.

I mean, they're legit complaints if you decide that the objective with these remakes is to 100% carbon-copy the look of the original games. Which of course isn't the objective that Toys For Bob are working to, just as it wasn't for Vicarious Visions on Crash. They're going to take some artistic license here and there.

Honestly, he should already look like this.

He looks like a flying twig. I don't see anything wrong with them correcting his bizarre lack of legs.

I think this is going to be another case of OoT3D, where the developers made a lot of subtle changes to the environments that kinda irked people who wanted a more faithful remake. Personally I don't mind it ... I actually kind of like it because it will be interesting to see the developer's take on each stage's aesthetic. I think as long as the stages are all visually distinct this won't bother many people, one of the coolest things about the original Spyro games was how each stage felt like a completely different environment.

Crash was a system seller since there was more demand and sony knew that. Spyro is not as big as crash and since crash and spyro fans probably overlab Sony thinks theyve done their job.

Now as for this spyro model, toys for Bobs you had one job. He looks off. Hopefuly we raise hell like we did for crash to get him fixed.

Day One ON PS4 for traditional purposes. Goes well with my crash copy and eventually the medevil remaster. Also the shadow of colosus remaster.

Somehow missed this. Only realised it had been announced after I was checking up on Amazon US/UK bestsellers, and noticed this (PS4 version) was ahead of both God of War and Spider-Man! Damn.

Looks fantastic! Will buy.

Cartoon beings don't need to have correct anatomy.

Sparx already had arms in official artwork, they could never render them on PS1. A second set was not required.

Why trash the artistic license of the original series for "realism"?

Hell, I think his face just looks too damn derpy, just fix that and I'll be fine with it.

I honestly love that they've changed the colours and lighting. I think the original colours worked better for more bare environments (where they didn't have visual detail able to be rendered) but the new ones look really nice. Almost like an animated movie.

I wonder how this is gonna sell given the performance of Crash N. San Trilogy.

Spyro has had he luxury of continuous exposure in the Skylanders game so he's in a better position to do big numbers.

So, these are the Insomniac developed Spyro games.

I heard really good things about them, which makes this collection a great announcement for people here. I didn't even think he was that popular, but turns out I was wrong about that.

Looks much better now. Hopefully Toys for Bob doesn't waste time trying to please people that will never be happy

I agree that it overall looks better.

But the color palette is a legitimate complaint. Making it darker and duller is absolutely not a good design choice.

It's minor in the end but it's a change that seems to have been done for the sake of changing.

This happened with the Crash Trilogy at first as well but they thankfully listened and fixed a lot of the color issues. Hopefully that happens here too.

The thing that interests me with these Spryo remasters is finding out whether these were actually good games or not. I played the first three games at friend's houses when I was a kid, and enjoyed them, but I had absolutely no way of telling how good they were when I was 9 years old. I guess I've lumped them in with other platformers I played at the time- stuff like Muppet Mutant Adventure and Forty Winks, games which I also enjoyed at the time but (like Spyro, I guess), haven't been remembered at all within the platforming/adventure video game canon.
Please forgive me for picking you out when I've seen this sentiment expressed by a number of people, but this suggestion honestly makes no sense to me.

Of course we could tell when a game was a great one when we were kids. There's a reason why so many of us grew up loving Sonic and Crash and Banjo-Kazooie and Mario and Spyro and have such fond memories of them and that's because they were all excellent games. If you subscribed to any gaming magazines, you'd also have seen how critically acclaimed they all were too which would help any youngster know that they were legitimately good games to begin with.

I get that trends change and games have evolved a lot, but I have played through the original Spyro games multiple times throughout my lire and I've never found myself thinking anying other than 'man, this is still so much fun to play'.

Just like with Crash last year, I think any arguments that 'Spyro was never good', or 'it just won't hold up today' will be exposed for the nonsense it really is.

Oh no baby what is you doing with that lighting?? :(((

That doesn't feel like Spyro at all...

It's worth remembering that lighting in video games isn't what it used to be.

Imagine someone painted a scene on canvas using wildly unrealistic lighting that didn't act like light does in the real world. Now imagine you've been given a physical model of the same scene and a bunch of real, actual lights and been told to match the painting. That's kinda how this is.

I don't expect this to do nearly as well. Crash is more popular than Spyro, and crash released in June against no competition and could be marketed heavily. Spyro is already no better than the fourth biggest PS4 game of the month, and that doesn't even include FIFA which is probably in september also.

Uhg, self-proclaimed reddit experts. I mean I get it, they want it to be a clone of the originals. I don't disagree with some of the palette stuff, but for christ's sake, let's wait for them to take a polish pass first before we become overbearing fans.

Also their Spyro model note is fucking nonsense. DO NOT CHANGE IT. The Reignited model looks fantastic and is waaay more appealing than the original's, sorry purists.

I wouldn't mind if the color temperature was closer to the original. I like the art style they've gone with otherwise.

Since Tom is doing all 3 games, do you want his Game 1 performance to try and match the original games VA, try to mimic what he did in 2 and 3 for the chatacter, or do something fully new?

Either way I'm hyped. 3D Platformers have returned.

I'd rather he just did what he originally portrayed in the sequels.

It's funny, before all this I was FOR SURE it was gonna be Carlos Alazraqui reprising Spyro because as of recently, he's been mentioning Spyro a lot but I guess it was just for fans. I also assumed that Jess Harnell would've been picked up as well since he does Crash and did voice Spyro years back.

But I guess TFB didn't want to disappoint the fans and went with the best guy. They're dedicated.
