By the way, Spiteful Summoner got a stealth buff. There are only 5 10 mana cost minions left in the game, two 8/8s, a 7/14 and two 12/12s.

Odd or even decks will be meme tier.

Aggro pally and tempo mage will run rampant with cube lock as the only control deck. See you in August for the next xpac

I haven't done the theorycraft, but isn't 1-mana hero power potentially great for face hunter?

I'm going with this

Odds
1-Hunter
2-Warrior
3-Paladin
4-Mage

Even
1-Shaman

everything else is not worth exploring even.

I think odd hunter will be a real deck and maybe warrior/shaman. The rest hard to picture right now

Personally I think Odd mage is real deck or at least nearing of it

The Upgrade actually substansial and the pieces is there with mana wyrm, the cat and the new elemental

2 damage ping is worth it.

Most of the elementals, outside of Pyros, are also odd-numbered. I wonder if you'd include Jaina as well. The upgraded hero power doesn't carry over, right?

I'm going to play wock shaman, (big)mage, tess rogue, LiW priest, and godfrey control warlock

Hope I have enough dust for the epic and legendaries.

I don't think odd mage would work.

I am a bit worried about the meta after rotation. Cubelock and Dude Paladin will stay while other natural predators like Big Priest or Spell Hunter (which both relied on Barnes+Y'Shaarj) rotate out. So every deck that you build should, at least, try to predate one of these two decks (unless you want to meme). I hope that a new deck arises which can consistenly defeat Dude Paladin and Cubelock.

I want to try a Zoomage, with Arugal and loooots of 1-3 drops; and Tempo mage with Vex Crow and low cost spells, topping the curve with Aluneth.

From Reddit :
"I just posted this in the Shudderwock thread, but I think this will spark some discussion here too. This 4 card combo gives you infinite 1 mana Shudderwocks in your hand!

This is the best combo I can see:

Play Saronite Chain Gang at some point.

Play Murmuring elemental and hit it with Grumble.

Play Shudderwock + Murmuring on 10 which guarantees 2-3 (or more if you played another Chain Gang) Shudderwock's will be bounced to your hand for 1 mana.

Viola! You have 1 mana Shudderwocks that create more 1 mana Shudderwock's if you play them both in the same turn. Just a four card combo to go infinite in your hand and do degenerate stuff.

The rest of the deck can be stall until that point. You want Lifedrinkers to heal yourself and kill your opponent. Sandbinders pulls your combo pieces and the rest is stall and card draw. Hagatha is an option if you're facing board flood decks like Pally because it gives you perpetual AoE, but with bad luck you can break your Shudderwock chain so it might be a card you play in some matchups and hold in others.
"

I think this guy (named Shudderwock) is the right way to build around Shudderwock, trying to go infinite with Grumble and Murmuring, and card draw/stall to reach there.

I think Miracle Shaman has a chance, due to its seemingly infinite ability to create spells and minions. I think it'll have to be based around elementals though. The good news is that the Shaman elemental package has a decent amount of taunts and healing.

Even if they do something about Cubelock, they're just now adding Shudderwock so we have another full rotation of a basically infinite value win con so...good luck control.

Dude pally takes some pretty heavy losses from rotation. Rallying blade, steward of darkshire, stand against darkness--stand hurts since they lose a big reload tool after a clear, and makes it harder to hit a good level up or lightfused. I'm sure pally will figure out something just by having call to arms, divine favor and tarim though.

I wanted Shaman to get legitimately better--not Shudderwock better.
I think with some new Elementals, Zap!, and Hagatha, value won't be a problem, but will it be strong enough? I don't see Cube Warlock going anywhere, so that means another three-four months of that and if infinite Shudder is a thing...

I'm not going to be crafting Shudder. I loved Yogg and I like Tess, but Shudder just seems...I don't know, too much.

Shaman is in an interesting place, I wonder if they'll live long enough for Hagatha and Shudderwock (which triggers Hagatha again lol) to work or not.

Other than that I'm ready for more Cubelock and Aggro Paladin I guess.

Can we discuss this card?

636588986356254656.png

It is getting hyped by some pros, specially in Rogue Tempo decks, but IDK, its seems like a better Grave Shambler but that card saw no play...

The Witchwood expansion rating survey is ready! As always, we are evaluating these cards based on Standard Constructed viability. Fill in your username, rate the cards and then submit. I will share the spreadsheet with the scores once we start getting some submissions.

It's become clear to me that these pros are pros not because they are clever or skilled at deckcrafting, but because they are quite excellent at decisionmaking. If they're hyping a card as good, it's basically always unplayable. This is a 3 mana 4/4 in most cases. That's fine, but it's conditional and even best case it's just ok.

spiteful summoner went completely under the radar until chakki, muzzy and another pro busted out a bunch of decks w/ it in a tournament.

Not that I have the greatest confidence in blizzard play testing, but I have to imagine that they found that Shudder isnt as powerful as people think.

As someone mentioned shaman draw is terrible. Shaman has some tools but can you really survive if shudderwock is in the bottom 1/3rd of your deck? I think it'll be a tier 2 deck (which is not that bad) unless someone can figure out another win condition to put in the deck.

Time to look over our card ratings and see what we have collectively decided for this set!

Highest Rated Cards
  1. Duskbreaker
  2. Psychic Scream
  3. Kobold Librarian
  4. Twilight Acolyte
  5. Leyline Manipulator
  6. Dire Mole
  7. Vulgar Homunculus
  8. Reckless Flurry
  9. Hooked Reaver
  10. Carnivorous Cube
Duskbreaker ties Dragonfire Potion as the highest rated card ever (which seems very fitting). Psychic Scream is not too far behind either. Priest getting a huge buff this expansion, as if they needed it. Dire Mole is a surprising inclusion to this list, I would say. A 1/3 Beast seems pretty unassuming, but it has apparently been very well received by all the Hunters and Beast Druid players amongst us.

Worst Rated Cards
  1. Rin, the First Disciple
  2. To My Side!
  3. The Runespear
  4. Feral Gibberer
  5. Grand Archivist
  6. Toothy Chest
  7. Gravelscout Knight
  8. Silver Vanguard
  9. Crushing Walls
  10. King Togwaggle
The Purify of this set, To My Side!, makes its appearance on the bottom 10 list. But it is (deservedly) edged out by Rin, the First Disciple for "Worst Card in the Expansion" status. There is a good chance one of these cards will surprise everyone and become playable, if not a meta-defining card. The past two sets have seen both Prince Keleseth and Sherazin, the Corpse Flower hit the bottom 10 list, yet go on to become powerful cards.

Most Controversial Cards
  1. Arcane Tyrant
  2. Temporus
  3. Lynessa Sunsorrow
  4. Master Oakheart
  5. Psionic Probe
  6. Crushing Hand
  7. Murmuring Elemental
  8. Call to Arms
  9. Windshear Stormcaller
  10. Dragon's Fury
These cards have the highest variance in their ratings, meaning the community is very split on how good or bad they may be. Lynessa is one we've discussed in here quite a bit already. Others are probably just plain hard to evaluate such as Temporus. Some that didn't quite make the cut for this list, but have generated discussion here, are Potion of Heroism (#12), Kingsbane (#14) and The Darkness (#15). Some of us are going to be right about these cards, while others will be eating some serious crow.

Average Class Card Ratings
  1. Priest (3.28)
  2. Rogue (3.23)
  3. Warlock (3.11)
  4. Mage (3.06)
  5. Druid (2.90)
  6. Paladin (2.86)
  7. Shaman (2.76)
  8. Hunter (2.71)
  9. Warrior (2.62)
Here we have the average scores for each class's class cards. Priest, unsurprisingly, is tops thanks to having the top 2 cards in the set. Rogue is not too far behind though. Warlock and Mage also seem to be getting above average class cards this expansion. Druid and Paladin are in that middle tier, with Shaman and Hunter a step below. Warrior is in the dumpster. This doesn't tell the whole story though, as certain neutrals work better in some classes than others, bolstering those class's decks outside of their class cards.
Oh how wrong we were hahaha, specially with Rin. To be fair there was some amount of nerfs in January and nobody predicted Cubelock as a deck.
