Nah, it's the drool, as Geist 6one7 said. It was like that in Tri/3U too (and probably others).Defence down comes from the blight you get from his breath I think.
Go to the back and spam the wall-run and sliding attacks that you can do. That's the only way to get good times. How the actual fuck are you supposed to solo the azure rathalos in with those weapons in the 7th arena mission? I feel like I get closest with the Hammer but man, the Rath stun, burn and poison combo gets extremely annoying. Especially with no poison resistance
Honestly, I think it would be a lot better if those extra sets were made for layered armor settings. Why would you make a Street Fighter set, that no one will use, cause it's a terrible low rank set? If it was made as a deluxe costume like Samurai I'm sure people would use it a lot. Same with the Festival set or even Queen Beetle set. It's almost like they doing this work for nothing.

Hopped back in for a bit for this festival deal.
So what quests are you supposed to farm for those blossom tickets? I've been doing that "Every Hunter's Dream" one as well as some others and ain't nothing going. Also, has that Sakura quest come and gone yet?

If you don't care about times, DBs have 6 flash bombs and multiple traps.
The answer is you shouldn't solo, Arena is meant to be played with another player, even solo the monsters have 2x players health multiplier, I was stuck there too and then someone helped me and it was a piece of cake, if you are adamant about it, the the best strategy is using hammer / DB and spam sliding/wall run atks like there is no tomorrow, but still expect a lengthy battle of 20min+ or so.
I don't have anyone else online playing this at the moment (XB1). Is there a way to matchmake? I can never find another arena co-op to join. Seems everyone is hunting tempered elders.
EDIT: Makes sense about the HP, it feel like the monsters took much longer on solo
How is the Vespoid challenge? I checked it out but saw that there were no ranged weapons and nope'd out of there.X.x I will need some help tomorrow too for Ryu's costume, I don't like Arena at all, at least there is the Vespoid challenge for that quick daily bounty and getting 50 Arena trophy easier.

Fighting bugs that aren't hornetaurs with melee weapons is hell.
Ah. So that's how it is. Probably makes the quest actually manageable. You can use Stone, two stone kill one vespoid. Also Boomerang.
Ballista are one shot. Go in with 10 then pick up another 10 right next to it by the dragonater. Make sure to flash/trap the puki after the first volley of 10 so he doesn't hit you/break the ballista. Assuming you have somewhat decent aim, that's half the amount in under a minute.Ah. So that's how it is. Probably makes the quest actually manageable.
I might try it out after I lose my mind grinding crown quests.
Yep. Thanks. Haven;t played in a while and I sank another hour and some change into it tonight. I do like this game.Daily login and daily bounties give you tickets, not events. Every Hunter's Dream is for the great sword.

Nope, that's the biggest problem with Arena, it expects you to play with someone else, but it is not open for everyone playing, only for those who are on your online session and they have to be on the hub too. Maybe try searching for online sessions and set it to search for Arena type missions, and then try your luck using chat to ask for some help, otherwise is the usual forum/boards, I don't have a Xbox but maybe try their LFG, no idea how that works tho.

Yeah you need toI need to learn how to Great Sword so I can use the rocketblade.
Much better this game now that you can aim while charging.I need to learn how to Great Sword so I can use the rocketblade.
Felt the same to me. Had some disparate times playing with Henry that ranged from 12.5 minutes to 19; the runs just depended on if jho wanted to spank you.Was Tempered Jhos hp massively reduced? Just tried it online and it went down much faster than the surprise drop version.
It's all personal preference, but I went with affinity and health. Using maximum might and the affinity augment help get those crits when hammering the head.I can't decide between attack, affinity and health regen augmentation for the Jho hammer. I only have two stones, so I need to pick one to begin with. I augmented my Nerg and Vaal hammers with affinity and that seems to work well. But I'm thinking that the Jho hammer's low base affinity would make attack a better choice? I just don't know...
Happy to help out if I'm on later. I've used that quest to help me learn the GS (though I'm not super quick at it, he's insanely aggressive!)X.x I will need some help tomorrow too for Ryu's costume, I don't like Arena at all, at least there is the Vespoid challenge for that quick daily bounty and getting 50 Arena trophy easier.
I picked the hammer and just ran around smacking them (I've literally never touched hammer before) they're more than low enough to melee. Pukei-Pukei doesn't give you much trouble if you keep moving. How is the Vespoid challenge? I checked it out but saw that there were no ranged weapons and nope'd out of there.

Yes. It always will as far as I can tell because the save systems you're using are console wide.*
Very cohorent and helpful post. Thanks so much!Yes. It always will as far as I can tell because the save systems you're using are console wide.*
1. Make sure you have a backup of your live save.
2. Meld away and note everything down.
3. Delete that save and reload the backup save.
Note that quests sometimes count as moving you two rows on the table not one. So once you're within two rows of the meld you want, do a "throwaway" meld to move you one more row in the table and then meld properly to get your deco.
Note that every 3 quests will move you 4 rows in the table.
I've got a few critical eyes, critical boosts etc this way.
Note attack gems are weirdly rare. Someone else in the thread logged over 1200 rows of melds (so 3,600 decors) and they got one, yes one, attack deco.
It's easier to assume they don't exist.
*edit I realised this isn't true. They could patch their RNG algorithm to include time (from the system clock) in the seed. So every time you redid the melds they would be different. They haven't so far though. I'd love to know how their various RNG algorithms interact, because there may be reasons why they have to use a fixed seed.
As a benefit, I think you can use spare event tickets at the melder.I'm hoping the daily bounties aren't 1 random monster, 1 event quest, 1 challenge quest every day. The challenge quests are annoying, but that heavy armor sphere is pretty tempting. Might just have to get good at that barroth quest.
Happy to help out if I'm on later. I've used that quest to help me learn the GS (though I'm not super quick at it, he's insanely aggressive!)
Added you. Should be on later from around 07:00 BST (I might be partied up but fire me a message or join the session I'm in if you can).Thank you, my PSN is Josh-Shiki let me know when you are available at any time. Hope the following days daily bounties are low rank Arena challenges.
Can't really say I'm completely enjoying the post-game at the moment. The game just gives no indication at all what one should be doing and it's trawling through google to figure this out. Farmed tracks to unlock tier 1 tempered which didn't add anything new at all and the rewards suck (even carving becomes pointless). Worked to get tier 2 going and it's the same thing except seemingly with a small chance of slightly better decorations. Still no options at the blacksmith. Now it seems I've got to do this insane tempered My Little Pony fight (never unlocked the original) where pretty much every small mistake anywhere is a one/two-shot. I have hardly any avenues to gear up for it and at this rate I will only unlock augmenting when I get to the elder dragons at which point what content is actually left to gear up for? I can't understand why anyone would say this is the "real" Monster Hunter as I enjoyed the campaign a lot more.
Only if you need streamstone shards for certain upgrades.Definitely agree aboutt he game not being clear about what to do even as early as after you end the story.
My current end game is building a few different sets and getting the parts for armor upgrades (I mostly played CB, but I'm building a DB and LS set and might grab one for bow as well), hunting tempered tier 2 monsters for decos and tier 3 for streamstones. Is there something else that people do in the end game? I'm having fun for now, but I can see how it'll become repetitive once I finish the armor sets and only go for the tempered investigations.
Unless I'm missing something, one big problem seems to be that there is no reason to do tier 1 investigations since tier two and three provide better decos and augment streamstones respectively. Is there a reason to do them that I'm missing.
The core gameplay loop is kill monsters > get new gear > kill monsters quicker, but it's not for everyone. Understand people start to feel a little lost (or lacking a motive to play) once the campaign is essentially over.
There are two event quests (can't remember the name, they're on the last page) designed to help you with finding threat 2/3 tempered investigations, FYI.
Ah yea that makes sense. Actually that reminds me: is there a good reason to do the wyverian ritual level 1? I feel like it's probably only really worth doing for level 3 since the rates are supposed to be better. Any info on if one is better?
