Song of the Day
Hail - Let the Wolves Lead You to Satan's Glory
Inheritance of Evilness is the only full length from somewhat obscure Finnish BM band Hail. I've always really enjoyed this album and this song in particular opens things strong. Great atmosphere in the beginning leads to some great mid-tempo BM riffing that stays quality through the whole album. There's definitely lots of Beherit and Varathron worship going on here (there's even a Varathron cover on the album) but it's all very well done. Great cover art too. Happy to have a vinyl version of this album.
This is the full two disk, 2 hour long album sequenced as one long record, as it was meant to be heard. Please don't listen to the album on your laptop speakers, it will sound like shit. Give it a shot on a long hike or by a fire with headphones. The first half of the album is atmospheric metal, the second half is more americana focused, so beware if you hate country/folk.
cheers

First time hearing about Oak Pantheon, thanks for the recommendation. John went on to form Pillorian, which has a solid black metal debut album too. The rest of Agalloch's members went on to form Khorada, their debut album should be sometime soon this year, it's in the process of being mastered ATM.Fans of Agalloch, check out Oak Pantheon, whose new album is coming a couple weeks.

have never listened to a Panopticon album in full before. Where should I start?
cheers. Yeah I essentially had them on queue a few years ago when I was finally getting into Wolves in the Throne Room and just never got around to it. Seems as good a time as ever to try them out. Also just reminded myself I need to get Thrice Woven.Autumn Eternal is my favorite but any of the last 3 are good places to start I think. Kentucky has more of the folk elements and Roads to the North is more "metal". I think Autumn Eternal is a good mix of the 2.
Not sure how much of a while is "a while", but are you familiar with Vektor?Anything new in the power or thrash scene? Been out of the loop for a while.

And on the black metal front, at least one youtuber I follow, possibly a second, recommended Nocternity which I finally got around to and holy shit I ended up buying nearly everything they have. The album art is pretty amazing to me. It's like Dark Souls come to life. Musically, this is a bit slower than I care for, but it kind of puts you in a trance listening to it. This particular album is Harps of the Ancient Temples but I grabbed their other stuff too. It's up on streaming sites if interested.

Don't care for their more recent stuff, but the first two albums are classics! So, nothing more appropriate for today than the following song of a group i do not listen to (their vocals are often terrible and their lyrics is not of my preference) yet this song rocks.
Funny, Nocternity is a band that I used to dig when I was heavily into metal a decade ago and I only just found out they had a "recent" album so I got it last night. I only made it a few songs in but Harps of the Ancient Temples seems pretty good. I'm glad to see he's still putting out quality music. I don't know if the Nocternity guy still runs Kyrck Productions, but it's worth looking into pretty much everything he ever put out on that label. He has a real ear for sound (which is to say he always puts out shit that I like). He also makes and sells (or did?) the armor he wears on the album covers through his label.
