Anyone have RTTS tips? I made a "Tony Gwynn"-esque contact/arm outfielder. I'm kind of regretting not giving him more power though and might restart?

I did 2 extra years in college to improve his hitting stats, but man I'm pretty annoyed with just flying out every time unless it drops in the gap.

This is my first time playing the show since 10, and this mode mostly feels the same. I like the new progression for stats (I'm pretty sure that's new?) and the training on off days.
If you press and hold L2 you see the play via a standard 3rd person camera. Try that.
This is helpful I need to try that.

What difficulty are you playing at? I created a similar outfielder and have focused my training on increasing my power stats and cap. Even though I worried about the low power cap, I am nearing the end of year 3 and my player seems more well rounded (.310 BA, 20 HR, 80 RBI) than when i started.

Also what hitting interface are you using? Zone is the best for me.

I'd recommend trying a different camera angle. The Offset 2 hitting view is amazing, I see the ball MUCH better using that.

Ah yes, nice! I should have known this, lol. I was getting it confused with DD. Now can you play DD CPU only for everything as well, or does it require vs. others in some instances like in the past?

If you just want to do the player programs then you don't need to play against players online. Only ones I seen that require online matches is the starter and april program. I hope that makes sense.

I finally got the George Brett conquest mission done. Fuck him is all I have to say. I think it took me 36 games to get it done. A double and an inside the park home run no less. Thank you dumb cpu for diving for balls.

So the big debate about this game is the pitch speed is too slow. What say you Era?

I put it on novice players, so I'm getting nothing but strikes but I'm still pretty bad at hitting. I use the zone hitting (the bubble you move around and X or square). I'll definitely try that camera angle, because I'm late on my hits way more often than I'd like to be.

That said I was starting to get early on hits maybe 1/3 of the time instead of dead center or late so it was just adjusting.

Funny thing is I did hit a home run in my 2nd time doing the talent show off game, and I've barely come close since. I get a fair amount of triples now though. I've played probably...40? Games and I'm now hitting .397 or so with ~25 RBIs in AA.

Thank you, and yes it does!

I mainly play RttS/Franchise since '06 on, and been to the San Diego studios on many occasions in the past for play-testing, feedback, licensing, etc.. I remember when we got to see the DD mode the year it was to be added (before they announced it), but it was not as fleshed out and deep as it is now. With RttS being so good in '18, I want to dabble in the DD/Conquest modes to see if I will like them as well, but not much of an online gamer anymore like the past.

It did seem a little slow before one of the patches that goosed the pitch speed up. And the power pitches still don't feel super fast. I haven't touched the sliders yet but i assume it can be tweaked, it's not like it's ridiculously slow on default now.

It's too damn slow in online play, to the point where everyone is scared to throw a fastball because they're easy to crank.

Increase pitch speed to 17 levels. Strikeouts hardly exist this year. They're trying to make all pitchers viable instead of just flamethrowers, which I appreciate. The current meta where everyone pitches backwards isn't the answer.

I would like them to keep 17 as a baseline but I want them to add more depth to the game. I was the Dead Red perk to slow the pitch down to current level. I want Breaking Ball hitters to flatten breaking pitches a bit. I want PCIs smaller across the board. I want more strategy to DD than just trying to acquire god squads.

I can understand lowering pitch speeds a bit. They need to take into account people who have non-gamer friendly TV's or monitors. So they probably gave people an extra 0.050 seconds to react to compensate for TV input lag.

But there needs to be more swings and misses. If somebody swings at a neck high fastball, that should be a whiff. Not a foul off. Same with changeups at the ankles. If you swing at that, you're done. Strike 3. Not, oh he fouled it off. That's ridiculous.

Yeah they're walking a fine line right now. Do they go full pay to win and eliminate the skill gap entirely like Madden did? I've seen that kind of chatter on the subreddit and it is similar. But their devs are competent when it comes to gameplay changes so I have faith they can turn it around (despite the server issues). I do agree PCIs need to be smaller and stop rewarding low vision high power guys like Ryan Schimpf and Joey Gallo.

Absolutely, well said. If they're trying to replicate launch angle baseball then strikeouts need to be way up.

26 wins in the event, 9 to go for 1993 postseason Dykstra who I don't even want but a 90 rated player is very helpful this early on or I'll sell him

I'd rather have 1993 postseason Joe Carter or Roberto Alomar or any of the Jays

They also changed event matchmaking today to what it was last year, also got a lot more strikeouts but those were against newbies

Also lol @ quickselling gold Chris Taylor after getting him for 20 wins and then getting Ohtani in a pack who is silver and goes for 3-4k stubs

Well that's good news. I had struggle games all the way to 35, might need to give it another shot.

Man how long does it take to get out of AA? I'm getting bored as hell (have like 350 plate appearances, 450 and 70 something RBI)

Joe Torre will cost me some broken controllers the way this career arc of his is going. Hate having to hit with his IV card, he's terrible.

He's starting up AAA now if you want to check it out. He still has two guys in his way, one of which is Andre Ethier. His overall is already higher though so I have no idea.

I finished the regular season, hit like 455 with 26 homers and 150 RBIs.

The Blue Jays (team who drafted me) offered an MLB contract, then immediately traded me to the Astros. Now in spring training with them.

Gonna bump difficulty up once I secure the starting spot in left field. Still that was like 15 hours before actually getting to where I want to be, way too long.

Exactly what happened to him. Jays drafted him and he was called up as a left fielder. Got a few spot starts in center and looks like he's a regular part of the squad in year 2. I may give this mode a shot if I can ever pull away from DD.

His MLB streams are super entertaining.

The move up to the big leagues has provided plenty of laughs tonight.

SDS will pull their usual trolljob with slow upgrades on players that deserve it. Going to be a slow climb to gold for Ohtani. Judge took forever to climb.

Sounds like the Team Epics are finally releasing. A lot of Twitter accounts have been posting the Team Epic rewards too.

So I had switched to dynamic and was really struggling when it got to veteran. Then I played tonight, and I was absolutely locked. I'm around hall of fame + now and I think I hit 4 or 5 homers in 10 games, including a 4-5 (2 homers, 2 doubles) where the only out was a smoked liner right at the first baseman. Feels good man.

Bobbleheads and autographed bats/balls are going to be needed for team epics? =/

SDS needs to scrap the souvenirs before the community revolt gets bigger

The soveneirs piece is really taking away from my enjoyment of the game. Flipping back and forth between missions and marketplace and doing price comparisons and math on 30 bronze hats versus some other number of silvers or whatever isn't fun, it's work.

I may have to just stop playing for a while. This isn't why I want to play The Show.

Are you seriously saying you don't want to be a virtual baseball hat broker? That's every kids dream growing up.

I have come under the conclusion I will not be finishing most of the programs that require excess amounts of items, shirts...etc and it kinda help as I agree it's work to figure out what you need, cost...etc.

The souvenirs are nice little touches on their own, but the amount needed for every program makes them an annoyance[/QUOTE]
