What's The AppleCare deductible on the rear glass? I am considering just getting a SquareTrade warranty and a good case.

They did update their Photos app. As for the rest, it's because the device has only been available since Friday, and a big corporation isn't going to submit a fix without testing on actual hardware. Then it has to go through Apple testing before the fix can get released, and I'd bet Apple is getting a whole slew of updates that they have to test, slowing the process down. Admittedly, some apps like GMail shouldn't take that much work, but something as complicated as Google Maps could require a lot of work, and then internal testing to make sure they didn't screw something up. Better to take longer to update an app than to release a broken app and have to release a patch.

The human interface guidelines we're out far far before the phone was. Additionally simulator support has been in Xcode. I'm just surprise they haven't gotten things ready yet. I'll wait patiently.

Doesn't matter, they still couldn't test their code until Friday. Nobody should ever submit an app without testing on actual hardware, and large corporations will rarely ever do so.

My only complaint of this phone is the location of the control center, it should really be a swipe up from the bottom corner or 3D touching the home button

Quick question, has anybody had an issue with not getting any push updates after activating your X and restoring from backup? My notifications in settings are on but I haven't gotten any push updates expect for Messages, but I'm still getting them on my 7 Plus (which is connected to WiFi).
I'm experiencing the same thing too, anyone know why? Pretty sure I'm signed into everything.

Is there a way to watch full screen using the YouTube app? Or are we waiting on it to be updated?

Just got this phone from ups yesterday. This thing is an absolute joy to use, and a huuuge upgrade from my dying 6!

Do you guys think the iPad will go the way of the iPhone X in terms to edge to edge screen? Been wanting an iPad lately but might just wait until summer.

Maybe iPad Mini, but I doubt any of the larger ones. Edge to edge screen doesn't make nearly as big a difference on a full size tablet, and comes with extra costs that just aren't needed. What I really want though is an iPad Pro with OLED screen - my new phone has such a beautiful screen, but my iPad Pro is my main computer that I use far more often. Give me a nice 120hz OLED screen on my tablet, and I will buy it in an instant (I've already been resisting temptation to upgrade to the 120hz LCD screen version...)

I really would like to see a detailed test but it seems like most professional testers would think it's a waste of time and useless as the results would be obvious.

It's not a waste of time, it does what it's supposed to do well.

Yeah the silver X is an exact match to the white 3G/3GS, with the black front, chrome rim, and white back.

My 3GS was black but I remember thinking that if I could choose again I'd go white. In subsequent iPhones I only considered the ones with a black front. I like the display to blend in when off.
I had a White 3GS. I think that's part of the reason I like the Silver so much.

Before I got to the end I was like "No, 120hz is better!"

If an iPad Pro has a 120hz OLED any time soon, it would probably be the first device with one and would be ridiculously expensive.

You already see compromises like no force touch, because at certain screen sizes it just can't be done for a reasonable price. I would expect to see the 120hz oled in a phone first.

Since the preorder thread seems to have disappeared, does anyone have any top secret insider knowledge about the frequency of shipments to Canadian Apple Stores? My preorder is still way out in the distance, and I'm having zero luck finding one in Alberta.

I get notifications but only for certain messages. Everything else disappears from the lock screen. Apple support forums says to uncheck show in history for a temporary fix but I don't wanna do that.

Reading that displaymate display review, I've noticed that iPhoneX display has better defined sub-pixels, most likely because higher resolution structuring technology was used. Compare iPhoneX vs Note8 matrix images. The nicely rectangular greens is what most likely provides higher average brightness to the iPhone.

The Samsung race to 4K resolution is, most likely, why they chose to live with rounded pixels. No doubt they will learn from this work for Apple and we will see rectangular OLED pixels in S9.

I've been using this trying to grab one. Seems like they get some infrequently throughout the day

Apple made it easy for me to choose silver (white) this time around but I guess from a mix of people being mostly inclined towards it, it resembling sometimes the colorway of some cheap Samsung phones I see around with a chrome plastic (?) rim around and otherwise white back (and front), I thought sticking to the more bespoke, aparently less popular and more discreet SG. Also I liked the real life pictures of it and the way the camera blends.

It's going in a case anyway. I need to stop sweating it.
Note: the X has no white. The back is silver.

I have my first negative about the phone.... :(

They don't have an airpod indicator/Bluetooth indicator in the upper right corner of the screen anymore because it cant fit. This SUCKS because i use airpods all day at work and it is pretty important that I know my headphones are synced before I hit play

Oh wow, that sucks. They need to offer customization options until they get the notch tech under the display. Couldn't care less about cell reception or Wifi tbh.

AirPods make a sound when they are synced. Just listen for it.

You can see the headphone icon by pulling down the control center.

lol, I'm from Panama, picked up the bus to take me to the work.. and a woman besides me confused my LG G6 with an IPhone X and she started freaking herself out, she was like in awe staring at my phone all the goddam travel, she even took a picture with her Samsung J5 phone and sent it to some person through whatsapp replying "this guy has the fucking Iphone X!!!". Funny thing was that everytime I unlocked the phone using the fingerprint sensor she thought I was unlocking the phone with face ID, lol.

I assume it'd still be there in the Control Center, as that's where all the other overflow status bar icons are.

Yeah i hear the sound, but one time I lost connection and didn't know it and it played out loud and it was probably the worst possible thing it could have played :(

Its not in control center. I mean i can see in control center its blue and is connected to something but have to click it to see what it is

It looks silver in person, hence my comment. If people think they're getting a phone with a white back, they're not.
It's not silver... it's not even metallic at all. It's white under glass. It looks the same as the 8 which has a white back. I mean, they can look dull if not in direct light, but they aren't silver and don't look silver on the back.

Exactly. Stone White would be an apt name I think.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the people that have the silver iPhone X in this thread will say it looks white

really? I have a silver and I don't think it looks remotely white

there is a headphone icon in the status bar while control center is pulled down. it also shows up outside of CC when you first connect. They should really make that persistent

he is talking about the airplay/output selector in the music box of the CC

Yes that the airplay/output thing. I will take a picture when I get home. I have no headphone icon :(
